Tried the food to go and ate it on Clearwater beach, whole family enjoyed everything. Crispy chicken sandwich, burger, and a chicken quesadilla. The herb mayo and chipotle mayo were very good. Service was very helpful and generous with sauces. Looks like a great spot to hangout and eat they had a nice outside fire pit with chairs too. Didn't get any pictures as my phone wasn't with me at the beach. However, the presentation in the to go boxes was still nice. read more

I was so disappointed as I have eaten here prior to Hurricane Helene and the food was Chef's kiss--unfortunately, although there has been restaurant restoration the food preparation has not been restored. I received the e 1/2 pound Wagu burger well done--I ordered it Medium and the chips were greasy and overcooked as well. Looked like they had been sitting in the drip bin for quite some time. My order was to-go so inspection was not done until I arrived home ( I trusted and did not verify) I won't worry about doing this again Tate Island Grill--my money will go elsewhere. I am staying at the Sandpearl Resort in Clearwater Beach, which is home to Tate Island Grill. Tate's is located right on the edge the beach's sand. There is a small indoor seating area, but primarily seating is outdoors with tables covered by umbrellas. They also have little devices that go around the umbrellas that provide lighting when it's dark at night. I've had a number of dishes here during my stay including: the Asian chicken salad, lobster roll and the Grouper sandwich. All very fresh, tasty and flavorful. The appetizer options here are decent, but they don't have a ton of variety. The options are mostly chicken wings, coconut shrimp, etc. They no healthy options like starter sided salads. I had the peel-and-eat shrimp, but having to peel it was a bit of a hassle. The restaurant is also very crowded, so the servers are a bit rushed. However, they are all very nice and try their best. There have been a couple of mix ups, but I understand given how crowded it is. Patrick, the waiter is very good! I think it's important for Tate's to clean up their customers food, as soon as they leave, because otherwise it attracts seagulls. The ambiance here is very nice. Beautiful views of the ocean. If you're staying at Sandpearl Resort, you can charge the meals to your room. Altogether, Tate Island Grill is a nice restaurant that serves fresh and tasty food with a beautiful view! read more

Food is mediocre -as far as Michelle the waitress --RUDE COMMENTS-- come from under her breath.. My mom was reading the menu as she came by and asked if we all wanted water and my mom said," I will have ice water". The waitress responds,"That's what I asked- with an eye roll". EXCUSE ME!!! Who talks to people like this apparently Michelle does. I ordered an appetizer that also came out with our food. Think Michelle purposefully forgot it and was continuing her rude act towards us. We left our credit card in the book by accident and accidentally giving her a 20% Tip.. Giving her the benefit of doubt she has improved her attitude. NOPE REGRETS.. When going back to get our credit card; she rudely said' "look on the table it's still there". PLEASE check your rude employees.. We are all trying to have a good time and she is trying so hard to ruin it for everyone. Maybe she needs a vacation and jealous of ours.. PLEASE DON'T let her ruin your day or your meal. read more

The salmon and grouper were delicious. Veggies were steamed to perfection. The view of the beach was really nice and we were lucky to go on a day when the weather was gorgeous. Service was decent and friendly. FYI, you can valet park at the hotel even if you don't stay there if you are eating at the restaurant or going to the spa (0-3 hours is free) and the restaurant will validate your parking to get $5 off($25/day) if you stay all day. We didn't know this initially so we had already paid for all day parking elsewhere but my parents moved their vehicle to the valet and it saved them a lot of money on parking. read more

I was on vacation and checked out Tate's. Pros - The service is excellent. Our waiter was constantly checking in to make sure we had drinks and informed of when food was coming etc - The views are beautiful. As you can see in my picture, I would highly recommend checking this place out as the sun went down. - Food was solid, more bar foodie than one would hope for because it is pricey (expected though for touristy location) - Drinks were delicious. Cons - getting in the place was a hassle. don't walk in from the beachside unless you know exactly where to go because it was rough. Go through the front of you can. read more

My wife and I visited Tate Island Grill for a coinvent dinner while staying at the Sandpearl Resort. I had the Caribbean Grouper Sandwich. A soft bun was filled with meaty but slightly dry grouper (I could not taste any Jerk seasoning), sweet overly syrupy Mango-Pineapple Chutney and plantain chips. Fresh grilled grouper on top of a Cesar salad (+dressing was delicious). The chicken quesadillas were a generous portion, traditional style, served with sour cream only. We ordered the nachos so we could get the guacamole to eat with it. ALL of it was very good, we would definitely eat there again. The desserts were showy but nothing extra. They are not made in house so they definitely tasted commercial. They were good enough to fix a sweet tooth. We definitely enjoyed the chocolate cake more than the key lime. The scenery is fantastic, the atmosphere exactly what you want in a beach bar. Drink selection is appropriate and well done. Kenny and Derek are amazing at their jobs, excellent bartenders and very entertaining and energetic. Recommend a seat at their bar any day! The chicken salad croissant? Eh, too much greens and not enough chicken salad. But the cocktails? Absolutely yes! They move so many frozen strawberry margaritas, I couldn't keep count. And they're so very helpful to the clientele, replacing spilled drinks and quesadillas that are short on chicken. Huge shoutout to Kenny and Derek here! Tate Island Waterfront Grill is located right on the beach at the SandPearl Beach Resort in Clearwater Beach and offers Seafood, Wraps, Salads, Sandwiches, Frozen Cocktails, Beer, Margaritas, Mojitos, Wines by the Glass, and kids meals with an amazing view of the beach, and the resort's pool. You can enjoy your drinks or meal in a padded lounge chair poolside, at the restaurants outdoor patio, or inside the restaurant with air conditioning which is a nice break on a hot day. Valet Parking is $23 at the SandPearl Resort for 3 hours but you get $10 off with validation from dining at Tates Island Grill or you can park at the garage across the street for $3 per hour. The fruit plate appetizer came with a vanilla yogurt and a surprisingly large amount of seasonal fruit including Blueberries, honeydew melon, cantaloupe and pineapple! The pineapple and honeydew melon were both sweet but the cantaloupe was not. 8/10 The grilled chicken Quesadillas came packed with tons of cheddar jack cheese and sides of salsa and sour cream but was missing guacamole and black beans or any other side. Do not order this if you're hungry as it is not that filling. 7/10 The Causeway Caesar salad topped with blackened Ora king salmon came with a good amount of veggies and a generous cut of salmon with it. The blackening season had a nice flavor! 9/10 The Grouper Sandwich came with a generous portion of blackened grouper, lettuce, tomato, tater sauce, and a side of chips for no up-charge. 9/10 The Pina Colada Cocktail came frozen with bacardi black rum, cream of coconut, and pineapple juice and was the real star of the day! 10/10 The Blue Pearl Cocktail is Tate Island Grill's signature cocktail and came frozen with bacardi black rum, creme De banana, coconut, and blue curacao swirl. It's a cool looking drink but I'd have to recommend the flavor of the Pina Colada over this drink. The curacao didn't mix the best with the coconut. 8/10 It took quite awhile to get our drink, get our food, and close out our bill. It was a bit longer than usual but it was busy and everyone is on island time at the beach. If you're in the Clearwater Beach area, not in a hurry, and looking for some great seafood and nice views of the beach and susnet, I highly recommend checking out Tates Island Grill, although it is a bit more expensive than other options on the beach but it has more of an upscale feel! read more

Rates is located on the beach and is attached to the Sandpearl resort. The decor is nice and the view is decent. We ordered the salmon bowl and just a garden salad. Price was high for the salad 12 and the bowl was ok. The salmon was cooked perfect. The dish did need some type of greens. It came in the huge bowl but wasn't filled, looked empty. I added the greens from the salad and it made it more complete. The drink I had was outrageous, like ridiculous $20 for a margarita. I ordered it with Mezcal which should not have made it that high. It came in about a 12 ounce cup with a lot of ice. Food ok, but find your drinks somewhere else. read more

Food and drinks are so good every single time. We got nachos and skinny pina coladas. The service has been lacking lately. Today we had Taylor B and she just ignored us for the entire time we were here. Came back once for a refill. I went to the bar to ask for another round of drinks and then she came back to another table by us and never brought the additional round. Taylor was inattentive and standoffish. We love coming to the Sand Pearl because it is convenient, however the last few times have proven that they do not have the standard they once had. Will not be coming back. read more

Okay so this place is hidden inside the sandpearl hotel on Clearwater Beach. They definitely have the view . Those are the pluses . Now for the minuses, draft beer $9 each . We got two so $19 basically for a round plus your tip and tax. I'm sorry but that's a total turn off. Am I going to order food and get another beer and so it's going to cost how much for draft beer? It's crazy! Food seemed to be reasonably priced but we didn't stay. The waiter was about as friendly as a doorknob. I guess if you're a tourist and you're staying here then it's convenient. Other than that there are so many other places on Clearwater Beach that are not trying to rip people off with draft beer prices. My advice is to move on! read more

Unfortunately it started to pour and they were unable to relocate us inside (which was strange) so our time there was cut extremely short and some of our food was ruined. For my vegans - they have an impossible burger! Skip the $2 up charge for cheese, it's just a small handful of shredded, melted cheese. The burger was good though! The food and atmosphere here are great but it's sooo over priced! The spicy margarita isn't spicy so we ended up putting Tabasco sauce in it and that helped. The portions are large, plenty to make into two meals. The homemade chips they serve with the entrees are amazing! We actually ended up ordering extra. Over all I think this place is awesome if you're on vacation but living here I can find the same quality food for less. The tables outside drip water all over you from the condensation from the drinks so we ended up asking for more napkins. You're definitely paying for the view and the beachy atmosphere. read more

I visited Tate Island Grill at the San Pearl on a Clearwater beach on a self guided bar crawl with a bunch of friends. Our server was arrogant, and unaccommodating. He made our experience at the outdoor beach bar negative while we were trying to enjoy the good weather, the beach and our friends. Also, he explained the mixed drinks on the menu did not contain the ingredients listed but were pre-made mixes and the descriptions on the menu were just to make the drinks sound fancy. That is extremely deceptive!!! When we received our checks, since we were such a large group, we could not vote with our pocketbooks by providing lower gratuity. Unfortunately the gratuity was already added on. This gave the server the ability to provide poor experience and service. Skip this beach bar, there are plenty others. read more

We were visiting the area on a busy holiday weekend. Decided to grab a bite at Tate's. After reading the reviews from fellow Yelpers. The food was delicious. The basket of French fries YUM YUM as my little one said. We had grouper nuggets (so yummy and seasoned well!); Caribbean grouper sandwich (very tasty!); jerk chicken sandwich (I didn't try it, but it looked really good also). I am pretty excited I have decided to add Tate's Island Grill to my rotation of must stop spots in Clearwater Beach when I don't have my doggie with me. I love how it's on the beach. I love how carefree and comfortable it is, and I love that I can feel like I'm in vacation mode. We came for drinks. We simply walked from the beach to here, grabbed a spot by the bar, had a nice view by the pool and the lush palm trees, and drank up our frozen drinks, a Pina colada and Miami Vice - combo of strawberry daiquiri and Pina colada. Totally froo froo and fun. You can also eat here. They have apps, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and 'sserts. This spot is perfect for when the sunset comes. You can sit by the bon fire or the hammocks. It's in the back of Sandpearl resort, but public are invited. Love this spot, and our bartender took care of us. Happy Place!!!!!! read more

If you're going to the Sandpearl resort, this is probably the best place to eat Lunch and dinner. Mo was our waitress both days and she was exceptional. Seated just off the sands of the beach. This is the quintessential restaurant that you have in mind, just right on the beach, ocean air, warm, soft silky white sand right next to the restaurant and The Ocean..breezes flowing oh so subtle.. as you're having a delectable lunch.. and maybe a refreshing drink from the bar.. the seating is mainly table, top bar stools, with reg tables nestled in between (probably so you see the ocean view) my only thing , if I had to say anything was I would like to see more comfort ability and kind of maybe a redo on the furniture but overall really great restaurant....it's right next to the pool from the hotel and the ocean right in between .. you can't beat it.
