I stopped in on a Saturday night after seeing a show, initially just for a drink, but enjoyed the vibe and ambiance so much that I ended up staying for food and a couple more drinks as well. Erin the bartender was friendly and fun, which is always especially nice when going somewhere solo, and she made great drinks! I ordered the fried burrata, which Erin said is their most popular menu item, and I can certainly see why. It was SO good. I hadn't been to Hold Fast Kitchen in over two years but I'm happy to report it's just as amazing as I remember. I came here for a quick dinner before a Broadway show. It looks like a lot of people had the same idea because it was packed, which was surprising for a Frigid winter night like tonight. There weren't any tables available when we walked in but they were able to clear bar space within five minutes. Hardly any wait. We placed our orders at the bar. The bar tenders are very attentive which I appreciate. It's not hard to get their attention. It's the same service as if you were at a table. We had to order the fried burrata and wings which are my favorite. They're the only items I've had on the menu but they're so delicious! Together they make a great entree, and definitely filling. Not far from the Theater District is a small tucked a couple of steps down from the sidewalk is Hold Fast - the restaurant reminded us of a European restaurant from a size and how it's a bit tucked away. The staff was excellent in all respects. They were attentive and funny. They have a good selection of beers and even some special local beers, which I really appreciated. They have a few dinner specials and a good selection on the regular menu. I had the vegi burger with fries and my wife had one of the specials which was a BBQ pulled pork with fries. They were both very good, the sandwiches had very good flavor and the fries yum. Check out the bathrooms when you're there - kind of fun. read more

Hold Fast was a chill spot in the middle of the bustling neighborhood with a great vibe inside and super-friendly servers who made our night as we grabbed a quick bite before a show. You can tell this spot has a bunch of regulars as the crew was chatting amongst people as they were taking orders and making drinks. That laid-back friendly atmosphere feels great amongst the hustle of the busy city. For drinks, we tried the seasonal pumpkin espresso martini which was pure perfection. Not too strong in pumpkin or overpowering with espresso, it was a perfect fall blend with a shot of energy to start the evening. We started with the fried burrata, which was exactly as expected, I'm not sure I'm into fried burrata, nothing wrong with it, but it didn't have the same punch as a 'normal' burrata appetizer or of fried mozzarella. Try it - because it's different - but know it might leave you hanging. The salad that came with the burrata had a next level dressing, not sure what it was, but wow. For drinks I got a Hugo spritz and a "killer" bees knees (aka a spicy bees knees). They were both good. My main concern with drinks is whether they'll be too sweet, and neither of them were. Incredible bartenders and owners! This was all around one of my favorite places we visited in New York City. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, the menu had something for everyone and it had a cozy vibe. I came as part of a girls trip (my sister in law, mother in law and my mom) we all instantly fell in love with Hold Fast. This was actually our second choice after coming from a show (it was a bit farther away). The first spot told us the kitchen was closing at 11pm, so we went here. I am glad we did. We walked inside and we're a little overwhelmed at the noise level. It was LOUD. Speaking with the hostess, she could not find anywhere for us to sit inside, so she offered us outside. Perfect. Outside was comfortable, well heated, and quieter - enough to enjoy a conversation without raising our voices. We sampled 4 of their house cocktails, all were great. We started with the bone marrow with soft scrambled eggs as an appetizer and it was fantastic. Best we'd ever had. Wife got two tuna tacos and I had the burger. Great quality of ingredients and portions. The really enjoyed the food. Service was exceptional. Our server was attentive, patient, and efficient. They went out of their way to make sure my wife had all the time she needed and offered recommendations when she asked for them. They also gave us a heads up when last call was happening so we could sneak another food or drink order in (NYC has limits on outdoor food service, apparently).
