The place has a very nice cozy feel yet almost like you're in a different country or manhattan. This is a gem in the Bronx. A real fancy looking bougie spot like you can take your family, friends, or loved ones here to celebrate for a special occasion. You cannot go to a steakhouse and not have a steak, the ny strip was juicy and there were plenty of options to choose from for a sauce and comes with one side dish. My steak my pipping hot and I love that. My partner had the rib eye and had no complaints. The crab cake was delicious with a mango and pepper combination with the right amount of kick. On another note, our waitress was attentive and our bartender Ariel was on point and friendly. The drinks were definitely made with his own flair, I had a lychee martini and cosmo totally forgot to include that. He even gave us shots to celebrate Mother's Day, don't judge me guys. We came to BX Steakhouse on a Suday night for love music and a few bites. The location is undoubtedly a picture of why not to sleep on the Bronx - great to drive to, easy to find parking, lively, and chill. I thought Sunday night would be quiet at Home BX but I was pleasantly surprised and I told myself I would make it a point to leave Long Island more often and at off-peak times. I had eggplant croquettes, which were crispy on the outside and super special and unique. I also had a creamy seafood pasta and would gladly order it again. I really wanted this place to stand out and become a staple in Riverdale, so I truly hope they continue to improve and evolve. Below, you will find are a few notes about our first visit to Home Bx. First off, my real rating for Home Bx is 2.5 stars. However, since Yelp doesn't have half stars, I had to round down to 2 stars because the place really does need some work. On this 2.5-star visit, we got to the restaurant early and sat at the bar for Happy Hour. The margaritas for Happy Hour were tasty, and the service was good. But after a couple of drinks, the bartender switched out to another individual who wasn't quite as attentive. When the new bartender arrived, we decided to surrender our table reservation and just eat at the bar, so we ordered apps and food (but asked for our apps to come out first). About 20 minutes later, we noticed the folks in the bar seats next to us got food delivered to them--selections that looked surprisingly like all of the items we had ordered. We thought that was odd because we had ordered an array of items, and the chances someone right beside us ordered the exact same selections was not very likely. Well, low and behold, that couple DID get our food AND had the gall to accept our food--apps AND entrees--and all things that they did not order!! I guess they thought they were getting away with something because we heard them laugh about it. And, although the staff eventually figured it out, no one apologized but instead just acknowledged the mistake and agreed to re-make all of our items. (Couple next to us still snickering.) About 30 more minutes later, our replacement meal arrived, and, boy, was it a mess! First off, the baked oysters were cold (the stuffing was almost frozen). Next up, the clams, which were supposed to come with garlic bread, came only with plain bread (although our "neighbors" who got our original order had a tray of luscious looking garlic bread). The burger we ordered was acceptable, but the bun was a bit dry and fries were not hot. The only saving grace was the Beef Bourginon, which was tasty. At the end of the night, the bartender gave us our bill and had not made any adjustments (nor had he apologized). We called him over to complain about the entire evening, and he took one appetizer off the bill. Definitely not the compensation we were looking for, especially because it took almost an hour to get our food, and the food was subpar for the most part. I'd like to give Bx another shot, so I'm hopeful they get their act together. read more

Came here last night while visiting my cousin in the Bronx. Opened this year and definitely was not disappointed. We ordered lobster Mac and cheese which I didn't get a picture of before my cousin finished half of the dish lol. We both got flavored margaritas. I ordered the salmon with fingerling potatoes, veggie medley and roe. The sauce was a dill mustard and it was great! My cousin got the cheeseburger which was messy but good! I want to start this review by acknowledging how beautiful the ambiance is and how great the staff is. What a pleasure it was to visit this establishment. We sat at the bar, and even though , there was a lot of customers, the bartender was attentive and helpful and friendly to all patrons, including my wife and I. We had tamarindo mojitos and passion fruit margaritas. They were pleasing to the eyes and tasty. For food we had the bbq chick wings, the baked clams and the chimi sliders. All the food was tasty. The only complaint about the food was that the wings and sliders came out cold. I guess they were sitting for a while but literally that's our only complaint. The food was still tasty. Came here on Saturday night for drinks and to watch the NBA playoffs and sat at the bar. I was surprised as this place came up as a sports bar, it's an upscale sports bar with live music, very relaxed crowd and great food and drinks. I wanted to try everything on the menu and settled for Yuca Dips (fried yuca smothered in a delicious cheese sauce and paired with a chipotle alioli type sauce- definitely asked for extra sauce on the side), crab cake with a mango salsa and crispy wings. When you step into this establishment you notice the amount of thought that was put into decorating the interior. Slowly oscillating ceiling fans, lovely globe shaped lights hanging down by the bar, cozy faux fireplace seating area with a low table for a friendly homey feeling, and dining areas of wooden tables and chairs fitted with velvet cushions for comfort. Three enormous screens continuously stream various sports events behind the bar. There was music playing which bordered on being loud, but was not too loud to require shouting across the table when talking. We were each given a glass of water, which was room temperature and then a pitcher of ice water was available to us. The waitress we had was friendly and accommodating. There were seven of us in our group and we were presented with exactly 7 dinner rolls. The seasoned butter was tasty, but the rolls were neither warm nor soft. The cocktails we ordered were works of art and fun to drink. Our food order arrived in a timely fashion, at the appropriate temperature. My NY strip steak was cooked to perfection, as were my Brussels sprouts and whipped potatoes. Everyone was satisfied with their meal choice and portion size. There was a mix-up when the ice cream cake we brought to celebrate my niece's birthday was accidentally presented to another table. We asked the waitress about our cake when we noticed what we thought was our cake being served to a nearby group. She assured us it was not our cake. Well, it was. I must commend the restaurant workers for quickly racing off to a neighborhood Carvel and replacing the cake. The evening was not destroyed. I question the cost of the food since the prices seem to be more suitable to an upscale eatery, and this place has the feel of a hybrid establishment, part sports bar, part steakhouse, and part lounge? (Live entertainment was setting up as we were leaving around 8 pm.) Regardless, the place does have a positive welcoming vibe. Came here last night as a party of 4 to celebrate my brother's birthday. Though we started off in a festive mood, the experience left us feeling "meh". My sis got the sea bass and risotto... She cleaned her plate and didn't even offer me a bite to try! Her food came out piping hot as well. The rest of us didn't fully enjoy our food. We got a side of the thick bacon for the table that was burnt on one side and the rind was tough to eat. The birthday boy got the boeuf bourguignon... He ate it, but said it was nothing to write home about. My brother-in-law got the burger and it came out more rare than he wanted, unfortunately. He's the type not to send food back, though, so he ate it. He said the bun got really soggy, which impacted his enjoyment of the burger. I got the lamb chops (medium) with creamed spinach. My lamb chops were a bit salty, more on the well done side and came out lukewarm. I thought about sending them back, but decided not to because I was hungry and didn't want to wait. By the time I got to the third lamb chop, it was cold and tough, which was disappointing. But I rolled with it. What I couldn't get past, however, were the pieces of plastic in my creamed spinach. The first time I bit into something hard, I thought it was an especially rough piece of stem... Though I spit it out, I didn't look closely at it. Also, the lighting in the restaurant was quite dim. But the second time I felt something sharp, I spit it out and shined my phone flashlight on it... I was able to confirm I had two small pieces of plastic on my plate. I can't say for sure whether I swallowed any, I pray I didn't. My sister alerted a server passing by, who brought over a manager along with our original server... I was offered an apology and discount on my meal. I thanked them and said it was a shame, since I was enjoying my creamed spinach up to that point. Our server then offered to bring me a new side of spinach to go, since everyone else at the table was pretty much done eating by that point, and I accepted after being assured my new side would be plastic-free. The bill comes, and there is no discount. I bring it to our server's attention, and he said "You asked for the side." I expressed that it wasn't made clear to me the new side was in lieu of the discount, and he said he could add the discount but he would also have to ADD THE NEW SIDE TO THE BILL. I actually stared at him for a few seconds before I decided not to argue and just paid the bill. That put a damper on things, and I walked out of there feeling pretty dissatisfied with my experience. Last night was my second time dining at restaurant, and likely my last. I will say the drinks, which were tasty and strong, and the slice of cheesecake they brought out for the birthday boy were much appreciated. read more

Service was Ok i sat at the bar but what i would say if this is calling itself a steakhouse, when u sit at the bar to eat they supposed to set u up with a handkerchief on the bar top to rest ur food at, especially if u having oysters so it wont slide across the bar. Each table should in my opinion have white table cloth's non did it was bare wood tables looking much more like a Irish pub or burger bar. People had backpacks on the bar top and Starbucks coffee on the table. (which is fine if this was a pub or burger bar). OK y'all this ones gonna be a long one. I am so so happy I found this lil hidden in plain sight gem! We went for bae's birthday and let me tell you this place did not disappoint! Quick review here. Summary is that this place was excellent, great atmosphere and food, would go again. Went there Friday early evening with my parents, my wife, and my daughter - so 5 of us. My folks live in Riverdale and we normally go to Jakes, but wanted to try an alternative. Got here around 6:15pm and spent a couple of hours. Server (Vivian I think) was great, very friendly, told us that Happy Hour was still on so we ordered a few mojitos (or Margaritas, not sure) and went from there. Food - had the thick bacon which was 3 strips. Good, but a little too sweet for me, and would have preferred 2 thicker strips. But not bad. The Pork Belly, otoh, was phenomenal. Crispy pork belly in a chickpea base. Wow. Actually would have sat and eaten a whole plate of this stuff. Yummy. Main courses, we had steaks (all done perfectly and good meat), and Beef Bourguignon - again, all cooked just right. Sides were good too. Pricewise was less than other steak places. Had a great bar I would have sat up at if I weren't with my folks, buzz was good later on as we were leaving, crowd was nice, service was great. Anyways, that's it. I think this place must be new and it's odd that I see such mixed reviews so far, that's why I wrote this - I thought it was excellent. I hate giving this review because I want this place to succeed. A friend and I were there recently for a birthday dinner. We ordered a $70 ribeye, medium rare. It came out well done and over salted besides. The server agreed that the steak had been overcooked and confessed that the chef was becoming shoddy on his detail work. I didn't want to make a big deal, so we didn't send it back. Server gave us a free dessert. Not a big deal, because even the best places make mistakes. Round 2: Today I ordered a slice of cheesecake to go, $8.71. The bartender shorted me $.29 in change, so I asked her about it. She was incredulous I wanted $.29 saying, "That's the way we do it here." Miss, if you're going to round as a server, round in favor of the customer. Otherwise, it's theft. Details matter. The place is large enough for bigger groups. They have a bar area as well. Since we only wanted to drinks we sat at the bar. We were seated and greeted quickly. The drinks we tried are Class Af , Far East , the kings bridge and a ride home. We came around the afternoon I believe a Friday and not sure if they offered happy hour but our drinks were about 15-16$ each. I would say all the drinks were delicious and had a refreshing taste. I would say presentation was definitely there drinks were very pretty. The kings bridge however was my favorite as I prefer my drinks strong and that one did the trick. The other ones were good but more on the fruity side and more juice than anything else. The ambience is great and customer service was also great. I was very pleasantly surprised by this newish Riverdale/Kingsbridge place. "Trendy" Bronx places are almost always lackluster. But this place was surprisingly good. Better than the old school Jake's down the road. We went for Riverdale Restaurant Week and really were not expecting very much. The NY Strip was great and the choice of sauces (chimichuri, bernaise, and others) was welcomed. We also had the Ossobuco, which is not the easiest thing to get right, and it was great. Came here on a last min Saturday night date and was not disappointed. Live music was great although a bit on the loud side but it was the service and food that won us over. Jonathan was our waiter and he was super helpful with the menu and even gave us the heads up when it came to the kitchens closing time so we wouldn't miss the deadline. We ordered the Filet mignon with whipped mashed, lobster Mac and cheese, and yuca tots. The steak was literally melting in our mouths and the lobster Mac was so creamy.
