The service was great also there is parking in the back. The food came out very hot. Tried the lamb stir fry and fish pot.

Started great, good interior design, and nice staff. Until...we finished our meal. Never in all my years have I been a part of such a strange and perturbing dining experience. One of my girlfriends and I wanted to try out a local business, and so we decided to stop in on a Monday, an hour and a half before closing time. We assumed this would be enough time to sit down, eat, and leave before they neared close. However...we were mistaken. We were seated, and waited on very quickly at the beginning. Then our food came out quickly as well. We ate for about 15-20 minutes, while our waitress scrolled on her phone in the corner. We were stuck in that establishment for another 20 minutes in COMPLETE SILENCE, as there were no other customers. We needed the waitress to close out our tab, but she was as unmoving as time itself. I don't think she would get up even if the building were on fire. We were in there for so long that the chefs came out to eat family meal. I have never been so embarrassed in my life... The food was good, but I can never come back from this experience. I think a part of my soul is trapped there, still waiting for the check. read more

Place was 2/3 full on an early Friday evening. I saw only one person not of East Asian extraction, which is a very good sign in any Asian restaurant, especially one outside of a known Asian enclave like Chinatown or Dorchester or Quincy. Food was about 8/10. We didn't try any of the true Sechuan dishes, so I couldn't tell you how "authentic" it is in the spice department. However, we did not regret coming here instead of braving the traffic and terrible parking situation in Chinatown on a Friday evening. Prices were about average: not great, not terrible. The two of us shared three dishes with a little bit taken home in a to-go container, for about seventy bucks with tip. Service was good even though our server's English was spotty at best, but she was prompt, energetic, and plenty friendly enough. They leave a tall pitcher of water at every table, which I wish every restaurant would do. It shows that they don't expect to make most of their money pushing overpriced soft drinks and crappy beer like many places. Ambiance is actually pretty good, though the tables were pushed closer together than I would've liked. This would not be a bad place to take a date. I saw a lot of young-ish couples, many of them sharing large pans of whole baked fish with veggies...will have to try that next time! read more

This replacement for Chili Garden is a minor step back. The taste was good. Spicy meatball, dandan noodles, eggplant is all I can recall. Service alright. Hygiene looks questionable though. read more

I was sorry to lose Chili Garden so glad a new Sichuan place moved in quickly. I ordered takeout. The Ma-Po Tofu with Minced Pork was good but under-seasoned compared to Chili Garden. It needed more of everything: chili, szechuan peppercorn--and it maybe didn't have any fermented black bean?  "Dry Cook Stringbeans" were also good but fell short of CG's. They seemed sautéed not dry cooked (which usually looks blistered) and very lightly seasoned. The Eggplant with Garlic Sauce was delicious and maybe a little better than CG's!  Overall I would happily order again but I hope they start adding more of the classic salty, spicy, and face-numbing flavors for this style of cooking.  I'll try the Maocai next. (Note that the one bad review with any detail that is up right now is from someone who ordered Orange Chicken. In my experience it's best to avoid the Americanized Chinese dishes at a Szechuan place.) read more

Love their authentic sichuan maocai. I'm from Sichuan and this dish definitely satisfy my monthly craving for something spicy and savory in red soup base, which is not just white/clear soup with a thin layer of chili oil on the top. Quail eggs and spicy beef are nice. Stem lettuce is a sweet surprise as it is a common vegetable at home but I don't usually see it here. read more

Formerly Chilli Garden. I went there because it seemed to be newly renovated. I entered the restaurant, but no one showed me around. After a while, someone sitting at a table spoke to me in Chinese. Knowing that I could not understand Chinese, he told me in English to sit wherever I wanted. The person who brought the menu was right there with the terminal, waiting for me to choose a dish. When I told him I needed more time, he sat down two seats away and started working on something. He did not respond when I put the menu down, so I approached him. The food was too salty and difficult to eat. I stopped eating and put down my chopsticks, but no one came over, so I called out to him again and offered him my credit card. He did not offer me a to-go container and I left. I will never go there again. read more

We were big fans of Chili Garden. The flavors alone were worth the trip. Since they closed and Bun's House opened in their place we decided to give it a try. We ordered take out and I was pleasantly surprised at how many tables were filled on a Thursday evening. Chili Garden never seemed that busy. But then we got our food home and honestly it was bland. We ordered the Orange Chicken, Hot and Sour soup, and the Meat & Three dumplings. Without much in the way of description, I didn't realize the dumpling was actually a Bao Bun. The Orange Chicken lacked flavor. The hot and sour soup offered very little flavor or heat. We may give it another try someday, but for now, we are just so disappointed Chili Garden closed. They seriously had the best season pallet for any Szechuan place we've found. Maybe Bun's House can ask for their recipes. read more

Tonight we ordered takeout and we're very disappointed. The Salt & Pepper Shrimp came with the shell on, we're not cleaned, we're cooked so much that the shell couldn't be separated from the shrimp meat and when we tried to separate it and clean the shrimp the shrimp was so dry it was inedible. Worst of all, part of the head was still on some of them. We tossed the entire dish into the compost. It was the worst dish we have ever purchased. We loved Chili Garden and were excited to see Bun's House open. We won't be back. read more
