I can't complain. Not THAT bad. My friend dragged me here because there was a great deal online for colonics. Honestly, the second I walked in I was scared SHITless (pun intended). It was dingy, and frankly looked pretty scary. Everything at the clinic probably hasn't been updated since the 60's, and it shows. The furniture is old, everything is falling apart, and the walls are cracked and crumbling. A basic remodel of the waiting room would do JUSTICE for this place. Hell, I would even offer to fix the place up for free, anything would be better than that waiting room. The chiropractor who runs the practice is nice, but definitely a little awkward. Once you get used to the vibe, most fear subsides. I had my friend go first, she had her colonic done with the Angel of Water machine, which is an open system. He was going to put me in a room that had the "closed system", but after he saw the look on my face, he asked if I wanted to wait and use the same machine as my friend. The procedure it's pretty simple, but requires a lot of work. He puts a little tube up your butt, and you count until ten until the machine fills your colon with water. After the ten seconds you RELEASE! And your caca comes out of the hole and down this pipe for you to see. (there is a mirror pointed at the tube so you can see all the excrement, it's pretty cool!) If you go with a friend, it's an interesting experience. I do a lot of enemas and drink laxative teas so I don't have much sewage, but my friend had a really pleasurable experience and had felt loads lighter! PROS: 1) The practitioner was polite and exhibited good bedside manners. 2) The facility is rather old and shabby. Now, you may wonder why I'd list this as a positive. Well, I don't mind that as long as the money NOT spent on renovation or high rent is passed down as savings to the customer. CONS: 1) As I mentioned, the place is old (again, fine by me), but the equipment isn't exactly cutting edge either. 2) My deal breaking complaint, however, is that the gentleman was quite careless and heavy-handed with the tube. Upon the insertion, I complained of strong pain, to which he basically replied "Duh. You've got something up your rectum. What did you expect?" (As if I didn't know mere discomfort from genuine severe pain). Sure enough, when I went to the bathroom to relieve myself after the procedure, the substantial bleeding confirmed that there was in fact an injury caused by the careless insertion of the tube. The wound will take at least a week to heal. This issue is what primarily accounts for the 3 star rating. read more

So I'm gonna preface by saying DON'T GO TO ROBERT! He is the absolute worst. It was my first time and he did nothing to help through process. Upon entering, all he told me was to take off my clothes. Once he yelled from his office two rooms away he came back to give me the tube. I was given no instruction as to what to do with it or what would happen. When he noticed me being clueless he asked me if it was my first time. When I revealed it was he softly chuckled and told me what to do with the tube. After turning the machine on, he vanished. I had to yell for him to come back due to discomfort and he told me to "push" every 20 seconds or so. Then vanished again. When the discomfort continued i had to call him back in the room just for him to yell me I can turn the flow off whenever i feel like it. The next sentence afterwards he told me to not leave if off for too long. I have not reference of what's "too long" with something I've never done before. I was confused, embarrassed and upset all at the same time.. He obviously wanted nothing to do with the process. I imagine the others thay work there are pleasant enough. Robert absolutely wanted nothing to do with me. I cut the session about 20 minutes short and left. If this was not a groupon finding I probably would not have went. The outside and inside of the place looked sketchy enough. I got what i paid for. Be careful. PSA, the groupon name of the office is call Downtown Colonic when the actual business is called Hollywood Colonic. I don't know why this is but it just adds to the suspicious activity of the place. Robert made sure that if I came back to give him the money instead of paying groupon. He "doesn't like that they take 70%" of his profit. STAY AWAY FROM ROBERT!!! read more

I wouldn't say this experience was "life changing" for me nor am I sure I'll ever try this again, but for a first timer, it was at least an interesting way to spend an hour or so. I do think there needs to be some more attention paid to modesty. Although the doctor was very nice, you should know that there is a good chance that it will be a man administering the service and if you're not comfortable with that (and I'm not), you should ask about that up front. Also, the paper towel they give you to wrap your lower body in are flimsy, small and cheap. Basically you'll be running around the place practically naked. Again, some more attention needs to be paid to this to make what is an unusual experience a bit more comfortable. My experience overall was not bad and the tech (not sure of his name, he never introduced himself) was very nice. I feel it's important that other people know exactly what they're paying for/getting into when they arrive. I was freaked out when I pulled up and saw the exterior then I was a little worried I was signing myself for an experience out of a horror movie once I got inside. Alas, I didn't want to get dinged for $100 for not showing up so I texted my husband and asked him to come wait outside for me just in case. The process wasn't explained to me and initially, I felt super uncomfortable getting undressed from the waist down when from what I could tell it was only me and the male technician in the building. Once things got going I decided to relax and try to make the most of my experience. It was not the most uncomfortable thing I've ever done, but the overall appearance, inside and out of this clinic is incredibly suspect. They could really benefit from renovating and making their clinic at least seem professional and not like a sketchy crack house.
