Being from the south I'm very particular about my bbq - don't get me wrong, Hog Wild was good! And unlike a few other spots we tried to check out they had all of their meats and sides still available so WHOOP! I got the 2 meat plate which came with two sides - turkey breast and sausage with side salad and Mac n cheese. I liked the turkey - it was a bit dry but still yummy. The sausage was good also. Mac was creamy and the side salad was the move to make because it was large. Oh and it comes with Texas toast which is always my fave! I recommend for a quick bit to eat!

While it wasn't the best bbq I've ever had, this was a nice treat in Wichita! I got the 2 meat plate with 2 servings of beef brisket, curly fries, and baked beans. I'm used to slices of brisket so it was a bit unusual to see "pulled" brisket, but the taste was just as good. By itself the meat was juicy and flavorful but their sauces added some nice flavor. The "hot" bbq sauce wasn't hot just nicely spicy. I tried the medium but ended up sticking with the hot. The baked beans were delicious too. The fries were decent, nothing notable, but no one is looking for knock-you-socks-off fries right?! A good find in this neighborhood- looks like a former pizza hut or something similar but I'd recommend this place if you're looking for decent bbq.

Don't leave Kansas without getting bbq! That was my thought the last day we were there and this place caught my eye on Yelp. If you want huge portion sizes at affordable prices, this is the place you'll want to go! My daughter and I shared a 3-meat plate and could not finish it. The meat was GOOD, the sides were "ok" (hence 4-stars). I would not rush here for the sides (we had mac 'n cheese and I wasn't thrilled about it, couldn't tell if boxed or not?) but I would run there for the meat. The ribs were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Personally, the pulled pork was my favorite. The brisket a little grisly, but I don't expect it not to be most of the time. The atmosphere is dive-ish, but that is a must for a good bbq place - right? :) Looks like an old Penguin Point turned to Hog Wild Pit. There were some questionable individuals at the establishment, but it just flavored the scene a little more. Ha! I give customer service a 2-thumbs up.

When in Kansas you must do BBQ and when doing BBQ you need to try out Hog Wild. This place is very well priced, with great food and great service. I got a "two meat"plate with pulled pork, ribs, corn, slaw and some great Texas toast. My wife got the pulled pork sandwich. We enjoyed it so much that we bought a lb of pulled pork to take back to Vegas. Next time we are in Kansas we will definitely be stopping here for lunch or dinner.

Would recommend this place if you are in town for a quick barbecue other than fast food. The ribs are tender and fall off the bone. Meat is well seasoned and juicy. I always get the three meat to share with my son. They give you plenty of meats. Pulled chicken and pulled pork is my favorite. They have different meats to alternate. The sides are just as good. Can't go wrong with the baked beans, coleslaw or mashed potatoes. If you don't want to go to a restaurant and want a quick take out meal, try this place. Don't forget to ask for different barbecue flavor. I like the hot. They close at 8 p.m.

    So heavenly....

I've tried two meat choice for lunch this time - pulled pork and ribs. Man I am glad I didn't eat breakfast, I was just in heaven. I wish I could eat this everyday. Pulled pork is very moist and meaty. Ribs just fell right off born. I tried watermelon ice tea and it was interesting blend...I will definitely have them with ice as they were warm out of the jag (could but good sign as they blew it recently?) This is family friendly no frill restaurant, plenty of parking spots and people working there are friendly. They also have the take out window and also a van parked in the back said they do catering. This location is about 6 minutes from airport via highway, and convenient yet authentic bbq experience without going out of the way.

The pulled pork sandwich is one of the best I ever had. The fries with the BBQ is really good too.

From the moment I walked in, I knew I was about to experience something special. My taste buds didn't just wake up -- they rejoiced! This wasn't just a meal; it was a full-blown experience wrapped in smoke and perfection. Let's talk about the legends first. Their smoked sausage gravy and biscuits, and Texas Twinkies have wowed me before, and I'm here to testify: they absolutely did not let me down this time. The biscuits and gravy were flawless -- perfectly tender biscuits smothered in rich, savory smoked sausage gravy that tasted like it was crafted with love and a little bit of magic. Every bite was comfort food at its highest level. And the Texas Twinkies - Amazingly indescribable. Smoky, cheesy, savory masterpieces with just the right kick -- the kind of bite that makes you pause mid-conversation just to appreciate what's happening. But now... the revelation. The new pork belly cinnamon rolls with frosting. Let me just say this: talk about melting in your mouth. Sweet, smoky pork belly wrapped in a delicious blend of warm cinnamon and brown sugar. Slowly melted into a sweet and Rich caramel-like sweetness and topped with luscious frosting. It was the kind of creation that makes you question why all cinnamon rolls aren't made this way. The balance of savory and sweet was nothing short of genius. Station 8 BBQ doesn't just serve food -- they serve moments. They serve joy. They serve flavors that linger in your memory long after the plate is clean. If you haven't made the pilgrimage yet, go. Your soul (and your stomach) will thank you.

The people running the restaurant was friendly and generous enough that they gave me a free coke and smoked peanuts since I was the first one in line. As soon as the door opened, I came in and got the platter with brisket, and molasses burnt-ends. For the sides, I got the smoked mac, baked beans, and the jalapeño cornbread pudding. The inside had a retro and industrial feeling which makes sense since it's inside an old fire station. The brisket was so tender to the point that I can barely pick it up with a fork without the meat falling apart. Also, the brisket was comparable and just as good as the brisket that I had back in Texas but without the 5+ hr drive. Why go to Texas when you have this? The only downside was that it was expensive, but the food quality makes it worthwhile. Despite the heat, waiting in line for about an hour was worth it since the line was out the door by the time I was done eating. Overall, it's one of my new favorite places for BBQ and one of my favorite restaurants in Wichita and it blows even BBQ places in KC out of the water. Oh, but it might be the best place for BBQ in my home state of Kansas I've ever eaten even beating Joe's in KC. Even that, it competes with many BBQ joints in Texas. If you want the full experience, make sure to be in line by 10:15 am (by 10am or earlier depending on the day if you want to be the first in line if you want a chance to get some surprises).

Another year, another restaurant pops up to occupy the doomed little building near 47th and Seneca…read more Everything about Sweet Willy's is heavy-handed, from the menu's cartoon cowboy claiming this to be the best barbecue he's had, to the amount of hickory used in the meat that ensures you're going to smell like the woods before you make it back to the car. Going so over the top doesn't help my old barbecue standbys: the pork was on the way to becoming jerky, the brisket was dry and the fat unrendered, and even the sausage had a casing that was too thick for my liking. The ribs, on the other hand, stood up to the smoke well, producing a caramelized crust that gave way to tender meat that came off the bone cleanly. I'm not normally a ribs guy, but it was one of the saving graces of the meal. What Sweet Willy's lacks in panache it makes up for in gusto. The menu is peppered with all sorts of non-traditional applications of barbecue, from poutine to chicken lollipops to tacos, though the most surprisingly enjoyable thing may be the burnt ends, which are tossed in a honey and garlic sauce that is not only more subtle than the KC-style sauces served with everything else, but surprisingly works well with the sugars in the meat in a way that doesn't overwhelm. There's clearly a lot of effort put into Sweet Willy's, but not a lot of confidence, no matter how many "yums" are on the menu. There's some good to be found in places you wouldn't expect, but the brisket and pork are serve as the foundation upon which the rest of the menu is built, so improving them should be the first priority.

The garlic slaw isn't too sweet, the sweet potato salad is a surprisingly delicious change from traditional, and the baked beans are the perfect mix of sweet smoky and a kick.
