Smoked salmon Benedict was a disappointment to say the least. Salmon was old with a strong smell and the English muffin was soaked in butter. All I could taste was old fish and butter. I asked if they had fresh squeezed orange juice, waiter said yes, I ordered it, orange juice was NOT fresh squeezed but from concentrate. Why lie? Patio seating comes with a fresh smell of garbage and flies. Hostess and waitress were friendly. Overall I don't recommend this place. read more

Have been going here for several years and always has been a favorite breakfast place over anywhere in Channel Islands. Service is always great but food has been substandard lately . Small little restaurant located off the beaten path one street off of the beach in Oxnard. In my one dining experience at this restaurant I ordered eggs, bacon and homestyle potatoes with sourdough toast. The eggs were pretty much nondescript and typical of what you would find in other restaurants. The bacon was tasty but a bit on the thin side for my taste. The homestyle potatoes were clearly the highlight of the meal where they were made with a fresh pepper medley and were bursting with flavor. Lastly, the coffee was quite good, hot and fresh'. Relative to facilities, the restaurant had a beachy feel to it befitting its location where the wait staff was very friendly with great service and a quick top off of your coffee which is always key for any restaurant. I would say overall I was was quite satisfied with the quality of the food but felt the price was a bit high for what you were getting especially for breakfast ($15 for my breakfast). Cost aside, the quality of the food and great service make this a restaurant worth considering if you are in the area. Four stars. read more

There was a good size wait because everyone wanted to get inside and enjoy the food. Fortunately, they made it happen in the height of weekend lunch rush hour and everyone seemed to get seated fairly fast. It's where Mrs. Olson's resided for decades and then moved. Time to welcome in the HBC. It's steps to the beach too with limited parking. I had a veggie burger with fries and it was delicious. My kids had a burger and kids chicken strips. They were happy. They had a large screen TV playing U.S. swimming trials on NBC and we enjoyed watching while our food was being made. Daughter wanted a chocolate shake so we ordered that to the detriment of my diet. It was large and delicious -- we got it to go and only drank half. The atmosphere is small town beach community. Servers are super friendly and hard working, delivering the food quickly with a smile. They have a good size menu so you can get whatever you want -- burgers or more healthy food. I'd like to go back for breakfast some day because the other restaurant in this space was good for that. It's a long way from the other Hollywood where dreams are born and die every day. But it's so comfortable and delicious that it was hard to say goodbye to this Hollywood when your meal is done. read more
