We were visiting Oxnard for a few days and decided we wanted to try local restaurants outside of our hotel, not being familiar with the area we depended on yelp reviews. We had tried a couple of different restaurants for lunch and dinner and sadly we were disappointed. What a pleasant surprise to find Best Breakfast cafe! Starting from driving into the freshly paved and striped parking lot, which luckily bring a Tuesday morning was not packed- I can only imagine what it must be like on weekends, to the service by the wait staff, To the food choices, quality and quantity, we were more than pleasantly pleased and surprised by this place. If we lived nearby this would be a regular place for us to patronize. Very mediocre. Skip this, go somewhere else. The food is not worth it. Nothing was great. I've ate here in the past, and couldn't remember if it was good or not. I should have made the review before, to remind me that it's not worth it. The service was ok. Our waitress tried her best. She might be better off writing down what people ordered instead of trying to remember things, she missed three things with our party. First, my niece asked, before ordering a pancake combo, if she could get one pancake made with just blueberries and one with just chocolate. Waitress came back and said yes, but that's all she told us.. Second, my wife ordered her corn beef hash with home style potatoes. Instead, the order came to the table with hash browns. I tried her corn beef hash, it was one of the worse ever. Definitely canned stuff, and not made right. It's like someone thought they could make it, so they must went ahead and did it. Third, I ordered a standard burger with onion rings, it came out with fries. For my order, I told the waitress and she got this corrected right away. The burger was just ok. The bun was nice and buttered, brioche. The meat was juicy and cooked medium as requested. It was under-seasoned, but was okay for me as I usually try to get low sodium, but this makes it taste incomplete. Let's talk about my niece's pancakes though, they came out mixed, both blueberries and chocolate in both pancakes instead of two separate pancakes. And when the bill came, I was charged extra charge for each thing. $3 for the chocolate. $3 for the blueberries. Plate came out over $22, that's crazy. Inside is decently clean and large. Lots of space, although maybe it was because we came in a weekday early at 8:45. Anyway, skip it, not worth it. I prefer the local IHOP. read more

This place can get busy in the mornings but they have many tables here and usually isn't too long of a wait if you do end up waiting. This place is a traditional American cafe where the staff are super kind and very helpful. Menu here is extensive and offers a great variety of items. Prices here are very decent too. Was passing through the area on my way back home to West LA and had heard amazing things about this little diner so tried it for my first time this past weekend and can say I was honestly really impressed. Service was fantastic, our server was extremely polite and everything that we ordered came out very fast and for a very fair price. I loved how fresh all the ingredients were and the produce was especially delicious. I would call this a local country diner that was absolutely packed when we visited on Saturday morning. They don't have outdoor seating but plenty of indoor options. There's also a large free parking lot attached so finding a space was really easy. They have a very large menu filled with all sorts of classic American and Mexican breakfast options. For this visit, I chose the Chilaquiles Verdes and thought it was really good. I added some of their homemade salsa with it, which was a great combo and I would highly recommend this dish. I also got a biscuit on the side, which was very fluffy and really hit the spot. Come here for a solid, hearty breakfast/brunch. You won't be disappointed! We ordered a large variety of foods all with large portions. Highly recommend the menudo and the Cinnamon Roll French Toast. It's super unique and literally tastes like both a cinnamon roll and a french toast. All the food we ordered was solid. Its good but I wouldn't say it's mind blowing. It's what I needed and met my expectations. I saw some of the tables nearby me order lunch foods including a quesadilla and a huuuuge burger and I really wanna give that a try next time. Good spot and closer than we realized! We were at my son's football game craving breakfast burritos and found this place on Yelp. Ordered three to go -- the staff was super friendly, burritos were huge and very good, and the salsa was great too. A bit pricey compared to other breakfast burritos in area but to be honest, you got a bang for your buck bc they were huge ! My fiance and I decided to stop and have breakfast here while on our way to Big Sur and I was so glad we did! We came on a Tuesday morning and it was busy which was already a good sign. We ordered the green huevos rancheros and the ranchero steak omelette and both were delicious! The sauce on the huevos rancheros was spicy and very tasty and the omelette had very well seasoned steak chunks and all around was great. To top it all off the coffee was really good too ! Chilaquiles for hubby, Chili Verde and Eggs for me, Breakfast burrito for sis 1, French Toast platter for sis 2. Hubby eyeballs chilaquiles every time. Here was his take: DELICIOUS, crispy, flavorful. He's full and satisfied. The Bloody Mary helped everything go down smoothly!! Sis 1: she ate the whole dang thing, except for last three bites given to sis 2 when they swapped plates for cross tasting. Two "good" comments on the burrito. Thanks for also providing Cholula. Sis 2: sausage link was nice and plump. Solid French toast plate. Now for Mama.... The Chili Verde was magical, everything I dreamed it would be, and I would order again! Very casual, Family Friendly & Diner Feels... The parking lot can get full, but there's also street parking available. Plenty of options for Breakfast & Lunch. I'm usually here for Breakfast, but the Lunch menu is pretty inviting. I need to try Lunch sometime. Huge portions, which is what we like. The Mister's 1st time here & he devoured his Pancake Combo... I always crave Chilaquiles, but I felt like being somewhat healthy today. So I ordered a Veggie Omelette, lol. Had a generous amount of veggies inside w/ carrots, zucchini, broccoli & cheese. With Omelettes, you get a side choice of potatoes or fruit & toast or a biscuit. The potatoes are good, they were yummy! Of course I ordered an extra side of fruit too. I was happy with my meal & had leftovers :) Overall, It was Good! We were in the area on 10/7 and looking for a breakfast/brunch restaurant. With its fabulous reviews, Yelp brought us here. Restaurant itself is kind of off the beaten path, but there is no reason not to try this place. There was plenty of parking, and the restaurant itself was clean. We were greeted by their friendly staff and taken care of by a very kind young lady(I totally forgot her name)! Here is what we ordered: 5/5- chicken fried steak as phenomenal. Crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Husband had it with eggs and breakfast potatoes. He also had a side of biscuits and gravy, which was good too. 5/5- chile verde breakfast. This was one of the recommendations made by our server. It's a generous portion of tender pork in green chile with just enough heat to make it delicious and not deadly hot. I had this with eggs over medium and hashbrowns, which were cooked perfectly. It's definitely a must order! Finally- I can't end this review without commenting on their coffee. It was so good! First time trying this cafe and they live up to the name. I had an amazing breakfast. I was recommended to try the Chili Verde and Eggs. It comes with tortillas of your choice. It was very tasty and had the perfect amount of spice, but the portions of the meat were pretty skimpy. Overall I had a great experience and the service provided was excellent. Honestly this is a great place to have breakfast they are super attentive and nice always ready to help and as I was sitting here I over heard several people talking to the waitress by first name basis so it seems like a tight community which is lovely. it was a medium ambiance not too loud but not too quiet. Stopped by here for the first time for brunch. Looked up breakfast places on Yelp and this one had great reviews. Great job Yelp! All of our food was delicious and they have big portions. I ordered the Cancun Omelette which had bacon, green chile, cheese and sour cream inside. It was really good and filling. I asked for hashbrowns and sourdough toast and ordered a full stack of their buttermilk pancakes. Loved all of it! My husband ordered the California Scrambled. I tried a bite and loved it as well. There were so many mushrooms in each bite, so good. There is a parking lot, we both found spots right away. The restuarant was busy when we walked in but we were able to get seated at the counter right away. The vibe is a classic busy diner with the staff looking so happy and all of the customers enjoying their food and chatting. You pay up at the front. I am really glad we tried this place.
