We always love to take out of town guests here because of the beautiful view of the Oxnard Harbor. There are a lot of tables outside in the back. There staff seats us quickly and do their best to get our order in and delivered. The menu is extensive. My favorite is the breakfast sandwich. My husband loves the banana bread. read more

I've been eating at this restaurant two or three times a week for years. The last few times my breakfast orders have been wrong or not totally cooked, so I stopped coming here about three months ago. I finally decided to give them a second chance since I was close by. I went in and ordered a breakfast burrito with bacon. The first burrito they sent out was incorrect. The second burrito came out, and I took a few bites and realized there was no bacon in there. I've got fed up, so I told the waitress there's no bacon and the owner came out started digging through my the burrito to find a couple of skimpy little pieces of bacon that were in there and started calling me a liar and the wife gave me the check and I said you're gonna charge me? The wife ring up the order and handed me a bill. I paid the bill and left and will never go back there again. Horrible customer service for somebody that ate there three times a week for the last 10 years. read more

SERVICE: The service was good for us. Parking was not an issue. our server was sweet and helpful. Note, the view was peaceful looking out at the water if sitting in the back. FOOD: Honestly, I knew the food was going to be just ok and it was. Nothing to scream about. It's not nasty but it's not amazing, just ok. If you need something to do in terms of grabbing a bite and looking out towards the water and boats, then sure, it's a great place. If we're going off food alone, it's not important to try out. No flavor, life. We ordered the Denver omelette which was fine. Fresh fruit was fine. The biscuit and gravy was absolutely horrible. I DON'T recommend it. The food was excellent - the best over medium eggs I've had - and they were served with perfect bacon and crispy, homemade hash browns. Everything from the hotcakes to the flapjacks to the griddlecakes was delicious and homemade. Although the outside was a little cold, the view of the dock at the marina was beautiful. The restaurant has a great location and an excellent atmosphere. The service was fantastic, with the owners coming out to say hello. We used to like this place for the food value and servings and today we placed a takeout order which was ridiculously bad, kids meal portions, and not restaurant quality. We would always order here or go to eat but post pandemic it has gone bad. We ordered the green chiquiles and it was bad. See pictures. There was like 5-6 tortilla chips and more egg yolk from my over easy egg than green salsa. No onions, no cilantro, no cheese, no sour cream, nada. Potatoes we mostly brown peels and no salt. We were in Oxnard for a few days and ate at the Golden Egg Cafe both mornings. They have a lovely patio outside on the marina, which is dog friendly and has a vacation vibe. We love Golden Egg. We go here all the time!!! My favorite thing to get is the Denver omelette, and substitute ham for bacon. Incredible. The prices are really good for how much food you get and the service is so good nearly every time! This is a home-y breakfast place if that is what you are looking for. This is our #1 breakfast place in Ventura/oxnard, and the Oxnard location is amazing. There almost is never a wait time, and truly the food is so good. My 2 notes would be: 1. It's so busy here; this is my third attempt to visit. You may want to consider coming during off hours to be able to get a table on the weekend. The servers seem frazzled, unhappy, and overworked. That means, the tables aren't clean, the food is served cold, and the service is less joyful. The food itself is a hit and miss - most of it is tasty but some wasn't, like the biscuit and gravy - the biscuit tasted like Elmer's glue. Or the ice tea, which was so gross, we could only take one sip. (Paid full price for it though). Pros: Free parking in the massive parking lot. Spacious outdoor seating. High-quality, heavy tables A variety of menu options for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is served all day. What a disappointment. My husband suggested this place on Sunday for brunch, but I wanted Cafe Nouveau in Ventura. But he wanted some place close to home. I ordered the Chilequiles half beans & potatoes on the side, over easy eggs. I was shocked how little food I had on my plate & to top it off it was completely flavorless. I started wondering if I had Covid. I added salted & hot sauce, mind you this had salsa verde. Still very little flavor. I ate everything on my plate only because I was hungry. What a waste of $15! I would have had a much better breakfast anywhere else for $15. I would have been fuller from a bagel & cream cheese. Chilequiles from Cafe Amri we're less & double the food & it includes avocado without charging extra like this place. Each proceeding visit here has gotten worse. I will not return. The only reason I'm giving them 2 stars is because the people working there were nice, but terrible food. read more

Visited on 4/19/25 and not very happy with ordering chilaquiles at $15.95 and got the bill for $17.15. Assuming that its because of the "egg" crisis or tarrifs.....but no signage about any increase and menu not reflecting the price of $17.15. Last month i ordered 3egg breakfast and plate came with 2 eggs. I asked the waitress and she said it was due to egg prices. So , i am fed up with this location not being transparent with the prices. Food portions are to small; I order two chilaquiles meals for my wife and myself. It contained chilaquiles, egg , beans and home potatoes as an extra. The total was $32+tip. The food portions was small. A small spoonful of beans ,potatoes, small egg, and a small hand full of tortilla chips. I felt like I was eating a kids meal. I understand the cost of food has gone up, but beans, potato and tortillas chip does not equal $32 for two. At the most it should be between $6.00-$8.00 meal per person. I was still hungry after my meal and I made my self something to eat after. I would have had a better experience eating breakfast at McDonald's. This was my last time eating there.
