Her work is gorgeous and she always accommodates to different styles and lengths I want to try. my lashes last multiple weeks and still look great. Recently I wanted to get my nails done last minute and she recommended me to one of her friends, Mary, and I was just as impressed with her. I hate when this happens, but I'm going to remove a star. After my first few times going here and a very favorable first impression, I was disappointed a few times with their time management. For example, I booked an appointment for a pedicure and fill. Like many places, they started my pedi first (a lot more nail techs can do pedi than can do acrylics). During my pedi I watched the owner, who was the only person doing acrylics that day, take a walk-in. In had to sit in that pedicure chair for about 45 minutes *after* my pedicure was done to wait for her. My pedi lady repeatedly can back and said "just 10 more minutes, ok?" I hate that bs, but they probably know if they say "Ok, now wait about 45 minutes for your fill," the client will most likely walk out--I would have! Other times, I was made to wait about 15-20 minutes from my arrival despite having an appointment because they were running behind. I still think they do very nice quality work, and I'm glad they're getting so much business, but I don't appreciate the disrespect shown to my time. read more

I visited Hollywood Nails after several of my aunts raved about their foot massages, claiming they're the best in town and typically last 25 minutes as part of a $45 pedicure. I called ahead and was told they could accommodate me at noon, so I drove over. When I arrived, the salon was empty, but shortly after my pedicure started, two other women arrived for their noon appointments. With only two technicians available, my pedicurist informed me that her colleague would need to finish my service after she's done with her other lash appointment. To make matters worse, another customer came in for a lash appointment shortly after the other technician began, and my service was rushed. Despite their reputation, I received no foot massage whatsoever--not even for a minute--and was charged $50 for what they considered "full service." The salon was disorganized, overbooked, and rushed through the service. I wasn't even given a chance to select my pedicure type from their menu. In the end, I felt I was overcharged for a subpar experience. I won't be returning and would advise others to avoid this place--a complete waste of time and money. read more

This place is hit or miss. I stopped coming here for a long while after waiting 45 minutes for them to get to my pedicure. Keep in mind that I had made an appointment. They sat me in a chair with my feet soaking in water which eventually got cold. Several employees walked past me over and over without acknowledging me or letting me know that they would be right with me. I boycotted for maybe 6 months or so after the incident but decided to give them another chance. This time was much better. I made an appointment and they took me right away. But only because the place was dead, lol. I'm all for accepting walk-ins. But not if that means you keep the people who've made appointments waiting.... They do good work though. And by day eight, 9 of the nails had come off in one piece. They all just came off, without any help from me. I took a picture. I paid $30.00 for the gel manicure and tipped $8.00. $38.00 is a lot to pay for a gel manicure that only lasted four (4) days. All the gel manicures I've had in the past, from other salons, have lasted at least three (3) weeks. Went back on Tuesday 04/12 to get my nails fixed because Kathy granted me that chance since my nails didn't even last longer than 3 days. I'm grateful that they did that for me but still my nails are already chipping. I think it's there gel products that don't seem to work. I shower, wash dishes and clean with gloves on for the same reason to protect my nails but that didn't seem to help my nails in this case. Friendly environment but work is not the best. read more

Went out on Hollywood Nails website and I can see that you can book from there - very cool right? - wrong! I booked through the running website and when I showed up with my printed reservations- I was given the look of "I have no idea what you're talking about" - I was not accommodated nor any apology... Kathy is usually on top of her game but this was definitely a fubar - she had me stand there with no explanation while she spoke in her native tongue trying to back step out of an uncomfortable situation. The right thing to do was to own it - apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused, and rectify somehow for her screw up. Instead, Kathy dismissed it 100%... Driving down Bascom on our way to go look for this one nail place that they were open we saw Hollywood nails stopped in and had the pleasure of me and Kathy and Mai. This quant small nail salon is perfect for a friendly nail spot. The ladies are very kind and understand, as I showed up to my appointment late. Kathy did my nails, they where acrylic and she explained exactly what she was going to do. In addition she told me that if I wanted a certain shape I would cost extra, rather than do it and a surprise charge later. The selection for polish is great, and the top coat make polish look like gel. The prices are incredibly Reasonable and will return soon. Recommend making a appointment if you want acrylics. I used to like going to this salon, but not anymore! The owner is nice, so are some other girls who work there for a long time, but they need to watch out for new people they hire! They don't do a good job at all (and it is not for the 1st time) . Yesterday, I came to the salon (my favorite nail salon was already closed), so I had no other choice but to go to this one since it is close to my home. The girl who did my pedicure was very nice and did a good job (sorry, don't know her name), but the other one (Ann) who did my manicure was horrible! She doesn't know how to paint nails at all!!! Instead of putting 2 even strokes of top coat, she just did 1 at the center of the nail leaving my manicure looking like it was done by a 2 year old or something... But the worst part is when I asked her to put 2 strokes, 1 closer to one side of the nail and 1 at the other. So she pretended she didn't understand. I appreciate that they are open on Sundays, welcoming last-minute appointments, friendly staff offering great service for fair prices, plus the location is convenient to my travel patterns. I treated myself and my daughter to a mani/pedi before my birthday celebration. Lynn and her staff all greeted us warmly, and had us sit in the big fluffy massage chairs. My daughter and I had a nice time chatting and reading the latest gossip magazines. I liked that they bust out warm stones to massage your legs with, but my massage was really weak. I also wish that the woman who worked on me would have paid more attention to scrubbing my heels, and that she would have trimmed my cuticles. I did not notice the sloppy polish job on my toes until later, and my fingernail polish chipped the same day. I don't treat myself to a manicure/pedicure often, so when I do, I expect it to be better than when I do it. It was not the worst, but if I ever return, I will be sure to see Lynn. My brand new go-to nail salon! Yay! I actually just got back from my first appointment at Hollywood Nails. I called earlier in the day to make my appointment here since it's literally 2 minutes away from my new place. I spoke with a very friendly lady on the phone, her name was Jaclyn and she asked for my number and recognized the area code as a SoCal number. Instantly, I knew the place had friendly techs. When I showed up it was raining pretty hard outside, and me being the SoCal slut that I am wore a tiny, lowcut VS summer dress with some sandals. I chose a good time to come in because they had no appointments, and since it was so bad out no one walked in during my entire appointment, so both Jaclyn and Lynn (the manager) worked on my mani/pedi. Store: Small and cozy Nail Color Selection: Tons and tons of OPI colors, the widest selection I've ever seen at any salon. Work Stations: Four decent manicure stations and 4 really updated and comfortable spa chairs. Nail Ladies: Friendly (and EXTREMELY friendly after they found out I speak, read and write Vietnamese) Pricing: Decent, $12 for regular manicure and $20 for spa pedicure Jaclyn did a great job with my manicure, she shaped my nails just as I wanted them. And Lynn gave me, by far, the best spa pedicure I've ever had. She used hot stones and oil and I believe the massage I got was well over 20 minutes. Intense and amazing!! I definitely developed a strong relationship with these women here. Jaclyn even wrote me out a list of great Vietnamese grocery stores in the area to shop at, since all I know how to cook is Vietnamese food. This place was conveniently located right by my house and with great reviews, I thought it was a no brainier to go here for a quick pedicure. When I walked in, there was only one customer and two people working. The shop is tiny with a limited amount of space for customers. For a Saturday, I was surprised this place wasn't more packed but it was in my interest that they were not busy so I am not going to complain on that front. I asked how much a pedicure and she replied with $20. Personally, I've paid less but like I said, this procrastinator was in a big hurry. The lady who was helping me broke the ice with a joke about her first name being Jamie and her last name Kennedy. It was cute and I could tell she had done this line many times. Still, my thoughts were that she was trying to be friendly. The seat was comfortable and I found the massage chair to be a lot more easier on my back then others I had experienced. My technichian didn't talk to me really except for when she told me to move my feet in and out of the tub. She wasn't exactly rude but at the same time, it wasn't really in a friendly tone either. Just kind of strange to be honest. Not really sure how to describe it. Before she was going to start painting my nails, she began to wash my feet. Without testing the water, she sprayed the hose to rinse off the soap. Unfortunately for me, she DID NOT check the water temperature and the water burned. It was WAY too hot. I winced in pain and pulled my feet back in an automatic reaction. She didn't apologize. Later, she was putting lotion on me and whatever she put on my legs, began to BURN really badly. I told her and she began removing it. I don't know what she used but this has never happened to me before. Due to this happening, she told me she wasn't going to use the hot rocks either on my skin (for fear of the same reaction) I agreed but was annoyed because I still had to pay for its as part of the pedicure even though I wasn't getting the service. She finished and the nails looked good enough, but nothing very special. I also noticed that she seemed to "zone out" during the pedicure. And I don't mean, not talking to me. I mean she literally almost stopped doing anything.. she was only half using body pressure for the massage and was staring out the window. I honestly didn't even know what to think at that point. I was just getting aggravated because she was wasting a lot of time. The pedicure could have been done much faster if she wasn't zoned out.. Don't get me wrong, if you want to take your time and massage my feet for an extra length of time- normally I'd be OKAY with that (who wouldn't?) But she wasn't doing that. Just straight up not checked in. While I was waiting for my nails to dry in a different chair, I couldn't help but noticed their sign they had up that read and I quote: " Don't speak Vietnamese while with a customer" Interesting..Not sure I'd come back. Normally, I would never come to this part of San Jose/Willow Glen/Cambell (sheesh!) area to get my toe nails did, but since I was already here....Thanks to the Yelp app on my Android, I was able to find this place very easily. Holla! It was around 930a on a Saturday and there were already 3 ladies getting treated with the Hollywood glam. I sat in the chair, which turned out to be a massage chair. It's definitely not the type you'll find at a Brookstone but when your toes are soaking in hot bubbly water (it was scorching until I told her to cool it down) you could care less. Now, don't take this the wrong way but I truly appreciated that the two ladies working there did not speak to each other in their native tongue while I flipped through my celebrity tabloids. They actually commented on my tattoo and we had a nice conversation about it. Plus, I left my Evo on the wiggly chair and the girl tending my toes told me to move it so it doesn't fall into the foot spa. It's those little attention to detail qualities I like when I get a pedi. My french pedi still looks bomb after 2 weeks. It came out to $25 plus I gave her a $5 tip. This location is pretty far from U.C. but if I'm ever in this area, I'll definitely stop by. I come here for pedicures and I really like their service here. They let your feet soak in warm water for about 10-15 minuets before starting and include a scrub massage (its the best part!!). They put some blue stuff in the water too not sure if it serves a purpose past looking cool though. The place itself is rather small with only 3 pedicure chairs and 4 nail stations. The are also located in a small lot with a small parking lot. I haven't had any issues with parking or getting in though. I also have never had to wait which is super nice. I also happened to come really last minute once and though the service was rushed, they still helped me. They also take appointments but with walk ins coming in all the time, you may not actually get your nails done when your appointment time was set for. The easy way to avoid this is to make the first appointment in the AM available. The two things that I consider cons are that they do not use tubs or line the pedicure stations between uses. I have seen them "clean" it by rubbing it down but there are no suds or anything as they scrub so I think they just rinse between people. I try my best to come early in the morning since I know they do scrub them with cleaner at closing. The other con is that you get charged for your tip here. So while it is a $20 pedicure, you will still pay a $5 tip no matter what. So this is nice if you never have cash but can be cumbersome if you do not have a good experience. read more

There were 3 people working this Saturday afternoon and they all paid attention to detail with each patron walking through their door. I decided to get a pedicure as I waited for my car to be washed a few businesses down. I walked in and was greeted by Kathy. She told me that I most likely needed to wait 30 minutes because they were all busy. I had a lot of time so I decided to wait. They have tons of shellac polishes but lack regular nail polish. I say this because some people like me like to have their nails match their toes! Lol. Not biggie though, I found someone close to my nail color and it went well. The lady that did my pedicure was quiet (which I like). She did an excellent job removing cuticles, painting, and the massage. It was really relaxing. She took her time and was very calm. One thing I do admire is their CLEANLINESS. They've got the autoclave machine and their steam tool pot running after every client. So don't worry about infected nails here! read more

I have been coming to Hollywood Nails for 4 years. Last week I received a gel manicure, and within days all my polish was off. The Nail Tech rushed and got the clear Gel all over my cuticles, which was not only sloppy, but when you try to clean off the clear, it peals away the polish. When I called, they said this was very unlikely! Why would I lie, I have no polish on my nails! I will not be back. Also, several weeks ago while I was having a pedicure here, i overheard another customer who walked in saying the same thing happened to her. Incredibly disappointed that I was unable to be assisted for an appointment that I had made days in advance. I had specifically booked with Kathy and had her confirmation via text. Being incredibly busy working two jobs while being a student, it isn't easy to take time off to get my nails done. I was really looking forward to getting my nails done only to be told that they had me down for the incorrect day in their book. (Even though both of our texts explicitly said Thursday instead of Friday) Of course, my schedule is not a flexible as many others, so I was unable to accommodate their error.
