What a great brewery! It's off the main road, tucked away at the end of a small strip mall, but inside it's very open & clean. Lots of board games & a tv. No food but they let you bring in your own. The staff was so friendly! And the beers were really good!! We tried 3 different IPAs and I enjoyed them all. But my favorite was the DIPA---so citrusy and hoppy with a great flavor. Pronounced "Hall-sop-ple" cause for some reason I struggled to pronounce the name, but didn't struggle to love the place. The space itself has nothing particular of note. However we were greeted right when we walked in. Slightly easy to do, since the bar is right at the entrance. We discussed their origin story that developed the Holsopple IPA and talked about their expanding beers. I enjoyed my Nitro Stout and the very casual vibes. They offer several board games and have one TV setup for older video games. The other TV's in the place were set to sports. A few tables were filled with friends meeting for game play and there were a couple of dogs in the back relaxing while we all listened to 1990's gunge music like Limp Bizkit and Sound Garden. Seems like a great place to meet up and relax. We found this place in efforts to grab a little liquid courage before heading literally next door to beginner dance lessons at Dance Louisville. We came on a Friday night. The beers were so good that we had to come back again the next day. With our toddler. There was a bouncy house and a fundraiser for the YMCA which was awesome. On the Friday that we came (last night) the bartender was The Worst. She was rude and disengaged and clearly didn't give a crap about customers. I can't believe I haven't reviewed Holsopple yet. I love this local brewery. It's small and welcoming. Beer is always rotating with fun new ales. The owners are fun and excited to interact with customers. The tap room is small but has expansion plans. The patio is perfect on a nice day. You can grab a board games and play with your friends while you enjoy a few brews. Most pints cost $5, but it's easy to build a flight. You can fill growlers here too! There are two TVs so you can watch some sporting events but if there are no games on, you can grab a controller and play some classic video games on the screen. There is no food for purchase at Holsopple but they have several local takeout menus for you to order food for delivery. Honestly, this place is a hidden gem. Don't miss it! read more

I really enjoyed Holsopple and am pretty stoked a brewery came to "my side of town"!! Even though I just moved, mom my lives walking distance and I see myself here a lot. Too much. BAHAHA!! I truly enjoyed myself. Each beer I had was tasty. The St. SOB Irish Porter was my favorite. It was cool how they had a big tent set up for folks to enjoy their drinks outside. Nothing better than a warm sunny day and some outdoor drankin'. Yeah, there are a few tweaks they need to make, but in all honesty I think starting off they did a darn tootin' great job. All the staff were very warm and welcoming. I was told by the owners brother that they are working on a bigger and better sign so people can actually tell where it's at. Loved they had a food truck on premises. Also loved how To-Go Sushi is directly in front of it. I may grab a roll one day and enjoy my eats while I drink. Perfecto! There were also board games to play outside and a porta-pot if you don't want to venture inside. I forgot to take a picture of the beer board, but most 16 oz pours were only $5! A new filled growler was $20 and a refill was $13. The only thing I would try to change is adding some good music to the mix. Hopefully it would help drown out the noise from the food truck. After learning about the opening of this brewery months ago I kept telling myself I would go try them out but continually forgot. One day after hours of yard work the stars aligned and my girlfriend and I were on our way. We were both hungry and knew they didn't have food there, other than some snacks. We decided to stop on the way and eat at the brewery. When we arrived I wasn't sure if they were open or not. We came all this way so I had to try the door. To our relief they were open! Walking in you notice a smaller, cozy tap room. For the cool nice days you can sit outside under their tent. I always want to try everything that a brewery has to offer, via a flight or two. Once I find the best I usually order a glass. Their 8 beers on tap did not disappoint. My favorite being their Project Alpha "D." The imperial IPA for packed full of hops and booze that balance each other out for a malty, hoppy drink. The bartender was very attentive and was efficient serving the small crowd. Wow, did I miss something? Reading other Yelp reviews makes me wonder if I was in the same place! Party of four. We were greeted by a young lady that was quick to tell us she wasn't the bartender but she would get us a beer if we wanted one. She was very matter-of-fact and our entire party felt unwelcome. Two in our party couldn't drink due to taking meds. We tried to order two soft drinks for the non drinkers and were told, "We don't sell soft drinks". Next I asked to purchase two bottles of water. Once again no bottled water. The young lady commented, "We only sell beer". She did point to a water cooler around the corner and said that's all they had available. The three stars reflect a nice beer selection and reasonable pricing. Two beers were tried, a pale ale and Irish Red. The pale ale was good, and the person drinking the Irish Red said it was ok, not outstanding, but good. Our last visit here and the vibe we got makes me feel that's ok with the young lady too! Tucked away in a small shopping strip behind ToGo Sushi is Louisville's newest addition to the brewery scene, Holsopple Brewing. They check all the right boxes for your local neighborhood watering hole. Great atmosphere. Awesome people. And of course the beer. So what about the beer? The beer is tasty. It's good craft brew, but it feels very approachable for those that might be new to the craft beer scene. At the time of the public opening they have six beers on draft with plans to add more. My friends and I tired all of them , but my favorite by far was the St. SoB. It's a dry Irish stout that drinks very much like a Murphy's or a Guinness. Prices are really reasonable at $5-6 for a pint, $2-2.50 for a 5oz pony, and $13 for a growler. The only downside is that they don't serve food (except for chips and other small bagged snacks), but based on their Facebook page it looks like they will have food trucks there fairly regularly. Primarily, the beer is good. Four stars on that. My biggest problems are with the atmosphere and comfort level of the place. The lights really should be lowered a little. The stools made my legs go to sleep quickly and weren't inviting me to stick around and keep drinking. And finally, it gets very loud with only a few people in there. The owners need to invest in some noise insulation, as the hard surfaces of the walls and floor turn the small area into an echo chamber. I had a hard time focusing on conversation with my table-mates. I had started this review as a tip so I didn't have to ding the place with a 3-star rating, but it was too long. So take the 3-star rating with a grain of salt if all you want to know is whether the beer is good. read more

Coming from Denver, I'm no stranger to great little breweries; Holsopple Brewing is no exception. On a rainy Saturday of Thunder over Louisville, it was hard to tell this hidden gem was open, but I'm glad we decided to park and try it out. The Beertender was super friendly and informative and enjoyed having a conversation about the beers -- you could tell he was passionate. The beer was tasty and had character which is something that I always value in small breweries. They are willing to try out new styles for brewing and pursuing new flavors that is uniquely Holsopple. What a gem! I'm glad my husband and I discovered Holsopple. They have a great rotating selection (from what I recall, at least 10 beers available). My personal favorite was their Gose (I like 'em sour!). The bartender was intent on helping us find beers we enjoyed, so we were able to sample a few before selecting our glasses. It's a really fun environment, with board games and video games on a bigger monitor. They are also flexible with bring your own food and delivery, as their snack selection is limited. Shhhh! So I know giving 5 stars is awesome but I sorta want this place to myself! super low-key location, plenty of parking, off the beaten path. The most important part - beer - was amazing. Their witbier was superb and El Jefe tasty. It is a small interior with friendly patrons. They recently installed a system where you can play old school video games from Atari, Nintendo, etc. etc. which was awesome. It brought back memories and connected you instantly to others in the establishment. My husband used the unisex bathroom and said it was very clean and smelled good. T-shirts, hats, growers are all for sale there at reasonable prices. Minimal food available (chips) but quite a few groups brought food in and there is a list of places that deliver visible to the customers. Local feel. Great tasting beer. Big TVs. Respectable servers. The environment was great and I can't wait to go back. There is also a nice bier garden I hope to visit as the temperature drops. Prost! read more

GPS got us to Holsopple since it's a bit out of the way. It was a great down-home brewpub with friendly servers and local customers! Went to Holsopple on a Friday night and had a good time. There was live music and they also had Friday night football on the TVs. It is a small bar but cozy. They have board games (some pieces missing) but enough to keep the game going. I loved the Holsapple cider and peach cider. I would say they are reasonably priced. read more

She just seemed plain annoyed while serving us, even more annoyed as we were paying our tab and picking out a beer to take home. Finally was able to make it over to Holsopple. It's not convenient for me as I don't live or work close to it, but I'm glad I made my way over here. I had had their beer at the Kentucky Guild Brew Festival in June and really enjoyed it. I came with my dad the other afternoon and ordered the Aloupa. Quite tasty and refreshing. Dad went with their lager and he enjoyed it as well. The space inside is quite small, but there outdoor seating under the tent makes it feel much larger and cozier. We sat inside this time, but I'd love to come hang out on the picnic tables and play some of the games they have available, including corn hole. I'm also excited to try more of their beers in the future. Staff is helpful and friendly--- not pretentious at all, which is well appreciated in the craft beer scene. They don't serve food, but often have a food truck and you can bring in from outside places. We brought some to-go sushi in for dinner. Highly recommend checking this place out.
