What a great restaurant! This was our first visit and we really enjoyed ourselves. The staff was super-friendly and knowledgeable. They have a full bar and did a wonderful job with the drinks. I had the Swordfish w/rice and broccolini. This was a well-executed dish that was beautifully presented and quite enjoyable. For dessert had the banana crunch cake ala mode - superb!

Must have reservations! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very small restaurant set in house off the road...parking limited.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Peeked around to see lovely set tables with a fresh rose, and windows to view outside trees.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]No sterile bright lit environment, which I loved, nice music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Separate bar area with a couple tables which also takes reservations.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Take out menu appears quite larger than daily changing menu. Ordered the local Watermelon radish salad, and brownie like ice cream dessert...restaurant made bread etc..also for purchase. Had the Everything bagel for breakfast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A few tables outside on front porch entry area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Had a fabulous time dining at "Home." We had reservations at 7p & arrived 15 mins early. Our table wasn't ready but we were seated within 5 mins. The menu was not huge but the dishes seemed tasty & prices weren't too high. Not a lot of non-alcoholic options but they have the basics. Wine & draft options are extensive. All the dishes from beginning to end were good. Nothing was over seasoned. Everyone who served us acknowledged what we were there to celebrate & we were given complimentary in-house-made chocolate truffles. Most diners were of an older crowd but it's a family-friendly setup & great for date night, business meeting, or night out with friends. Low pop & r&n plays low throughout the restaurant. Low lightening with a chill vibe where you can dress up or down. This is a hidden gem.

Wow. This was one of the best meals that I have ever had. We ordered carry out through the Toast Tab app, and the process went very smoothly. They also offer dine in but make sure to get a reservation! We ordered the Grilled Chicken meal for 2, The Ribs for 2, the Caesar Salad, and the Brussel sprouts. The grilled chicken was very well seasoned and it was served with great Mac and cheese and Focaccia. The Focaccia was incredible! It had a subtle sweetness to it that was amazing. The ribs weren't my favorite thing that I ate there, but they were still very tasty. They were served with a delicious squash casserole and two dinner rolls. The Caesar salad was pretty standard and tasted very fresh. The Brussel Sprouts were absolutely incredible. The combination of the lemon and the Parmesan was so good. I wish I would've gotten multiple orders. The portions were good and the food wasn't overly expensive. Overall we were very pleased with our experience ordering from The Home Restaurant and we will definitely return if we are in Big Canoe again.

The host was very friendly and got us to our table without any delays. Our server Amanda was very attentive and welcoming. She explained all of the gluten free items(my mom has celiacs) and gave us ample time to look over the menu. I got the hanger steak, she got the salmon. Both were amazing. Couldn't be happier with the food, ambience, and service. We will definitely be coming back.

Tried the Shrimp and Grits on this visit, and the dish really could've used some kind of broth or…read moresauce to pull it together. With a heavy mound of onions and mushrooms on top, the grits ended up feeling dry and pulled all the moisture out of the bite. The flavor itself was fine, just lacking moisture and balance. We also ordered the scallops and risotto. The risotto was the standout. Bright, fresh finish, great texture, and not overpowering. The scallops, unfortunately, were the opposite. They had a noticeably strong smell right away, which usually means they're not as fresh as they should be, especially at a $40 price point. We took them home, but every time we opened the fridge the smell hit us, so they ultimately went in the trash. Despite this particular experience, we've always enjoyed this place. Service is consistently great, drinks are solid, and we usually leave happy. Hoping this was just an off evening, because we genuinely like coming here. Adding an additional * for the great service and because we haven't had a bad experience otherwise.

We used to be regulars, and then we stopped going. The food isn't bad and for Canton the restaurant…read moremenu fits in nicely. So why 3 stars? It's the drink prices. No one in town charges more for a beer than this place. For example, I enjoy local IPAs and Creature Comforts (Athens) is everywhere. I can go to several other stops in town and pay less for a 16 oz can or pour of this beer. Compared to another decent stop down the street, three roses is almost 30% more. My wife says one of the wines she likes is a little less than other stops, so that's good. But other drink prices tend to be on the high side as well, but most in town have higher liquor prices. That adds up if you like to frequent a place. Hence, we stopped frequenting. Overall, I like the decor and as noted, the food is decent. The upstairs is better than the downstairs but I'm glad they have the downstairs for some occasion when they could get busy. As for the Tavern / entertainment element, I've never seen any live music but they have several TVs. Not sure this would be my top choice to watch a game but it would work in a pinch if the other places were too busy or noisy.

I sat on the main level which had mostly booths (for 4 & 2 persons), half booths, bar seats, and a few tables. The interior was classy, but the ambiance was not. The mood was ruined by whiny acoustic music, probably picked by the staff and not for the customers. I can normally tune it out, but the uncharacteristic F*bombs coming from the speakers were a mood killer. And while waiting for my meal I heard the following exchange from the kitchen: "Your late!" "Are you going to fire me? Please send me home!" The hostile attitudes in the kitchen was unfortunately reflected in the meal. I ordered the fish and chips, and the fries were nicely cooked. The crust on the fish also looked good. But the fish inside was watery and unpleasant. It was also topped with a mass of cilantro sprigs, which did not pair with the flavors. I managed to scrape them all off. The fish was served with vinegar, ketchup, and (missing) tartar sauce. The friendly and attentive waitress was quick to correct the missing sauce, although it did take awhile. My meal also came with a side of slaw that would have been outstanding if the kitchen hadn't made a misstep of loading it with too much salt. The other seasonings in the slaw were excellent and unique and the addition of red onions was great, but sadly ruined by the saltiness. At the end of my meal I visited their modern and stylish restrooms. I'd arrived just after 5PM and on this weekday there were only a few patrons. So the stylish furnishing of the restroom were marred by the mess I encountered in there. Based on the number of employees compared to patrons, there wasn't an excuse for not cleaning that bathroom. I've seen truckstop restrooms that weren't that nasty.

It's by far the best! The two owners, Nick and Alison, are the reason for this. They have incredibly high standards and that's reflected in every dish - from the ingredients to the presentation. Every time, we get appetizers, entrees, and dessert (because it's all so delicious), and their cocktail menu just keeps getting better and better. It's been solid since our first visit, but over the past year they tripled the size and elevated the menu so much we think Antebellum now rivals the best cocktail spots in Atlanta! If you live in the area and haven't yet been, or if you're visiting, make a reservation - and be sure to order appetizers, mains, and dessert (and of course cocktails). There's no need to overthink what you order. Every dish and cocktail they serve is exceptional.
