I have been going to this salon for about a month now. I am on my 5th SNS manicure, which I LOVE! It is so much better than the gel manicure. There is no chipping or lifting with this type of manicure, which is awesome. I can usually go about 3 weeks before needing another. Everyone at this salon does a fantastic job and they try their best to keep everyone happy. Because it is so close to SU, they can be super busy during school, but they do take appointments. I came in upon recommendation by a friend, but I was extremely disappointed in the service. Upon walking in, the nail salon was disorganized and there was a funky smell. The metal tools were sterilized, but the rest of the tables and towels felt unclean. I asked for a gel/Shellac french manicure with a light nude color base, which my initial nail technician did not know how to do, and after explaining and showing a picture he started. I had grown out my nails specifically for a French, and before I could even say something he just trimmed them all extremely short. My tips were drawn on uneven, and when I pointed this out he redid them a few times before giving up. He asked to switch with another nail technician who I believe was the owner and was a bit more detail-oriented; however, the exchange wasn't without muttering a few lines in Chinese saying I was a difficult customer and too picky. (Perhaps... but the lines weren't straight AND they forgot the base nude coat?! They hadn't realized that I knew Mandarin and understood everything they said--it was absolutely infuriating for me.) The rest was okay, they did a decent job with my pedicure and had a good selection to choose from. My nails and toes lasted a long time. Keep in mind they curate your nails under UV light for the duration they work on your other hand, leaving you exposed to light for longer than 2 minutes for each layer. They had fans for drying and offered snacks during the wait. For how many mistakes and redoes there were, the full price seemed a bit exorbitant considering you could get better customer service elsewhere. Overall, this place is nice if you want a no frills (no massage, wraps, nail soak) manicure and it's especially good for something more basic, such as a simple nail shape with a single color. The owners seem to be open to suggestion, but there might be a cultural and communication barrier. They are extremely flexible with walk-ins and appointments, and do offer a small student discount for those in college. read more

I went to Holly's nail salon on a Saturday and they had very few staff members working, which caused a long wait and quick/poor service. Along with the busyness, my friend asked for a foot massage and an employee laughed in her face and said no because they were too busy. Furthermore, My nails were done extremely poorly. There were air bubbles in the polish, every nail was very streaky and the color was on very thin. Additionally, within two days every nail had a chip in it, and now a week out my nails are almost completely polish free because of the chipping. this was the worst manicure that i have ever gotten in my entire life. first of all when i first sat down the chair was sticky and so was the table. my girl then proceeded to clean the table off w a nail file and dirty rag. she didn't soak my gel polish off or my cuticles she just filed both. all of my cuticles are still there and honestly look worse then when i came in. the staff were very nice but clearly did not know what they were doing. definitely won't be back again (low prices are enticing for students but sooo not worth it) read more

The guy doing my nails had absolutely no idea how to soak it off and ended up not getting it all off after trying for 45 minutes. Nails always break a day or two after I leave, they talk about their customers in front of their face and the only one who speaks a little bit of English is David. They give you the wrong nail kit, they bang on your shoulders and call it a massage (without your permission might I add) Nice environment but horrible workers. read more

This place is immaculately clean and was able to take me as walk-in for pedicure. They have a menu of mani, pedi, and waxing choices. I chose the $40, 40 minute pedi with callus removal, 15 minute massage, and hot stones. They gave a choice of scents and I chose lavender. The water was the right temperature, relaxing music, the chairs looked brand new with USB ports as well as massage, the technician was polite and did a great job. I have never been here and I found this place on yelp. I came on a Saturday night and I got right in. I got the lavender spa pedicure and I have never been more relaxed while getting a pedicure. Henry was very gentle and gave an awesome foot massage. He was also very neat and precise when it came to polishing my toe nails. I will most definitely come again! Amazing service ! read more

This nail shop is just a few seconds away and I keep trying to give it a chance. I heard there was new management so I gave it a shot for the final time. I came in with 3 broken nails. My nails were pretty long. Lisa, was going to literally leave my nails short and not put new nails on the three broken nails. I asked her what about those? She said don't worry. So, I'm waiting ... I see that she isn't going to do it after I see her putting acrylic on the nails that didn't have tips?!? So she was going to leave 3 nails without tips and leave the rest long? I had to communicate with "Mia" who then explained to Lisa what I wanted. I said just make them all short. Then came the polish... she was not painting the sides of my nails. Was getting angry when I pointed it out. She didn't let me wash my hands?!? Long story short, I left with poor quality short nails. I will never go there again and it's a shame. I looooooove this place. I was a Syracuse university student and its so convenient how close it is to campus. First, they are never super busy and always take you immediately. Second, they have FREE snacks and drinks. Third, you have your own tools customized to you, meaning you don't have to worry about dirty tools. I have always gone to Mia. She is amazing. She always does my nails exactly how I want them and takes direction or fixes things exactly how you want. I always go in for an acrylic fill in with gel polish and pay $26 (however that might be the student price, but they don't ask for student ID, they just ask if you are a student). The selection is large and they save your preferences and the dates that you come in, in case you want to do the same thing again. Everything is so personalized and I love it. I'm so sad that I graduated and wont be able to go to Mia on a regular basis. I have yet to find a place so amazing, by far the BEST nail salon I've ever been to with the best prices. read more

I got a set of acrylic nails and I have gone back for a few fills since then. I love their work and they are always polite and give you a massage while your nails dry! I went today to treat my Mother and myself to a Gel mani. (We had appointments) I normally paint my own gel nails with my lamp at home but am long over due for a good mani with cuticle work. Upon sitting down I told the man that my cuticles were really bad. He filed my nails and did my gel mani. When he opened the sterile pack of instruments I assumed he was going to push back and trim my cuticles. The whole mani lasted about 15 mins. At one point I asked cuticles? He ignored me. I could have done this at home like usual and saved $25 hands don't feel pampered and my cuticles are still horrendous. Only good thing is my Mom's mani was about 10 mins longer(I walked around Kinney next door while she finished up) and she said her girl spent a lot of time on her cuticles. I was thinking of trying out their pedis (overpriced) but I'm sure they skimp there too. I definitely won't be back. Disappointed and a waste of money read more

I came here to get a pedicure and would prefer my money back. The manicurist got extremely angry when I could not understand the question she was asking me and proceeded to complain to the woman working next to her, repeating the question I could not understand over and over to her. She then began to angrily rush through my entire pedicure, tightly and aggressively wrapping the paper around my toes and rushing through each polish coat. After she was done I looked at my toes to see nail polish all on the skin bordering my nails and uneven coats of polish. I had to politely ask her to remove the nail polish from my skin, which barely improved the messy application. Not only does the pedicure look horrible, but the employee's inappropriate behavior should not have been tolerated by the salon. I should not have been charged for this pedicure and am extremely irritated. I will not be returning here. read more

I have had acrylic nails for about a month and half and have been getting fills done where I normally go to school out in Cazenovia. I am home for a small break and I needed to get my nails re-done I went to Holly nails after looking at prices and thought they were good so I gave them a try and got a color change and a fill. I got the color change and fill and went on my way within an hour and the next day my nails were peeling off... literally the color was just coming off If i open a book. So I went back I got a color change to a different brand hoping it was just that color then I went on my way after and my nails did the same thing again and I am still upset. I went back today and got them changed and now I'm looking at them they weren't painted fully and when he took the color off he didn't fully take it off. I have gone in now 3 times in the past week and I will not be returning and will now have to go spend more money to get my nails fixed. Please do better if you are going to advertise for such a good price because the quality isn't good and was very much rushed. The managers have spoke to me multiple times and even looked at my nails today and said sorry but things happen and they will continue to fix it. I appreciate them helping me and fixing it but gel nails shouldn't do this that quick. read more

I used to go here and get SNS manicure with Coco which was beyond lovely! They always accepted walk-ins and were super flexible. I used to have a man do my nails, I forgot his name but he was so harsh but they looked so nice so I thought it was normal, but after Coco did them once and they looked even better, I started going to her strictly. I started switching to getting UV nail manicures and only a few people had the skills to do that I suppose. I brought my friends to an appointment who happened to speak Chinese and they told me that the nail technicians were being extremely mean and rude to me and about my nails. To speak in a different language in front of people who do not speak the language is rude itself but to talk about people using that language is unacceptable especially when I'm paying for them to do their service! Also, I had an older woman do my nails once and she completely messed up the acrylic nails and it was uneven. These people are a MESS and it shows even in their name! They've had three different names in the last year alone because of their poor management! Do NOT go here at all costs! Syracuse isn't exactly a beauty center, but there are other places that are drastically better than this place. read more
