This would definitely be my weekend 'go to ' if I lived in the area!! Pros: Steps from the beach! Super friendly and efficient staff Amazingly good food Kick back atmosphere Spotless restroom Extensive menu to choose from Cons: a little pricey I asked the server if I could taste the homemade chicken salad. She quickly brought me out a scoop and it was excellent. We ordered the Chinese Chicken Salad and while it was a very good size portion it was soooo delicious I ate every last drop! My boyfriend got the salmon burger... actually a large grilled piece of salmon (not some faux ground mix) and he said it was delicious. We tried this place for breakfast after debating where to go while visiting, and we were very happy we chose to go here. Excellent service and food. I had the Smoked Salmon Benedict and it was delicious. The hash browns were great as well. Clean and great beach vibe, including a patio. read more

Hollywood Beach Cafe is located at the former Mrs. Olson's location. They have been there for a few years now and I just went to this restaurant for the first time last year. Now that I have been here a few times, I feel I can give a fair and accurate review. I was really hoping that it would be at least as good as Mrs. Olson's and it is and isn't at the same time. Their breakfast is pretty standard. I haven't had anything that wowed me. My husband liked their chicken and waffles. The chicken was a good size, the seasoning was great, but he said they are totally different from the chicken and waffles he has had in the past. Their chicken was more of a boneless chicken breast or chicken tender and the waffle was thicker, not quite Belgian style, but definitely not a thin wider waffle. He said no one should come here and expect to have the same kind of chicken and waffles as Roscoe's... IT JUST ISN'T THE SAME, but still very delicious. The dishes I have ordered were breakfast dishes, eggs/omelette, fruit, toast and potatoes. Potatoes are something I LOVE having for breakfast and theirs were disappointing. They were cooked as if they were rushed. They need more time for cooking as some of their potatoes weren't even soft enough to consume and lacked a bit of seasoning. Maybe I have just had some outstanding potatoes in the past that knocked my socks off, but these just didn't compare. Potatoes are not hard to cook or make really great. They just need a little more time and attention and they can really elevate their breakfast dishes by just doing that one thing, seriously. Please cook the potatoes longer and crisp them up a bit more! The space inside is small. I don't know how Mrs. Olson's churned it out so quickly and efficiently in that space, but they squeezed so much out of there. I don't think Hollywood Beach Cafe does the same. I hate to compare, but it's hard not to when the food and service is what made this location so famous. When I have come in, the waitress and staff were friendly enough, but there was a couple times when the staff was overwhelmed and they were understaffed due to fires, which were not in their control. Their credit card machines were down, so they had to take cash-only customers. It was very apparent that they were having a hard time, so I can't fault them for that. Overall, they are pretty average in the breakfast scene. There are several breakfast spots in the area that I would most likely choose to go before coming here. They also wouldn't be on my list of top places to eat that I would suggest to anyone. I don't mean to sound critical, I just think with some minor tweaks and adjustments, they could really be great. The vibe here is very chill and beachy. I think they could do more to add value to their space, but I can't quite put my finger on it. The space may be small, but it has always been clean & tables gets wiped down frequently & quickly after customers leave. It's pretty standard in terms of diners, except that it's located in a beautiful beach area. Give it a shot & see what you think. read more

Another pleasant surprise find in the Oxnard area thanks to other Yelpers! During a recent trip to CA, my sister, mom and I stopped here for breakfast twice. Both times we had a lovely experience - tasty food, easy parking, friendly and attentive staff, and proximity to the local beach (where we walked after our breakfast) - all great. Our breakfasts were exactly as we ordered them, delicious, seasoned well, fresh and large portions. Plus bottomless cups of coffee. And our servers were friendly, smiley and really took care of us. Both times we lingered longer than we should have considering they were so busy, but it was so nice and comfy on the back 'deck' under the shade canopy with the breeze....I would go back again in a second and just chill in that back area while I enjoyed more from their extensive menu! Only one down side: there is only one bathroom and it is right near the station where the servers fill up water and grab supplies. So, if you were standing there waiting it was a little hectic to be shuttled around to make room for the servers passing back and forth. But this was very minor! And we weren't in a rush. I definitely recommend this place and I would love to go again just to sample more of the menu. The folks who live in the Hollywood Beach area are lucky to have this gem in walking distance!! read more

So after countless recommendations, it was time to see what the hype was about. When choosing where to go for Sunday brunch, I choose diligently. However despite the countless reviews and recommendations, I felt like this establishment was missing the flavors of breakfast. The chicken with my husband's Chicken and Waffles tasted more of an Herby dinner, not that it was bad- just didn't pair well with the sweetness of the waffle. As for my breakfast sausage, I was very happy with the prices, however to my dismay I was not greeted with a hickory/maple taste. I felt as if I should have put my sausage link in a hot dog bun and had it for lunch. Maybe next time I'll give the breakfast tacos a chance, I won't count this off as a place to give another shot. read more

We sat on back patio with heaters but could have chosen the tent n front but a little windy. Masks, hand sanitizer all in abundance. We're staying right up the road in Oxnard for our anniversary and decided to try the Hollywood Beach Cafe for breakfast instead of the super packed complimentary hotel breakfast. We were not disappointed! The portion sizes were huge and the food delicious. There was a short wait to be seated but you're literally on the beach so it's not a bad place to hang out. Fast, friendly service! Was seated quickly and Seated outside when asked. Ordered the tri tip and eggs and man it was DELICIOUS! What astounded me most was the grilled tomato.
