We have only come here 3 times in the last few years but it's actually a very worthy restaurant for breakfast, brunch or lunch. I don't think there's a bad seat in the house, but we always love to sit outside so that we have a really good view of the aircraft coming and going. I tried the BLT and, oh my!!! One of the best I've had, with lots of thick cut bacon, very crisp, lots of lettuce, tomato and mayo (I ordered it as-is). Half was the size of a regular sandwich so the other half went home with me! Dear Hubby and I have been to Waypoint Cafe a few times over the years. Because of how popular they are, it's not somewhere we try to go to on a weekend. Today we had to be out of the house due to Edison maintenance in your neighborhood. We were originally headed for Ojai, but we were hungry and didn't want to wait that long to get food. I suggested Waypoint since it was a weekday and hopefully wouldn't be that crowded. We hit them just before a lunch rush came along about 30 minutes later. it's probably been a while, but their ordering procedure has changed since the last time we were there. Now you enter, go to the host stand, and order and pay there. Then they give you a number for your order and a host takes you out to a table. It's a variation on fast casual. The idea is that they will start cooking your food as soon as you pay, and the process will flow smoothly from there. They have a lot of runners bringing out the food, and offering additional condiments or other things you might need, like more water or napkins. There are several reasons that I'm downgrading the rating from a previous visit. $18 for a plain Belgian waffle? No fruit, garnish, whipped cream, just melted butter and a very small amount of syrup. It looked more substantial because we added eggs and bacon for $3 more. The latter seems like a good deal, because the eggs were well prepared. Only two slices of bacon, though. DH and I split the plate. $21 for a plain waffle, scrambled eggs, and two pieces of bacon does seem excessive. We added a side of hash browns, which were plentiful, but were also oily. I don't remember having hash browns in another restaurant which were that greasy, so that was a fail. $9 for two cups of decaf coffee? That also seemed on the high side, especially when a tiny (and I do mean tiny!) addition of oat milk for creamer was $1.50. Really? And yet, they offered mini portions of hazelnut or French vanilla creamer for free. But we didn't know that ahead of time. A large glass of lukewarm pineapple juice was $6. I had to ask for a glass of ice cubes to be able to chill the juice down to where it tasted good. By the way, the waffle was slightly overcooked for my preference, making it more crunchy than I enjoy. Overall, it was $50 for a breakfast that DH and I split, just adding the hash browns and juice to stretch the meal. Service was good. It was the kitchen that let down the team. Also, ambiance-wise, the airport has added a large row of hangars to the northwest of the restaurant, which dramatically cuts down the view of the planes taking off and landing. That's actually another fail for the appeal of dining here. It's likely going to be a while before we return. Sad to report today's experience, but that's what it turned out to be - not the lovely little secret getaway of the past. read more

The area was close to where people had parked their private planes and it was cool seeing the cool seeing the different aircrafts come in and out from the airport as we entertained by friend's daughter. We went back to the guys once we realized that we couldn't see the guys anymore and since our other friend would be arriving soon to join us. The wait wasn't bad since we had good conversations and catching up to do as we got to the front. They had given water to people in line and menus to look at. Once we got inside, we placed our orders and were seated outside. No joke we had three flies or so to fend off as our meals came, but other than that the food was pretty good. I opted for a salad and took a few sips of my husband's milkshake. The milkshake wasn't too strong in flavor, but there was enough in the leftover cup to let some of my friends try for themselves. My salad was so pretty and it was flavorful with the two dressings that came with it. I definitely should've asked to hold the tomatoes, but just scooted them to the corner of my plate. My friend let me try his Garlic Parmesan fries and they were pretty good. We could see the aircrafts coming and going at our table as we conversed with each other. There was most likely a hiccup near the end of the meal, where the servers kept coming to us to provide the drinks and foods that belonged to the table next to us, which we redirected to after two or three servers came by. I went here on a Friday and there was a line outside. It was not that long because it was based on who orders faster. It gives you time to figure out what to order because you need to order up front. The service was nice and our waiter was friendly. It seems like they increased the price of the milkshake once again, but it was still the same size and really good. Last time, I ordered their burger and it was really small. So this time I ordered a sandwich and I was not disappointed as this one was a decent size. It was really tasty, but I wish they also added a pickle on the side of the sandwiches too. Their salads are also really good along with the bread that comes with it. A family affair To sum up the weekend, we gathered here. At the private hangar entrance for the Camarillo airport with an active runway 20 embarked on the breakfast experience. We left happy. A line, a short wait and get it in. Marcello managed drums ie coffee, mimosa's, apple juice and espresso and latte's. The fun began in the waiting. I had the chicken and waffles here. It was absolutely the best batch of chicken and waffles I have ever had. So crispy and the extra butter merged well with the chicken which made it very juicy. I highly recommend this order for when you go. In addition the service was efficient and easy. Ordering at the entrance and getting your seat after makes things operate smoothly. This is a hidden gem! I have been coming here for years. Plethora of breakfast choices. Just let your server know how you want and they will happily accommodate you. Wednesday and Saturday are for Trip-tip that cooked outside. Mouthwatering smokiness that I can't resist on my salad with a side of Santa Maria dressing. Had some folks visiting from out-of-town, went to Waypoint for breakfast. It was great sitting outside watching planes go by. Our food came very quickly as the service was exceptional. Almost everyone (seven in the group) ordered something different, omelets, burritos, breakfast tacos, pancakes, and on and on...all great tasting and very memorable. This is my second time at this place for breakfast and remembered even the coffee was good. So many times restaurants have somewhat weak, watery coffee. The coffee served at the Waypoint is very good and tasty. I say again, if you love breakfast, want a great breakfast, Waypoint Cafe is the place to go. She had us sit in a comfortable patio outside , with coffee and water. The attraction of this cafe' is it's on the Camarillo Airport landing zone. Waypoint has become our annual tradition for Thanksgiving break week. Since my son is old enough now to also enjoy the planes viewing area, we knew we'd have a great breakfast experience. We got there right before a major rush so we got seated right away and had the choice to pick from inside and outside. I was in Camarillo for the weekend visiting some relatives. My aunt was keen on taking us to Waypoint Cafe for breakfast! We showed up early and waited in line for a few minutes before opening time. After sitting, it was only a few short minutes before all of the food was brought out. The mimosa was a generous portion and very delicious. I thought it had a good ratio of juice to champagne. The French toast was very good! It was sweet and rich but not too much. My family and I didn't speak much since we were very much enjoying our food. I LOVE Waypoint cafe! I've taken many friends and family members to this place over the years and it never disappoints! The Sunday rush can be kind of crazy so get there early to beat the lines. When we got there, we waited in line less than 10 minutes before our orders were taken at the front desk before being taken to our table. We got a nice table outside with a great view of the runway. I love how the restaurant is decorated and how there's even a miniature runway in the back for the kids to play in. We are so impressed by the service too! My favorite dish is definitely the lemon ricotta pancakes. I told my friends that they're light and fluffy and perfect. Although they were put off by the idea of cheese in pancakes, they both agreed they were the perfect balance. Also, the pancakes are HUGE and you get three! It's definitely worth it. My friend ordered the banana nut waffles and they were delicious too! I liked how crispy and crunchy the outside was while still being tender and soft inside. Overall, we will definitely be back! My family has been coming to Waypoint for years and we've loved all their phases! Food is always what you expect, huge portions, fast services and obviously the Cam Airport view you can't beat! Do I love the switch from getting full service to now ordering at the host stand and then as you sit down your food is already at the table? Not necessarily....I'm someone that who likes to have a couple sips of my coffee and chat for a minute before I dig in BUT I will say it's ideal for people with toddlers who need their food asap! The new outdoor patio and upgraded bar cart is outstanding, the Pineapple mimosas are my favorite and the staff is still awesome. We'll keep coming back for years to come! read more

First off I guess I should've read more about this restaurant. It was near an airport kind of out-of-the-way. I had a Carnitas omelette with fruit and wheat toast. The omelette was pretty good, the fruit I would've liked some blueberries or something else. It had a lot of pineapple. Love the wheat toast. My husband had ham and eggs with hashbrowns. Hashbrowns were your typical he said the ham steak wasn't as good as some other places. They did come around and made sure we had coffee and water. I came here for breakfast with a friend. There was a line to enter that was about a 20 minute wait. Once we made it to the door, one of the staff members sat us and then called a waitress over to take our order and we paid upfront. I asked the waitress if we could be on separate checks. She said yes and then left for a moment and came back. She had just split the check 50/50 which wasn't exactly right considering I had ordered a bowl of oatmeal that was $12 and my friend ordered a full breakfast plate that was $21.50. So I am subtracting a star for that. The service was quick and we had received our food within 8-10 minutes of ordering. I had ordered one of the most impressive bowls of oatmeal i have ever had at a restaurant. And actually it is probably the first bowl I have ever ordered at a restaurant. It was steel cut oats with craisins, nuts, cinnamon and banana. They also served a tiny amount of milk, brown sugar and raisins with it. I really enjoyed it. We did have the wait staff check-in with us a few times and they refilled our waters. Picked a Thursday morning to try this place out since I've been told the weekend wait can take up to 1.5 hrs. We waited about 5 mins for a party of 2, you order as soon as you walk in at the register then you take a number and pick a seat. Your food is takes to your table and the waiters to come and check on you for refills and anything else you might need. The food was delicious and had good options for coffee which we love! The chicken fried steak was good I wouldn't say the best I ever had but delicious nevertheless. The view is amazing and the atmosphere was quiet even with being outside by the airport, it did get loud for about 5-10 minutes when a plane was taking off but that is to be expected you are at an airport after all. Enjoy a mimosa or milkshake while watching planes and helicopters traveling down the runway. There's a kiddie runway with tower for the kids in all of us on the patio as well as a beautiful fountain. Now for the adults, you'll enjoy a full menu including breakfast served all day, burgers, tri-tip sandwiches, salads and desserts. The food is consistently good and the kitchen takes pride in everything that's brought to your table. Our favorites are the cinnamon roll, omelettes, biscuits and gravy, ricotta pancakes, sandwiches and my go to is the Ortega chicken sandwich. Waypoint Cafe provides such a unique dining experience that I've never had anywhere else. Situated in the Camarillo Airport, the restaurant provides close up views of the planes taking off and landing on the runway. There are two outdoor seating areas, one of which is a lot closer to the planes than the other section which is connected to the restaurant and has patio shade. The area closer to the planes is occasionally loud when the planes come by to park but it's not common. The runway is quite a bit away from the seating area. The food is alright. Good but nothing too special. We got the Pastrami sandwich, Chicken and biscuits, and Alma milkshake. Milkshake was top notch!! Loved that it came with the classic metal refill container too with some extras :) Pastrami sandwich was solid. We got it on sourdough instead or rye and that was a huge plus. Only mistake was that we asked for fries for our side and it came with potato salad instead; this problem was quickly fixed by the very attentive servers. Also we asked for mustard on the side instead of in the sandwich; I think they missed this note as well but I didn't wanna complain about something so minor. The chicken and biscuits was alright for us. The biscuit was fluffy, but we thought it was too dry with honestly not enough gravy. The chicken was very yummy though. We ended up not finishing the biscuit. Large portions though!! Overall, despite the food, I still had such a great time here, being able to sit outside and watch the plans fly out. You line up in the front to get seated the longest i've waited is about an hour and a half. You then place your order when you get to the front of the line so make sure your meal picked out.
