I have rediscovered Holiday inn in the last few months. I might be the pickiest person alive when it comes to hotel beds. They seem Like bricks but holiday inn has upgraded to really nice beds- so far all The ones we have stayed on have been on the less brick side and very comfortable. Their pillows are really nice now, very fluffy and a few to pick from depending on how you like the pillow. Rooms have been redone and it was very clean. Loved their restaurant for breakfast- they have booths- and you can pick off the menu as part of the included breakfast. Staff was very nice all Around. Had a great time in the pool, as well. read more

$100+ in fees is wild!. On top of that, I was charged with a $20 fee when I called them up they said I had charged 2x Ice Creams to my room. None of which I order at all. Plus side, breakfast was great. Rooms were OK. Did it balance out the fees? I'd say No. read more

This is my first 3 day stay at this hotel and after reading the reviews I can see what some are saying but I've had much worse stays at hotels. In order to rate the hotel I'll rate several areas of importance and then summarize my thoughts. Room size = 4.5 Bed quality = 4 Sheets and comforter = 4 Bathroom quality = 4 Amenities = 4 (coffee maker, fridge, plenty of soaps and towels. Price =2 (prices are similar to California or NY) Restaurant = 3.5 (a little pricey and slow, but the service was pleasant and food was good) House keeping = 2.5. The first day they made the bed and put another shampoo bottle in the bath but left all my towels on the floor?? Front desk = 5. very friendly and helpful. They did initially mess up my bill but the front desk clerk was super apologetic and corrected it immediately. The stay was nice but I'm used to paying $50 to $70 less a night for the same hotel in other parts of the world. Location, location, location I suppose. I'm teetering between a 3 and a 4 and maybe on my next stay if things go better I'll bump them up to a 4. I'll stay here again if it's priced well in line with other surrounding hotels. This is the third Holiday inn we stayed for our road trip from CA to Portland, this is the second best of the three holiday inn. The first place goes to the one in Bend. This Holiday inn may need to touch up the shower wall, other then that every thing is fine. The front desk guy, Joseph was very friendly and offer best customer service, he was very patient with the senior customer in front of us. After he helped us, he did a follow call to the room and make sure we are happy with the room. Very warm phone call! I will recommend this hotel to my friends! read more

I am shockingly disgusted by our stay here. Unfortunately it has been one thing after another during our stay. Here is a list I've put together to encompass our experience: *Nobody wants to hang their towels above the toilet. Please think about moving the towel racks in the restroom. *The coffee station was not freshly stocked. My boyfriend and I shared one cup, and there were not a lot of options. *Large stain on the shower floor. *Long black hair on one of the shower towels. *When I called the front desk for a couple extra towels and more coffee stuff, I was told I could have the coffee items but not the towels; they are having a shortage on clean towels. I'm sorry but this is hard to believe during Covid when I know they aren't at full capacity. *Welcoming us every time we returned were two overflowing trash cans guarding the front doors. I don't know if they've emptied them once since we arrived. *Trash in the hallway of our floor (specifically beer cans) was present upon arrival on Friday and still sitting there right in and on the ice machine as I write this review on Sunday. *To top off our stay, this morning we opened our room door to be greeted by a fresh, USED, FULL condom!!!! Absolutely disgusting. LOOK- I get it, I'm not blaming the hotel employees for the condom, because it was obviously some sick joke some other guests were playing- but come i am disappointed in how they dealt with the situation. I expected them to apologize, rush to clean it up and at least offer a price adjustment but they ignored my boyfriend when he brought it to their attention and then finally believed him once he showed them the picture! The man finished the discussion by offering to add points to my IHG account. DURING COVID OF ALL TIMES- the cleanliness of this hotel is not up to any standards at all!!!!! I can't express to you how disappointed I am with their priorities clearly not worrying about COVID at all. I have traveled the world and stayed in many hotels- this is probably the worst experience I've ever had. We will not be back. read more

One star for the front desk! Really great customer service from all of them. Thank you! That's where it ends... REALLY questionable cleanliness. To the point of possible health hazard. Thankfully, I brought my own Clorox wipes. The shower floor looks like it hasn't been cleaned in 6 months. And the comfortor, sheets AND pillowcases have large stains. Imagine what you cannot see!! Not confidence inspiring especially during a health pandemic. I'm really hoping I won't get a foot disease from the disgusting shower or other floor surfaces which probably weren't cleaned. And all you are looking forward to after a long day of travel is a good shower. I hope a city health inspector sees this and takes notice. This is not safe for anyone! read more

The cafeteria was terrible it was located in this salem oregon holiday in on market Street. In this cafeteria they had a small choice of overpriced food I ordered two small pancakes and they charged me 10 dollars and had very little butter coffee there was 2.50 charge for this cup of coffee. This hotel had no breakfast bar And buffet they did help me there after complaining about a remote that did not work on the hotel tv set the staff seemed to be very friendly it tok the staff a long time to fix the tv problem I feel like there are better hotels that do provide a nice breakfast buffet in the morning and this holiday in should be providing a free buffet in the morning read more

The Holiday In Salem, Oregon is a little gem close to the downtown area and Willamette University. The rooms are comfortable and have ample storage. Each time I've stayed, the rooms and bathrooms have been immaculately clean. The staff is professional and very helpful. The other gem, in this hotel, is the restaurant. The first time I ate their, my family and I had dinner on Christmas night. I wasn't expecting much, however, I was pleasantly surprised. Our server, Tiffanie, was wonderful. She knew the menu was able to guide my vegetarian daughter and husband to a perfect meal. I has the salmon, which was excellent and cooked perfectly. Their drinks were a great surprise. I had the margherita (peach with jalapeno). Wow, it popped. I had had only 3 drinks that year, but at this hotel I had 2 so my total went to 5. The atmosphere, drinks and food made for a really nice Christmas dinner. Tiffanie was so pleasant and sweet, she made our night. We had travelled 9 hours and were really tired. She was a nice boost to our spirits and made our dinner a 10 out of 10. If you visit Salem this is the hotel and restaurant to stay. I hope you get Tifannie, as your server. I would not recommend this hotel. I reserved 2 rooms for my family and my sister in laws family. Among us both we have 5 kids from 1-11 years old. Upon arrival at 4pm our rooms were not clean and ready. Finally when they had rooms ready we were not able to be close to each other, one room had no toilet paper, the other had no tv remote. My room did not have carpet but linoleum wood. The floors were so dirty it was disgusting. I gave my kids a bath and not even 2 hours after their feet were filthy. We spoke to the front desk at check out and all he said was that he'd speak to management. I called and filed a complaint with corporate but was told at this point I wouldn't be compensated for my stay or be given a credit. First and foremost, I prefer the Holiday Inn Express chain, not because their the best, but in my experience they're a consistant hotel. Facilities are usually nice, clean, and the people are friendly. With that said, I have no idea what is going on at the Holiday Inn Express in Salem on Market Street. Room was dirty when I arrived, and the elevator leading up to my room had moisture on the floor and smelled like urine. The alarm clock in my room didn't work, so I called the front desk to have them fit it; they couldn't. So I asked for a wake up call from the front desk. The next morning, I woke up late because I never got a wake up call. This occurred on the second day as well. Then to add injury to insult, someone used their room key, unlocked my door, and stepped inside before realizing it was already occupied and backing out the door. Then my room key did not work; leading me to believe a strangers card was activated to open the door to my room, and mine was mistakenly deactivated. Fortunately for me, I was inside my room when the situation occurred. But holly molly, I've never experienced anything like this as a complete stranger had access to my room and all my belongings. Luckily I was present. This Holiday Inn Express is not on par with the countless others I have stayed in without issue. read more

If the hotel is on par with its restaurant, it will not be around long. My friend and I went to the Capitol City Grill for lunch which, according to their website and painted sign on the door, is open from 6 AM until 10 PM (although the sign reads "Until close"). We approached the desk clerk who said the restaurant is closed from 10 AM until 4 PM. When I told him this was contrary to not only their website but also the sign painted on the entry door glass, he looked confused. As we walked away, he walked to the restaurant to examine the sign from the inside. If the staff and management can't decide when their restaurant is even open, what does that say about the hotel? read more

Bed was nice and that's kinda where it ended, the room is not laid out right at all look at the desk chair and tv. Also this room is not finished fixtures missing. Then you look at the breakfast menu ( see pictures) super high prices across the board, no wonder no one was in the bar or restaurant last night. So to sum it up prices to high, rooms not finished and strange layout and jumbled wires. I'll pass next time. So after switching rooms ( to a room with no hot water ) talking almost every day to the front desk or manager I have to say I'm never coming back. This place is not run correctly. Right now I getting ready for my last cold shower then I get to check charges to my card to make sure I was not charged again for a room that my company paid for and then I'm free from this nightmare. So far, so good. Very friendly front desk staff. Warm welcome greetings upon arrival. Even though we were a little early, room was ready for us to check in. Finally, Holiday Inn got it right. No bathtub!! Only a shower. Much more room and the bathroom feels bigger too! Yes! This is the way to go. Let those travelers request a room with a tub. The rest of us will hop into a shower. One again, Holiday Inn is the industry leader. Outstanding service went hand in hand when we had a tiny hiccup with the breakfast vouchers. No worries here-Dan, the GM was on it and cleared up the miscommunication with grace and professionalism. He couldn't have been more accommodating to us! This property, it's GM and all the staff are the benchmarks upon which all Holiday Inn hotels should look to as their example of excellence. read more

Traveled from California to visit family in Salem and from the moment we arrived to the moment we left it was nothing but a positive experience. The staff was very friendly, the facilities were clean, and whenever we called the front desk for extra towels or bed sheets they were at our door within minutes. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars were a few little nitpicks like the cable on the TV wasn't working one morning, the hot and cold faucets were opposite on our kitchen sink, there wasn't a vending machine on our floor (as it was advertised), and I couldn't find a large trash can (beside the small ones in our room) on our floor and I had to walk outside the hotel to throw away a large item. Other than those little things we had a positive experience and will definitely stay here when we return to Salem. read more

Was there for a conference. They do not understand how to properly treat their guest. The place is cold & unprofessional. The interior is new and nice but if the service lacks then what does nice furniture mean. We tried to eat in the cafeteria but they kicked me out. So we were only allowed in our conference room even though our room table was filled with books and laptops. I am used to receiving full accommodations for anything. Also, the tile floors make it so that we heard everyone who used luggage rack roll by. They were vacuuming so it was hard to hear our speaker. So many things. I definitely will not stay there. The worst Holiday Inn that, as a Gold member, I've ever experienced. Indifferent front desk staff. No free coffee or breakfast (and other Holiday Inn's provide this-- not just HI Express). Small room. Spotty housekeeping. In a 7 night stay, trash not emptied several times. Insufficient towels and supplies unless we left a note. And one night the room was not even made up. If I could give this hotel a 0 I would do so. And to cap things off, when I attempted to post review to HI website, it indicated there was no record of my stay. If you are in the Holiday Inn "points" family, do yourself a favor and stay at Holiday Inn Kizer several miles north. We usually stay at HI Express and often HI Inn, where we expect a higher level of service. This hotel is shameful and I will be contacting corporate as well. read more

My little family stayed 1 night. And there was nothing we could find wrong! The hotel does not have a sauna/hot tub FYI! the room was spacious with beautiful furniture. The bathroom was HUGE but had a tiny tub!! The water pressure was lacking but obviously worked for what we needed. We will be staying here again! read more

Looking for a politically biased hotel? With a bait and switch scheme. You found it! Every TV is on the same channel. The room TVs are set to the same channel and the "quick reference " guide for channels doesn't have the "other" side in it. That's ok with me actually, just found it entertaining that a business would do that. The bait and switch was the "New" comment I saw on the Add that got me to book this place. It's not "NEW". It is Remodeled. The lobby is really nice. The rooms, not so much. The neighbors next to me had a conversation that I was fully engulfed in. I heard every detail, until I turned in the TV and they realized I could hear them. Then they whispered all night. Yep, heard that too. The bed.... yea, hard as a rock. Every expense saved there. The bathroom had good water pressure, but the "new" shower was actually painted for the remodel and it was lifting everywhere. Plus there was mold in the cracks that were hard to reach. Nice try on the remodel, but failed. The price reflects "new" for the area as a FYI. read more

Stayed 2 nights beds so comfortable ..it was so clean and cozy... great customer service the offered me water while I was waiting to check in.. the Rooms have coffee/ tea , microwave, refrigerator, and the coffee is real good The soap is wonderful and they even have a special personal touch, Neutrogena face wash. WOW.....I see several 2 stars reviews here but I have to decry their assessment. Credit where credit is due. Whoever is managing this Holiday Inn is doing a GREAT job. I travel extensively for business and consider myself an experienced Road Warrior. This is not the first time I felt compelled to write a review but this place is that good and needs one. First, their team is exceptional. Everyone I encountered went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Sabrina, exudes all the qualities thought in the customer service training. She is amazing, a real asset to this management team. Second, the property and my room were immaculate. All around the property reflects a modern decor. The room is of adequate size and comfort. You can tell that there's a lot of pride on this team. I'v stayed at Marriott and Hilton properties recently and this service was just as good here. Well done!! Stayed overnight for a mid-week company training course in Salem. I haven't been in a Holiday Inn for a while, but have stayed in hotels both domestic & internationally. I was pleasantly surprised! Overall it was clean, well furnished with updated styling and my room was more than adequate. All the usual things plus some, like a Kuerig with 4 pods, mini-microwave & fridge, a stand alone wardrobe with rolling chest-o-drawers, laptop caddy, desk and another seating option for a digital device. Lots of lighting, mirrors and a step in shower. There were more USB charging slots than any other room I've ever been in! Plenty of places for those ubiquitous screens and digital devices. The TV had HDMI, but I was unable to find the menu choice to change the "source" so I could watch my own movie. There was an open wi-fi channel should you need it. It was well laid out and made use of nearly every inch of space in a small floor plan. I found it quiet, extremely clean and the vending/ice only a few steps away from my room and the elevators. I did find 1 cigarette mark on the carpeting (non-smoking room), but no residual smoke smell at all. Another small glitch, the alarm clock could not be set so I had to use my phone instead. I ate in the restaurant and it was adequate, nothing too fancy and basic fare in a clean well-set ambiance. My coworker and I were happy with both the service and the meal. The company sponsored breakfast buffet was the usual, well stocked and served by the staff. No complaints there either. The staff at reception was prompt and friendly although my coworker said the male receptionist was a little snooty, but I did not experience that at all. This hotel was awesome! We are a group of 3 and they accommodated us without notice, they are very affordable and the only downside was that we had a room with a king sized bed and a cot in the corner, which made the room itself a lot smaller but aside from that if you're ever in Salem and needing a place to stay, this is definitely a great place to go! read more

Stayed there a couple days ago and the stay was wonderful! The bed was very comfy, usually I don't get a good night sleep when I sleep at hotels, but the couple nights I slept there I did.
