The people who work here are friendly and the service is ok (a bit slow but they're working hard). The bbq sauce is ok. The spicy one is the same as regular with some hot sauce added to it. The meh part was some of the food. We ordered the 3 meat 2 side Combo: - The green beans were mush and no seasoning. - The mac'n'cheese with the bacon was actually delicious. We might come back for that alone. We added the sausage hotlinks and they were delicious also. - Corn bread was soggy - The meats: we tried the chicken, pulled pork, and brisket. The meats were good but not seasoned. What if I didn't want to slather the bbq sauce on? I just wanted a little salt. And we took our food to go on a picnic so had no access to salt. Overall, it's an ok place. Maybe they're going through growing pains. I'll give them another try when I'm in the area. Be forewarned: their door automatically slams shut, so when I was walking out pushing the door with my shoulder bc my hands were full it slammed closed super quickly. On my foot. Just a random side note to keep in mind if you're walking out with your hands full.*

Rib plate special with coleslaw and bacon Mac and cheese.

My partner's parents brought us here for lunch today and I had to say it was so disappointing. His dad is a great cook and so we always have a good meal with them, and since his dad is from Texas we had high hopes. But we found out it was his first time, too. His wife had come for lunch with a friend and thought it was good. That and along with the 5 stars on here. I have NO idea why they have 5 stars. We loved the service and ambiance, but the food was terrible. I had the rib plate special (5 meaty spare ribs, 2 sides and a drink $17.50) that was supposedly more ribs than the usual rib plate ($17). I chose the bacon Mac and cheese and slaw. The only positive I can say is the ribs were indeed meaty. Unfortunately, they were overcooked and lukewarm. Everything was lukewarm warm and didn't seem fresh. Like two day old leftover fresh and not microwaved properly. The bbq sauces were good. And I could tell if served fresh and hot the Mac and cheese would have been amazing. The commitment to creating a fun space is obvious and we loved the back bar area where you can order bottles of popular brews like Modelo and Pacifico. We just wish the food matched the drapes.

Food 50/50 Service 25/25 Ambiance 25/25 Total 100/100 Smokin' Outlaw is my new favorite BBQ in the Denver area!!! The decor is fun and the space is big and inviting. We were greeted as we walked in, and thanked as we left. We went just before Christmas Day and daaaaang the food is sooooo goood, the brisket was already sold out and it was barely 1p! I will have to come back and try the brisket at open. The pulled pork was tender, juicy and had excellent flavor. They have two bbq sauces and both are perfect companion to the meats. The Mac n cheese had bacon in it and it was not too salty & creamy. You MUST get the jalapeño corn bread, it was so soft and the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. We got lucky and met the owner, Brandon. Not only was he a lovely person he shared with us how this place is a second chance employer. That is something truly special and worth supporting! Cant wait to be back in 2026!

I don't know how people discover this place but now that we have, we're putting this into our regular rotation. Outlawbarbecue has amazing sauce, amazing service, and the portions are huge. The prices are better than any we have found for barbecue in Denver. They now also have a bar. We ordered the three meat combo and had to take most of the meat home because there was so much! Everyone was super friendly --you've got to give it a try!

We love supporting smaller, up & coming businesses! The quality of BBQ food was really high at Smokin' Outlaw kitchen. We were in the area and stopped by for some grub and were pleasantly surprised by how good it was. They didn't serve alcohol at the time but had plenty of soda options. The owner was very kind and came over to introduce himself and thank us for coming in. We will be coming back! Great food & friendly staff.

I somke and grill quite a bit at home. I love the food here. The meat has good smoke flavor and tender. I even ordered to go some more ribs. The counter staff was friendly. It's your neighborhood barbecue joint and the pit master showed me his smoker in the back. A little tour and shared what he does. I'll come back for more and hope that the food quality will be consistent.

Was lucky enough to…read morestumble on this while walking around near a friend's apartment in Englewood, Denver has all these cool little pockets where it's very suburban and then all of a sudden you'll have a small corner with a few shops and restaurants and giving it a lovely walkable vibe. I could tell this place was going to be good because it was packed out at 11:30 AM on a Saturday. We decided to stop by and most people were ordering very large orders for takeout, but they have a good number of tables both inside and outside. The food takes a while to come, but that just means that it is all freshly prepared, and the staff are so nice and even give free samples. I went with the Kids meal brisket with the Potato salad and added a Sweet potato with the candied pecan butter. I seriously have no words -- all of these things were so delicious, and the amount of meat that you get even with the kids meal is more than enough to fill me up, especially with the rich sweet potato and potato salad on the side. I will be back as soon as I can, their hours are limited, and the drive is a little out of the central Denver area, but it is so worth it

The employee taking orders didn't know much about the sides (when my friend asked about the beans he just showed them to him instead of explaining what they have in them or if he likes them). I asked about the grits and another employee had to chime in that they were good. We both ordered the combo which includes a drink and side. We waited for a while for our food and went in after a while to see if everything was ready. They seemed flustered and told us the food would be right out. Granted there were a few people ahead of us but less than 5 total. The real McCoy sandwich was REAL dry. It comes with burnt ends and the bison green Chile and cheddar sausage (used to have pork as well) and their regular or buffalo sauce helped but not enough to overcome the dryness of the meats. The andouille & corn grits were fine as well. The sausage gives it a nice pop but the grits were more like potatoes in consistency. The best part was the Boylans ginger ale. Bummed Roaming Buffalo wasn't what I had previously. May come back but with other BBQ options it may be a while.

I've had it before and enjoyed it, but the last couple times the food has been cold despite being ready within 7 minutes. Today, I was at Chop Shop the minute my order was ready, as I got a notification on my phone. I got the chicken with polenta and my husband had the chicken tenders. We got freezer burnt chicken that was wet and soggy, breading falling off, and impossible to chew like cardboard. Not to mention the polenta and Mac and cheese were cold. I understand not every experience can be perfect, however to pay a tip, restaurant service fee (that apparently doesn't go to staff because it's a separate charge), and have to pay for utensils at a quick serve restaurant just to receive small portions, cold food, and past quality ingredients is not acceptable. I would sooner go to a fast food restaurant.

I would have walked out and gone somewhere else except I had two disabled folks with me and one ornery sibling who would have balked. That being said, the place itself has been designed pretty great. Excellent tables and chairs and even some high top ones. Very, very clean. Area where there was BBQ sauce and some garnishes was alone by itself and coulda been dressed up a bit more to look more enticing. Now, the food. The burnt ends, unbelievably, were not true burnt ends, at least in my book. They were cubed meat with either side burnt but they were not ends. Burnt ends need to be almost all burnt around except one edge. There were only SOME of them like that. But, ok, fine, how's the meat, how's the cut? Most of my pieces were very tough. Cut wrong or with some gristle. Not a tender bite. But I also ordered brisket. Although not as good as I'm used to, at least it was tender and flavorful. But it was sliced thin and shoulda been thicker slices with more burnt edges. My sister liked.her chicken although it looked a bit dry, my uncle seemed to really enjoy his ribs. My brother didn't seem to be as picky as me about his burnt ends, he said it was good. So perhaps my standards are too high. Sides of Mac & Cheese, creamy Cole slaw, rustic fries, and loaded mashed potato were decent, but the charred corn wasn't at all as I was expecting, just corn in a lot of spicy sauce and I would skip it. The toasted bread on the side was altogether uninteresting. My uncle did like his Breckenridge Beer Amber Ale. And the fellow at the front was really nice, although interesting it was just him, and then two cooks in the back, not what I'm used to at most bbq places which usually have a bustle of people behind the counter. But then, again, the place was empty, although had a decent amount of "to go" business. This place feels like it may not last -- it's in a great location and should have had way more people dining in -- and I think the owner needs to invest in another bbq chef who can bring a bit more magic to the food, especially the burnt ends, the brisket and the sides. I was torn between 3 and 4 stars -- were it just me it would be 3, but with the rest of my party, a 4 -- plus the cleanliness and bright atmosphere and great service, a 4 is deserved.
