I will never stay at this IHG location! I was recently traveling for several days when my mother passed away. I had booked through the app month previous so I used the app to cancel. I was told they would forward my email and the manager would get back with me. I later learned that I was marked as a no show and my money for 2 rooms would not be refunded. Only if I had given them 3 days notice I could have been refunded. Like I really could have known 3 days in advance my mom would pass away?! Really??? Very cold hearted person the manager is. I know it was in her control as to me getting refunded. She knew I had contacted IHG through the app! I have been a long time customer of IHG and it's heartbreaking that someone (the manager) can be so greedy and take money away from the customer for a company that would have been fine without it! Unreal!! I would also like to add that not only did this hotel keep my money but IHG did not give me points for said money because I was, what they call, a no show even though I DID contact the company through the IHG app on that morning about my situation! We stayed here whenever we are making a road trip to visit family in Oklahoma. Very clean and accommodating. Can't complain. I was really surprised of the cost for the night for a room with a king bed and a pullout couch for our family. We also had the government rate so not sure if that had anything to do with it. Will definitely stay here again especially since there were multiple locations in Amarillo along I -40. Surprisingly we picked the same one we stayed at years ago. There is a Texas Roadhouse right across the street. We usually stop by Texas Tea across the street before we head out on the road again. My wife and l booked this Hotel from Stephanie while we were driving from Scottsdale Az. She as excellent, when we arrived we were greeted by Varum Chitkara, The Director of Operations, he not only checked us in, he recommended a Mexican Restaurant 5-minutes away that was the Best. This is a 5-Star Hotel, and there staff is 5-Star also: There is one employee that went above and beyond also: Vanessa, we left the next day at 600a and the breakfast was not opened till 630a, she asked if we wanted a care package, and she put together a bag of 2-Blueberry Muffins, 2- Bannanas, and 2-oranges, talk about going above and beyond. This place is absolutely trash!!! I HIGHLY recommend you don't stay here. The director of operations is clearly incompetent. The house keeper walked in on my wife changing. We were NOT past the check out time. The house keeper did NOT knock on the door. She just walked right in. Funny thing is the Director of operations was trying to blame this on me saying it was my fault for not putting a do not disturb sign on my door. Ive stayed at least 50-75 different hotels in my life and have NEVER had this problem. The Director of operations tried to make things right by uploading 5,000 points into my account which is equivalent to like $25.... Such a joke and slap in the face. Wife and I stayed here while passing through and booked while driving. We should've priced other hotels before booking because we noticed this location was particularly higher than others; $149 here and other location $89. Check in was easy, room was nice & clean, beds are comfy with fluffy pillows, has mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, safe for valuables. Water pressure was low to medium range and the walls are thin as we could hear our neighbors talking and hear us as well apparently and our TV lol. Nice hotel with plenty of parking and restaurants nearby, has indoor pool and hot tub, fitness area, breakfast area (we didn't try). We had a good rest, again nice clean hotel but pricing is much more than the other Holiday Inn off West Amarillo Boulevard and surrounding areas. read more

Tired property in Amarillo. Covid protocols were very up to date per Holiday Inn standards. Contactless check-in. Our room was advertised as not having been occupied for the 24 hours period before our arrival. Lots of services in the immediate area. We were encouraged by the Covid compliance of the guests. Everyone we saw was mask compliant. Holiday Inn has a "please wear your masks" all over the property, which is very good. Free WiFi is less than desirable. Room seemed clean when we first walked in, however when I pulled the bed spread back... lets just say I was not happy. Disgusting is the first word that came to mind. I will say the young lady at the desk immediately brought a change for us and with my wife's help the new linens were installed. Very disappointing though-so LETS GO BIDEN! My wife and I are in town for a family emergency...Memorial Day and graduations going on....trying to find a room here was next to impossible but she was able to do it. This is a awesome hotel is what I thought until we left on Friday morning the day after Thanksgiving. My son started itching like crazy and when I looked, he had huge whelts on his neck, shoulders and arms. I am beyond mortified. This is without a doubt, bedbugs. He stayed in room 103. The bed was comfortable and the room quiet which are pluses but the towels were old and hard and rough. The shower plumbing was loose in the wall and there was a broken tile in the elevator that had been taped poorly and obviously not repaired in a timely fashion. I'm hate property owners that are too cheap to keep the place up. There was a piece of wall missing in the elevator. It appears they have all the business they can wish for and we are paying for it in poor upkeep. read more

When I'm traveling long distance I don't ask for much in a hotel beyond the basic amenities and affordability; I want a safe, clean room, convenient ice and pop machines, and cleanliness. I was pleasantly surprised by this Holiday Inn Express. It had electronic doors which kept me from having to put my bags down to enter the lobby. The receptionist was professional in both dress and behavior. The lobby was well-kept. My upstairs room was a nice size ("roomy," I'd say) and very clean. The bed was oh-so-comfortable - I actually let out an audible sigh when I laid down on it (I was tempted to book a second night just so I wouldn't have to get out of bed the next day.) I noticed that they use "triple sheeting," which means a bottom sheet, top sheet, blanket, then a third sheet. This "blanket sandwich" probably helps them feel better about putting a blanket that isn't laundered daily between two freshly laundered (I hope!) sheets. I kinda like the idea, although I prefer freshly laundered blankets. The continental breakfast was nothing special but was timely, tasty and hit the spot. I made a biscuit sandwich out of the biscuit, scrambled eggs and sausage offered. Checkout was a breeze; my bill was slipped under the door so all I had to do was drop the key off at the front desk as I walked out. I have seen good reviews for this hotel going back to 2004, which tells me they are doing a great job keeping up the furnishings and the decor. I would recommend this hotel to other travelers. read more

This is our first stay at a Holiday Inn Express. We booked online. Everything looked exactly like the online photos. The lobby was very bright and clean. We had a first floor room. The room was immaculately clean and odor free. The family used the pool and hot tub which were great after being on the road the entire day. Breakfast started at 6:30. This property is fine; however, in October 2016, I called the General Manager, Priscilla Mendoza, to make a state contracted reservation. Even though the hotel is NOT in contract with the state, she agreed verbally to make the reservations and asked me to call back the first part of November. I sent her an email to confirm and just let her know who I was for future reference. She responded accordingly and cordially. November rolls around...Not only did I call three times, I sent two reply emails to her. No response. No call back. Nothing. I still have the email which I sent her in October which includes her response. Now, I know that she is under no responsibility to make my reservation, however, I do feel like she is under some responsibility to respond!! Even if it was "Hey, sorry I can't accommodate you this time around." I would have appreciated at least that much and wouldn't be writing this review. I should also note, we've stayed at this property NUMEROUS times in the past. So much so, that when we would walk in, the staff would smile and say "Y'all are back!!" So disappointed. read more

I have noticed a general decline in the quality of many of the Holiday Inn Express hotels over the years (rooms not clean, cutting back on amenities, etc.) but I am usually willing to overlook those annoyances if the customer service is good, and the hotel staff is responsive. At this particular hotel however, not only are the rooms mediocre at best, should you have any issues with your bill or any problems with any other part of your stay, well that is just too bad! I won't write a whole book about all of the problems, I will just say this hotel is right on the highway, so a lot of noise and traffic. The rooms are not clean, the food is the cheapest they can possibly get away with serving, and be sure to read the fine print regarding policies when checking in! I realize each of these hotels is run by a different individual, but seriously, for the money there are many other and better options nearby. Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else. read more

We made a Priceline reservation late evening. Upon arrival, I gave the woman my name for the Priceline reservation. Until receiving my credit card statement and reviewing charges, I realized I was charged from Holiday Inn and Priceline. She booked me a new reservation without letting me know she couldn't find a Priceline reservation. (Sidenote, the front desk girl was having Taco Bell delivered as well when I was upfront. After getting into our room she actually called us close to 1 AM to tell us she gave us someone else's room. We were not about to change rooms as this point. My receipt actually shows another individual's address.) I called the hotel and Priceline but both said there is nothing we can do. So I was double charged and no one would rectify the situation. Additionally, Priceline stated there was no pet fees and we even called to verify. We arrived at midnight and was informed upon check-in there is a $40/pet fee. Without a lot of options at this point, we paid the fee. I am not one to write bad reviews typically but to end up paying over $550 between Priceline and Holiday Inn with no one able to help with even a partial refund, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. read more

I stayed at this property at the end of August and won't be staying there again.. Hot water doesn't work well. Room temp set at 62 turned the heat on and set off the fire alarm.. no precautions taken with regards to condiments and tables. Nothing wiped down after service. Manager really didn't let me share my concerns she kept cutting me off and saying I took care of it. You might have "taken care of it" after my check out but not during my stay. read more

Nice and very modern hotel. It took me a while to figure out the touch pad light switch on the LED lamp, and hidden rocker switch in the wall that controls hidden lights. The wall also has a USB plug for charging your device, and some other new tech electronic things I didn't figure out. One wall in the lobby has a large touch screen device for finding local restaurants, activities, tours, etc. Wi-fi was fast and reliable. The desk clerk was helpful and quick despite being very busy. She gave me a discount card for the Texas Roadhouse restaurant across the parking lot. I was going to find a Texas Roadhouse when I arrived in Amarillo, so I was pleasantly surprised to find one right there by the hotel. Some other restaurants were also within walking distance. The room was large and very clean and nice. It had lots of built in drawers and counter space for luggage, computers, devices, etc. A mini kitchenette had a good frig, microwave, and even a sink. The spacious bathroom does not have a urinal for men to pee standing up, nor a bidet for personal cleanliness. After a week on the road I used their guest laundry which was also clean and nice. The TV controller worked. That is becoming rare among the hotels I've stayed at the past couple of weeks. The power plug outlets on the computer desk are adaptable to a wide variety of different plug styles from other countries. There was easy access from I-40 and plenty of free parking. Two negatives: 1. The pool hours do not accommodate early morning people. Why do they have hours on the pool anyone? Its not like it takes a staff lifeguard. 2. The ubiquitous security cameras give little feeling of privacy. The complementary breakfast had sausage, bacon, eggs, and other yummy things. I'm a fan. This hotel was barefoot friendly. read more

Driving from Ohio to Arizona we stopped in Amarillo for dinner. It was approx 7:30pm and our destination was another hour and a half. It was dark out so we decided to just stay in Amarillo for the night. We walked into this holiday inn express and was kindly greeting by the concierge. She gave me a aaa discount and my total was only $90 for the night. We were in our hotel room in under five minutes. Amazing service. Also the FREE breakfast slapped. The had Cinnabon and multiple different coffee creamer options. 10/10 read more

Great rates, very clean. Amazing beds!! We stayed in the King suite, the first one next to the lobby so was very worried it would be noisy but we never heard anything. Maybe it was bc we were so exhausted or maybe it was bc the bed was so awesome. Did I mention the heavenly bed? Choice of firm or soft pillows. Hot tea and coffee choices in the room Breakfast was the typical carb fest, but there was bacon, sausage and eggs. Cereal, pastries, yogurt, biscuits also available. The breakfast hostess needs to work on her people skills. I recognize she was swamped but a smile goes a long way. Either that or she needs more help on a holiday weekend. People were waiting for her to restock. Hours need to be later on the weekends, should be served later than 9:30. Sergio at the front desk was very friendly. Breakfast brought the rating from a five star to a four star rating. read more

First hotel stop on our cross country journey! Hotel is right off the highway, within walking distance of a number of highly Yelp-reviewed restaurants. It was clean and our surprisingly large room was comfortable (we were on the top floor, at the end of the building). I liked that they had a fitness center, which was a joy to go to after 10 hours sitting in a car. The complimentary breakfast was better than I thought it would be: a pancake machine, baked goods, meats, scrambled and hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, etc. Better yet, this hotel had free wifi in the room, which was wonderful! I loved my stay at this Holiday Inn. I had just traveled a few hundred miles on a motorcycle, and I was hot and sweaty. I found the room to be incredibly comfortable, everything was clean, and I enjoyed my stay so much I wished I was going to be in town for another night so I could enjoy it some more. The front desk clerk greeted me, was polite, and efficient. We asked for restaurant recommendations, and he helped us find what we were looking for. I found the breakfast in the morning to be pretty good, too. The business center was easy to use, but I would have liked a faster / more reliable connection. Surfing for information we needed (route information for driving the next day, hotel information, etc. as we traveled to Sturgis, Sd. was difficult to get because everything was slow). We liked this hotel so much we booked a night at the Holiday in Express in Fort Collins, Co. for the following night. Unfortunately that hotel wasn't as nice, but I'll save that for another review. read more

The room was Very clean and spacious. Loved having a fridge and microwave. The staff were great- they get 5 stars. The reason this place gets only 3 stars is because the walls are incredibly thin. I suspect there were at least 6 kids (ages 10 and older) in one of the rooms next to us. We could hear conversations from the folks on the other side too. I wear ear buds at night and I could still hear someone's music. And the "new" bed in our room was very hard. We will stay elsewhere the next time we are in town. read more

I did with in 3 hours of making a reservation. I tried to get to the hotel. Exhausted from driving pulled on a resting area. I called to let them know and they charge 100%. Scammers! From the cheerful and helpful customer service (Carmen was amazing!) to the truly luxurious bedding and furniture, almost everything about this place made it feel like a hotel twice as expensive as it was. The rooms all look freshly renovated with new beds, carpeting, lighting, etc. The AC works beautifully without being too loud, and the doors feel secure and stable. My only complaint was that there was this awful constant knocking noise coming from the walls - it sounded like the piping or something, but it was loud enough to wake us up throughout the night. For one night it was fine, especially since the comfortable bed helped lull us to sleep, but if we were staying any longer we may have asked for a different room. Other than that, this is an absolute steal. We're so pleased and will definitely come again if we ever pass through Amarillo in the future. read more

I made a reservation here on my IHG app by mistake and then deleted it on my app then made another reservation at the Amarillo West-Medical Center. About a week later I was looking at my credit card account and the Holiday Inn I canceled had also billed me. After exhaustive effort with the hotel and IHG they refused to credit back the money to my account. Undoughtedly I'll not be staying here again. read more

I have stayed here for years but the quality is going down. Yes, the paint is new and they remodel and put in their weird modern furniture which all looks cheap. This time the ceiling in the suite rm 217 looked very damaged, must have had a water leak but you need to fix it. We called for a plumber twice but the front desk preferred to move us because maintenance wasn't there. We declined and someone came. More plumbing issues the following day. Breakfast was plain awful. The pancake machine was broken, the biscuits were cold and the apple juice was so watered down, it wasn't worth drinking. This is not where you want to cut corners. Wow, what an incredible place! It is really pretty from the outside and in a great location. There is a yoga studio less than half a mile away, and also very very close by is a Market Street, which is a big grocery store that is like 50% Whole Foods-eque with a good selection of organic foods and beauty items. The location of the hotel is very safe - the entrance is not facing the street, nor is the parking lot, so it seems kind of out of sight. There are restaurants all around - Texas Roadhouse is basically in its backyard, for example, and I saw a Saigon Restaurant in the corner. The rooms are awesome. I showed up on the spot and got a room for $119, which I thought was good. The room is spacious, has a bathtub, a flat screen with cable, and it even has its own little kitchen sink, microwave, AND mini-fridge. The person at the front desk was really nice. There is a little snack room where there are wraps and frozen lemonade, cup of noodles, mac and cheese, etc., and the breakfast nook has hot water always for your tea or whatever you need hot water in. I didn't use the indoor pool (I always feel I'm getting high on the non-ventilated chlorine), but it looked really nice and is open until 10pm. The little gym is open until midnight. I was just too busy doing yoga and going organic grocery shopping to have time to do the other stuff. Anyway, it was very convenient because it is about a block away from I-40, yet not scary. lol. I would definitely recommend this if you want something safe, good quality, and convenient. Everything is just really made easy here. read more
