I really give this place a 3.5 closer to 4! Parking SUCKS, but considering it's in midtown and the few spots it has, that's a win. It is right next door to breakfast klub so I've seen it get pretty packed. You can do a walk up to the side window for single slice pizza which I think is pretty cool but it still can take awhile. I love Midtown but it can always use more quick food options and pizza by the slice at Home Slice fits that bill nicely. We walked over after an early show at MATCH and this was an excellent option for myself and my two children. Better than average NY slices, that came out quickly. If you are looking for that pizza that is perfectly foldable but with a crust substantial enough to hold your toppings, this is it. There aren't a ton of frills on these pies, but that is ok. They are well-executed pizzas without all the flair of distraction so their quality can shine through. I have only had their pizza via delivery, so cannot comment on the location itself, but the pizza was still really good after not being eaten directly out of the oven, so that says something! read more

Had to stop in for a slice when I came downtown! This was my first time getting a slice instead of a full pizza. The flavors were still there but the crust wasn't as good as the freshly made pizzas. When you pick pizza from the window, it's already been made. They will take the slice you want and warm it up, I think in the pizza oven. It was still delicious, but the crust was a little more stale/crunchy than normal. I'll try another slice next time I come to see if it was a one time thing. 8/10 read more

Missed this place so much after enjoying it in Austin throughout college, and this was my 1st time at this location. They can accommodate half orders as long as the base is the same. I can't remember which ones anymore but there are 2 bases among the specialty pizzas. We got a large of the eggplant parm and sausage/ricotta. I was skeptical of the eggplant at first like how good could it be, but it truly blew me away: full of umami and as a usual meat lovers/supreme pizza fan, the texture was even reminiscent of typical pizza meat. This chain from Austin moved into Mid-Main about a year ago completely messing up the vibe of one of my favorite near town blocks. I wouldn't care so much if the pizza were better. You'd do better at either of the other two pizza-by-the-slice spots up main st downtown.. or the surprisingly good chain that recently moved into midtown that starts with the last letter of the alphabet. The margarita pizza had wayyy too much garlic and I love a good old garlic overload but this level is eye watering and I know ill smell it on my own breath for the next day and a half. Service way just fine. No complaints there. As a long time downtown Houston resident I've never been a fan of the "Austin" vibe. White, privileged, liberal, quirky.... I prefer my pizza place run by 30 related Albanians who just crank out the pies one by one. Keep your Austin out of my H-town. read more

Yummy Yummy! Great Pizza Joint. Very delicious pizza. I love it when I can taste a difference in the sauce. We enjoyed Pizza by Slice, Garlic Knots and salad. All of which were very good. Everything comes out piping hot with melted cheese just right. We got to enjoy being outside and had some Vino and my Cousin had her Beer. Definitely a huge plus to have alcohol. After grabbing some brews at Social Beer Garden HTX, I was looking for a quick dinner spot close by. I came across Home Slice Pizza on Yelp and made my way. Located in Midtown, Home Slice has a small parking lot which was full on a Friday evening. I found some street parking after circling around for a while and walked over. There was a decent line but it moved quickly. I ordered a slice of pepperoni, a slice of cheese, and a slice of Sicilian. Along with a soft drink. The problem with Home Slice is that the seating inside is highly limited. They have a nice patio but the weather was crummy when I was there so that wasn't an option. Since I couldn't find a spot indoors, I ended up eating my food in my cat. Home Slice is an Austin transplant that I tried many, many years ago. While I wasn't big on the Sicilian pizza, the cheese and pepperoni delivered. Good size for slices and always a plus that you can order by the slice. read more

Say I'm for my second visit and I was in lussttt. Let me tell you, this is such a great intimate seating arrangement. The booths are cozy and small, dimmed lighting. Great for holding hands or giving your date that love look into their eyes. No one around you cares what you're talking about which is always fun. Hopefully my 3rd time is a charm. I had lunch at Home Slice Pizza on a Monday. Parking was limited in front of the restaurant which is the only negative. Street and garage parking are options but not sure of prices. The staff were very courteous and helpful with taking my order. I had two slices of pizza that were excellent! One thin crust and one Sicilian. They were a lot of varieties of pizza slices to choose from as well as other foods. Really good pizza. The inside had seating and although it was way too hot large outside tables. I recommend trying this place for the pizza and I will certainly be going back in the future. read more

However, Houston lacks great pizza places so this is a decent option if you are nearby. Atmosphere is cool and the service is good. This is not a value option though. After falling in love with home slice in Austin i was thrilled to hear we were getting one in Houston. Overall i think this place has a few kinks to work out so i'll update my review if things improve. The layout of the place is a little confusing and there isn't a great place to wait and no clear organization of how/where to order. The inside doesn't have seating for groups larger than 2 so if you want to come with a larger group your only option is outside. The outside area is nice and spacious but definitely feels disconnected from the inside. The pizza is amazing, best NY style pizza in Houston and probably Texas. This is the closest thing to the town pizzerias when i lived in NY & NJ. Their garlic knots need a little work (too big, burnt garlic), and their antipasto wasn't the best. I'll optimistically assume the non-pizza items will improve with time. My recommendation: get whole pies to go and avoid the mayhem until the hype dies down a little. read more

I'm so glad Houston finally got a Home Slice Pizza! I loved going to the Austin locations. Something about their cheese is just so good. They're also very generous with the amount of toppings they put on the pizza too. I highly recommend ordering to-go just because there isn't a lot of parking or seating. My boyfriend and I ordered a large pizza with just pepperoni. It was so delicious, and it was enough to last us for a couple of days. We also tried the cannoli, which was really good too. A small size cannoli is honestly enough to fill 2 people. The pizza here just tastes to fresh and smells so amazing! Definitely now my favorite pizza joint in Houston. read more

I have been to the OG restaurant in Austin. I vaguely remember the Margarita pizza being better there. Not sure if it were a difference in the tomatoes used but this was a little watery. Nevertheless. This is probably the best (NYC style) pizza in Houston if not all of Texas. The pizza was good. The location isn't the best for sit down dining. It's more like grab a slice and go. Downfall was today where our pizza took over half hour to get. There was a printer down in the kitchen. And the order was thought to be to-go but it was for here. Idk I think it was just a case of growing pains. . Service was good because they saw their mistake and made it right with me the customer. I will preface this by saying I think they have some kinks to work out being so new, and I'll definitely be back in a few weeks to see if they've perfected their processes etc. Pizza is good of course, not the best I've ever had but very good - I especially like the White Pizza. Very limited seating. We were usually sat and ordered from a waiter when I've been with my friends to Home Slice in Austin, but this location is strictly order and find a table. There's only a few tables inside and I don't think any over a 4 top so you'll definitely be sitting outside if you come with a larger party. The line to order stays long especially around any conventional meal time. You order then wait to pick up your order and there's no real place to wait - most people wait outside the door causing a bottleneck at the door. You can also wait at your table if you've already found one and they usually shout when your pizza is ready. We got a pie vs slice which they warned us would be 45 minutes - no problem. But the garlic knots we ordered were supposed to be up in a "few minutes" and took 45 themselves. I don't think we would have gotten them had we not asked. And the pizza took closer to 90 minutes. read more

10/10 would recommend home slice!! We ordered a large mushroom white pizza and it was PERFECTION. the pizza was so well made and tasted fresh with high quality ingredients. The large size was truly large and my friend and I could only eat half of it (yay leftovers)!! The garlic knots were good for an app, but would probably skip next time and save space for the real star of the show - their pizza. The service here is amazing. The waiter came out twice because our pizza had apparently gotten messed up in the oven so they remade it and comped our meal for the long wait. They truly care about serving the best quality pizza and ensuring customers have a good experience. The ambiance was also great! They have an outdoor patio with cute hanging lights. Plenty of tables but I could see there being a wait once they fully open and people start coming here as their go-to pizza place. Parking is also tricky - they have a small lot with less than 10 spots. Street parking was also full. Would recommend just taking the metro rail if possible. I've been going to Home Slice in Austin for over a decade, so I was definitely excited when I saw they were opening up a location in Houston as well. The vibes here definitely have that Austin feel to it. The pizza is just as I remember! Reasonable prices for large slices with the best crunch. I highly recommend trying the White Clam Pizza. It is definitely a very unique dish, packed full of flavor. I had another fantastic experience at Home Slice! Pizza is always on point. Service is great. Can't ask for more! read more

What in the SAM HECK!? Decent NYC style pizza comes to Houston and it's from Austin! I guess I am not too surprised, the most recent/best HTX pizza spot (Cane Rosso RIP) was from Dallas. Just as delicious as its location in Austin! Great prices for large, delicious slices. I also love the texture, the crust has the perfect thickness and a great crunch. Margherita pizza: 5/5, Excellent, stupendous, my favorite pizza here. The cheese is amazing and the tomatoes and basil are so fresh. I loved this pizza so much that I forgot to take a picture of it! White pie with spinach: 4.5/5, a great white pie w a lot of garlic flavor. Pepperoni and mushrooms: 4/5, great but pepperoni is personally not my cup of tea. This pizza also feels the least unique out of the slices I got; feels like I could get this same slice at other pizza shops. Overall I'm so excited that Home Slice has opened a Houston location! Okok so maybe I need to give this place another go. Perhaps the hype surrounding it and the $6 price tag for a literal slice of pizza sat my expectations on a bit of a steep throne. I also have had wonderful pizza in the heart of New York and also Connecticut (tbh CT is my vote for most quality pizza slice in the USA as of 2022..) So firstly, the vibes here are IMMACULATE. Bathroom is clean :) Ok now the food- I got the margherita pizza slice! Great NY thinness and size but double- nay, triple The price point. Pretty tasty pizza, love the sauce (not heavy at ALL), the crisp was refreshing... but I kept finding myself pouring on some extra toppings to the pizza. Thought it needed more flavor for suuure. However, it wasn't bad at all- I'd still come back. I just was expecting a lot more and have had more flavor with other pizzas that left a bigger impression. Esp at price point. I'll update my rating based on a couple of reasons: 1. Better slice choices on the daily board. Finally, but I'm still upset that for slices, my choices are restricted. If speed & efficiency is the point, there's a better way to achieve desired results for both consumer & operator. 2. The music is way better, more diversified. That improves ambience IMO. 3. Still love those deuce coupe booths inside. The best spot in this joint. IMO, this is only a convenient neighborhood spot within walking distance. If I want better pizza, better quality slices can be had elsewhere, even within Midtown. read more
