Holders repaired my AC today fixing a circuit protector they installed 4 months ago. The ac tech, Dallas, was very professional when diagnosing my system. He called in to his supervisor for course of action. Holders got an electrician out ASAP to repair the wires, replaced fuse box, and installed a new breaker. The electrician was Jeromy (spelling?). On Tuesday they came out to repair my AC, was told I need a different motor, was told it would cost over $1,300, said the will repair the unit the next day. I had to pay half right there so they can order the motor, the next day I got a call from Holders, saying they can't get the motor till Monday, and it's going to cost me an additional $900. they set up a portable AC in my bedroom, today on Monday I called Holders and was told they don't have the motor till Monday, I feel all they have done was lie to me, today it's 107, and will be hot all week. read more

Holders has been extremely professional and provides consistent quality. Our A/C unit was installed 10 years ago by some company hired by the home warranty company. It was a terrible experience and they made a lot of mistakes. Within just a few years it went out repeatedly and I called in at least 3 different repair companies to fix it and they all had various fixes or "rigged" it to work. About 2 years ago it went out again and I hired Holders to diagnose and the problem and they solved the issue and got the correct parts installed. I'm now on their maintenance package and they come out every 6 months to inspect and clean it up. Every technician has been extremely professional, clean and personable. After reading the other reviews, I am puzzled! We had a delightful experience with the Holder's "Team" at the HomeShow. We threw bean bags, had a fun time conversing with the "Team" and left very happy. As a result, we called them out to reassess our situation - since our former HVAC company (which shall remain nameless) refuses to answer any of my calls - along with the company they represent "Trane" - which is so very sad...especially after having a lengthy good relationship with them always relying on them for our HVAC needs. Guess that's over...? "Trane's" motto is "You can't stop a TRANE" - well, I guess they have!!! Leo and Brandt came out and really inspected the situation and thoroughly examined the attic - going up in to all three crawl spaces. They told us all that needed to be done - and why we were constantly getting "black" dust in the house all over the place. It's been an ongoing big problem for a long time. Both Leo and Brandt were very kind, courteous, and genuine. We are looking forward to doing business with them - as soon as we get their bid! Then, I will update this review, and maybe give them five stars...but, I just do not "put the cart before the horse..." so to speak...And, at least Holder's was willing to "sweat it out" for us... read more

HOLDERS AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATING Maintenance and Repair Service Invoice # 126050196 As of writing this review I am 74 years old. When I purchased my house new in 2022, it came with a Lennox AC unit model no. ML14XC1-036 and gas furnace model no. EL195UH060NE36B that had been installed by Holders. They have both worked flawlessly for four years. During that time the equipment had not had any inspections or preventative maintenance. However, I have changed the return air filters every six months without exception. However, I was concerned about cleanliness of the outdoor AC coil and gas furnace condition and filters. Owing to the fact that Holders had installed the units, I was inclined to request maintenance service from them first on 6/8/2026. They gave me an appointment the same day between 4 PM and 8 PM. Later, one of their service engineers, Dallas Bonham, phoned me at 1:32 PM and told me he could come to see us in around 15 minutes. I consented. Dallas arrived at our residence at 1:48:50 PM. He first accessed the attic and inspected the furnace. He said the furnaces filters did not need replacements. He then went outside to inspect the AC unit. After some testing, Dallas said the capacitor was weak and he recommended replacement as continued use could result in failure of the AC unit. He also recommended that an electrical surge protector be installed at the service disconnect box. He said that electrical outages and sudden restorations of power could further stress the AC unit resulting in premature failure. These recommendations were reasonable to me but I was shocked at the verbally-quoted cost estimates totaling $934.62. Dallas said he would waive the $125 trip charge. I agreed to the performance of the repairs. He completed his work and my wife paid him via his phone despite not having a written estimate or invoice. Dallas did send us an invoice attached to an email with a timestamp at 12:45 PM. Also, we were not aware that he charged our credit card two times ($934.62 and $125.00). He left my house at 2:50:44 PM. Still suffering from "sticker shock", the following day I researched the parts and labor required for the repairs. The Lennox capacitor part no. 100335-12 is available on Amazon for $20.55 before tax. The Intermatic surge protector part no. AG3000 is available on Amazon for $73.47 before tax. I googled the labor rate for a labor rate for an HVAC technician in Bakersfield. Google replied $110 to $150 per hour. Though Dallas was onsite for 1 hour 1 minute and 54 seconds, I am allowing one hour for the installation of each part (two ho urs). So I estimate parts and labor to be $101.78 (including 8.25% sales tax) and $300.00, respectively. Total $401.78. I was invoiced $375.04 for the capacitor installed and $559.58 for the surge protector installed. And I was stilled charged the $125 trip fee. So all told I paid $1,059.62 for what I reasonably estimated at $401.78. I telephoned and spoke to Kayla at Holders on Tuesday 6/9/26 at 1:30 PM. I explained all the above concerns. I also said the AC unit was still under the 5-year manufacturer's warranty. She explained that parts price discrepancy was due to the fact that they don't get their parts from Amazon and because of the procurement and having the parts available when needed warranted the 5 to 11 times markup. Kayla said she needed to verify the warranty status of the capacitor and would phone me with the status. At 4:21 PM Kayla called and stated that the capacitor should be covered under warranty and they would refund and adjustment. On the other hand, she said the $125 trip charge was still applicable because when I requested service online I requested preventative maintenance, not repair service. Also, regarding the adjustment, Kayla said she would need to discuss it with the service manager on Wednesday. As of 2:00 PM Friday I have not heard back from her. As I wrote in another review was very satisfied with the prompt and excellent service. I just feel stupid and victimized by the expense! read more

On a Monday, our unit started leaking into our living room and I was panicking. I called Holder's and they didn't have any availability until the weekend so I had someone else come out but kept my appointment with Holder's just in case. I'm glad I did. The other company told me the whole system needed to be replaced. Roy from Holder's came out this morning and looked at it and said that was wrong. He was able to fix the problem by flushing it and doing a little "surgery" as he called it. He was great, very friendly, and thorough and I am really grateful that I don't have to fork out 20 grand for a new system. read more

I called Holders for the first time when my heat went out the day after Thanksgiving. Their phone rep was friendly and helpful at first (even replying further via text, which I found very helpful), and their technician showed up promptly. However, after diagnosing the problem, he quoted me verbally with three different options up to and including full replacement of my heating and cooling system. When I requested a quote for those in writing, he nodded agreeably, said he would send that right over, and then left, and I never got an estimate from them at all, even after requesting it separately from the same phone rep who had helped me earlier. All this might just be disappointing, except that the technician had also tried to get an extensive (and expensive) down payment from me via his phone at my doorstep without giving me anything in writing first. Since I never got my written estimate **as is my right and their obligation by law**, and the technician fled immediately after I requested one, I assumed this company was just in business to scam people out of money. I texted the phone rep back (on our existing thread, which I thought she would see) to inquire about this abrupt abandonment, and my only reply was a polite request to leave a review for them online. Whatever the reason for their failures in communication (technological, personal, or something else), their closing out my service call after I made a rightful request for the quotes in writing before I handed over any more money, made me feel like a "mark" rather than a customer. Kayla called me back to apologize directly once she saw my public review, which I appreciated, but it doesn't change the fact that the Holders technician tried to con me out of at least $1000 without giving me anything written to go on, and that is simply not okay. Always require a written estimate before paying anything more than the dispatch fee, and remember: if someone tries to push you into a "now or never" deal, it's *always* "never". We were cold and not hot; we gave Holders a shot; DISAPPOINTED! Thankfully, we got a second opinion. read more
