We always get take-out from Home when visiting Big Canoe. Great service and great food at a decent price.

I am so sad I did not take any pictures, but let me just say, this place was AWESOME! Every aspect, the ambiance, the drinks, the food, the service. This dinner was the perfect start to our girls weekend, we had the best time!! We started with an order of Brussels sprouts. Phenomenal. The creamy lemon truffle sauce on them is soooo yummy. Everything on the menu sounded so good, I had a difficult time ordering. But I finally decided on the Memphis Chicken sandwich and man was I happy with my choice! IT WAS SO GOOD! The slight kick of the yum sauce with the slight sweetness of the yeast bun and the crisp homemade pickle was out of this world. AND it's double stacked with chicken, so very filling. Highly recommend. And of course I have to mention our server, Cameron. Sorry we kept talking to her for so long but she was just so lovely! She was very attentive and helpful with the menu. We asked about a million questions and she was so patient and answered each one. In short, this place is great. We hope to come back! read more

We were staying in the nearby state park and it was close but it was the best choice by far. Excellent service by our waiter Luke. From the starting appetizers, to the main entrees and then to the desserts, all were all awesome. Had the white Cosmo and it was fantastically crafted by the bartender. I had the shrimp and grits and my husband had the fillet. Both were wonderfully prepared and delicious. Their desserts are made in house by a pasty chef and were incredible as well. Another great date night at HOME! We had the dry aged NY Strip and it was probably one of the best steaks we have ever had! The flavors were insane. We are visiting family and went to Home for dinner this evening! I would drive 3.5 hours from my house just to eat at this restaurant. Everything from the ambiance to the service to the food was in a word, perfect! I ordered the rack of lamb which was cooked to perfection medium rare. The sides were perfectly paired and prepared.Everything we ordered came out perfect. They have tater tots the size of giant marshmallows and there wine list is excellent! We recently went to the Home restaurant right outside the gates of Big Canoe. This was our second visit, and it did not disappoint. I always like to try the shrimp and grits and they were wonderful. My date chose the sirloin steak special and proclaimed it the best steak he's ever had. A great meal with superb service. Reasonable prices too. Covid? This place ROCKS! Everyone wore their mask and can't imagine it being any better pre-covid! We were late due to not knowing the area...Alex the voice on the phone said don't worry we are about to close but let's get your order so when you arrive you are accommodated. A Visit to "Home" Restaurant in Jasper Georgia. We recently had an opportunity to dine at "Home". It was fantastic! First, we made the reservation through Open Table and it was flawless. We even had to change the reservation from 4 to 2 people, I was able to complete the task online with no trouble and received a confirmation immediately. Kudos! We arrived to find a cute, older, quaint, well maintained building. The hostess, Alex, greeted us warmly and showed us to our table. She acknowledged the customers that had recommended "Home" to us. The atmosphere is warm and inviting without being loud or boisterous. Our server, Heather, was professional. She greeted us asking if we were new to the area and welcomed us with sincerity. We ordered a cocktail which was delivered quickly. We ordered the Brussels Sprouts as an appetizer and it was spectacular! With good timing skills that come only from an experienced server, Heather kept an eye on us. She didn't hover over the table, nor did she ignore us. I ordered the fillet which was served beautifully, nice texture, quite flavorful and the perfect medium rare. It was delicious. Hubby ordered the special of the evening which was a tuna dish. It was perfectly cooked with long strands of peeled carrot that looked more like spaghetti! It added a great crunch to the tuna. Both dishes were perfection. We chatted for a moment with Heather. As we were first time customers, we inquired about some of the other "daily specials" that are regularly offered. When she mentioned that they offer Halibut on a fairly regular basis, I watched hubby's eyes light up, as that is his favorite. We continued with our fantastic meal, Heather paying attention, but not intruding. she told us we can always check the website to see the daily special, or that they don't mind if we call to check. She then came by and told us that she had informed the chef of our excitement of the Halibut. He picked up the phone and ordered halibut, which would be available on the menu this weekend! Wow! That's good service right there! We felt valued and appreciated by the owner/chef. It was hubs birthday, they brought a truffle and a candle. No singing or drawing undue attention, just a sign that they appreciated our business. I had the white chocolate cheesecake with rasberries. Man, was it good! The sweet lady that was removing the empty dishes from our table was terrific and had a good sense of humor. I wish I had asked her name so we could acknowledge her in this post. The check was presented and was very reasonable considering the quality of the food. At our request, she allowed us to finish the last of our wine at the bar so we didn't feel like we were overstaying at the dinner table. We travel all over the world for business and pleasure. I can honestly say that "Home" is one of the best dining experiences we have ever had, anywhere. We will be regular customers at this fine establishment. Do not hesitate, you'll be missing out. We were visiting Amicalola Falls, and decided to grab dinner here. We did take out because of covid. What a great decision! The food was amazing, especially for the price and the fairly remote location, and they were so careful with social distancing and food pick up, unlike all the other places we visited around the region. We had the flatbread, meatloaf, and the spicy cruciferous (best cauliflower/broccoli I've ever had!). Just wish we had found this place sooner. Home Restaraunt was amazing! We had a rehearsal lunch here and it was delicious. The salad was fresh, well made, with quality ingredients. The steak was cooked exactly how I specified and was flavorful and tender with the perfect blend of herbs. The asparagus and smashed potatoes on the side were also cooked well. The asparagus was by no means undercooked, or overcooked. The smashed potatoes were smooth and crcrea, and a great pairing with the steak. It was then followed by a delicious chocolate tart. It was a combination of a salty bottom, with a chocolaty top with a raspberry glaze. I admit, at first when I saw the portion sizes I was initially skeptical because it did not look like much. However, I left completely stuffed. Their ingredients are so fresh and high quality that you don't need as much volume. We will definitely be returning to Home Restaraunt!! read more

Best meal I've had at a restaurant in 10 years! Our waiter (Michael) was great, lots of personality and provided great service. The burrata appetizer was great-light, fresh and a great starter. I had the filet, cooked perfect and fantastic taste and seasoning. Sides that came with it were awesome as well. Wife had swordfish on Israeli couscous and it was equally as good. Blueberry crisp dessert with ice cream was a great finish to a great meal. Only downcheck is they're not open on Sun/Mon so we need to find somewhere else to eat before we head home! We have passed by this restaurant for years and finally made reservations to try it. The atmosphere, service, and food were amazing. I had shrimp and grits, hubby had the Thursday night steak special, and my mom had chicken Ceasar salad. We each loves out entrees and the wine. Just about all of the food is locally sourced and the menu tells you what ingredient came from where. And when I say local, I mean within a 50 mile radius and closer. Just about everything is made in house, including the ice cream with the desserts we ordered. I usually find a little something as a "needs improvement" area, but not at this place. We plan to return often and soon. read more

Living in a big city affords me many top notch dining options. Staying in Big Canoe for a week does not. Home, however, is a solid four stars. I didn't have a reservation on a Wednesday evening, but we got there early and didn't have a problem. It would appear by the full house by the time we left that reservations might come in handy. My guess is that means I'm not the only one that believes they offer the best anywhere near here! The menu is small, but tasty. There are specials each night, and even the dessert menu changes. Even the staff is excited about how good the food is. I would return here if I ever stay at Big Canoe again! read more
