Wow! Holly Hott lives up to her name!!! I have been getting my "goldilocks" cut and colored by her since 1997 and she always makes great suggestions and keeps my hair looking as good and as current as her last name (and yes, it is her REAL name)! I didn't have an appointment today and considering tomorrow is Christmas Eve I had a feeling everyone would be booked SOLID. I'm new to the area (used to get my hair done in HB) and had no clue where to go. I pulled up Yelp and found this place. I called and asked if they had time for a walk-in. I just needed a trim, nothing fancy. The girl that answered was super friendly and let me know they could accommodate me right away, wow, that was easy! As I drove there I started to think, they must not be busy if they had an opening right away, what kind of a place is this. Well I arrived to a fairly large salon BUZZING with tons of people. The place was packed! I guess everyone was trying to get their hair done before the holidays. The receptionist was very friendly, offered something to drink, showed me to the changing room right away and let me know my stylist would be right with me. Less than 3 mins later, in comes Landon, my stylist. He was extremely friendly, really listened to what I wanted and cut my hair exactly as I asked. He made some friendly "small talk" but it wasn't overbearing (I don't know about you but I hate having to talk throughout my entire cut. I'd rather read my magazine and get pampered) this was a perfect amount of "get to know ya" talk. He was quick, did a good job with the blow out and I was on my way. He wasn't pushy with products, in fact he asked me earlier what I used and that was about it. I HATE going up to pay and dreading the "the stylist recommended this for your hair" and pushy sales. Its always awkward saying no and I always "pretend" like I'm contemplating making the purchase. The salon was clean, they were very friendly and accommodating, and my stylist was great. I was very impressed with the service and hair cut I got at Holiday Salon. A group of my friends and I had been looking for a good salon at a decent price in Costa Mesa, and were recommended to go here. I booked two cuts and two cut/colors here, and the end results on all four women's hair was beautiful. My friends went to Remy for a cut/color, and Meegan for a cut, and recommend them both. As for my personal experience, I received a cut from Lindsay ($70), and would definitely go back. I have long hair that has a curl or wave to it, depending on the length, and she was able to shape it really well. Lindsay gave me some of the best long layers I've ever had, without taking off much length. She listened to my requests before starting, and asked for my guidance and clarification on what I wanted though out the cut, which I really appreciated. She seemed to know hair really well, and recommended products that fit with my hair's needs. I just went in and had an appointment with Troy and thank God I did! Troy took care of me with a tint (no more gray ) and highlights and I was in and out of there within an hour and 15 minutes. They're best friends and great business partners. With all the latest trends in hair these ladies are constantly taking classes or are traveling to LA to NY to get their education. I have been looking for somewhere to get the Keratin Complex treatment for quite a while now. My hair always gets frizzy out at night with the moisture around the beach areas and I was really nervous to do a straightening treatment on my already delicate hair, as I had been told it can be damaging. That is when someone suggested I try the Keratin complex because it will not damage your hair and will take care of all the frizz. So I went to Holiday Salon and got the Keratin Complex treatment done by Megan Cameron. She did am amazing job, and after the initial treatment my hair felt like butter and was so smooth, I didn't think it could possibly last! I am very happy to say that it has been a month and my hair still feels and looks amazing!! From someone with frizzy thick hair which previously took me 45 min to blow dry and straighten, I can now blow dry my hair in 5-10 min tops and it is perfect. My stylist, Sara, did a great job with my color, the cut was nice, and so was she, but there's something about paying more than $200 for a cut and color that leaves a sour taste in my mouth. SO not worth it. I really can't complain about this place except for the price - especially since I wasn't made aware of the cost up front. Does that make me cheap? Perhaps. If you are a blonde, then you probably know the challenges of getting just the "right" blonde for your skin type. Shamane is a master!! I have been going to her for over 6 years. I drive from Los Angeles to Orange County because of her. Not only is the shade correct, but I have never had another stylist do color on me that grows out so gracefully. In the past, I would come home from the salon and feel like I had roots 2 days later. Even when I'm overdue for color, my hair doesn't have that horrific "black roots" look. I am completely picky when it comes to my hair color. I don't like the Courtney Love rock n' roll roots look for myself (although it looks good on some girls who can pull off that edgy vibe). When I leave Shamane, I always say "Phew, I'm back to being a 'natural blonde.' LOL!" If you want something more current, I have seen her work doing ombre, and it is lovely. Again, it's not my vibe, but on the girls who can pull it off, it rocks! In addition to Shamane's fantastic handle on the craft of color, She is a very special person... I look forward to my appointments just to hang out with her. She is creative, super sweet, listens very well to what you want, and has the talent to execute your dream look. She takes her time, and I never feel rushed out or like she is overbooked. Even though I'm just a regular person, she makes me feel like a celebrity with her attention to detail. I have paid insane amounts of money for my hair color, been highlighting my hair for 30 plus years, been to some of the best salons in LA, OC, and Hawaii, am a very loyal client (don't jump around- I give a stylist a chance), and Shamane is the best around. Her prices are reasonable, and if you are even thinking about doing a commute to go to her, I would encourage you to give her a try at least once. If you live locally, then you are blessed. I don't think you will be disappointed!! On a side note, my sister has been going to Holly for at least twice as long as I have been seeing Shamane. Her hair cuts and color are insanely beautiful. We have also had Mischa do make-up, eye-brow waxing, and eye-brow tinting. I wouldn't trust anyone else as much as this crew for beauty no matter what your style- from natural to edgy. Very disappointed with my first visit here for a simple trim to my long A-line bob. At the outset I was very clear that I wanted a steep angle from back to front, but I ended up having to keep coaching the stylist to taper the back to reduce the bulk and make it appear more angled.
