I hired Hometech after a weather event. They 'canvassed' my street the day after the event and got many of us to use them. That said, I wish I had done my homework before hiring them. As others have stated, do not let them speak with your insurance company. Ask for an estimate but dont tell them how much you are getting. They will hound you for every insurance dollar without providing any justification or proof of their cost. Their owner (Katy) is not very professional (at least in my case, would only reply via emails. She would not talk to me over the phone) and when asked to provide proof of cost or scope of work, would delay, delay, delay until they did the work and then told me that I owed them. Although, our house turned out OK, i would not recommend them to my worst enemy. I would also caution anyone that doesnt have a support network who you can run things by, to shop around and be comfortable with who you work with. I had the support of my family, but without them, i could have been out thousands of OOP dollars. They also threatened to take me to court if i didn't hand over EVERY insurance dollar. I had my insurance company write them an email stating that certain checks were meant for the policy owner only and not the contractor and they still claimed i had to hand over the check. Do not let them speak to the insurance company on your behalf. Do not let them know how much your payout will be. Instead have them quote you for the job, and you handle the finances. This is where I went wrong, once they knew how much money the settlement was, they knew exactly what figures they were going to fill in on the invoice in order to receive the entire settlement. They tried to use lower quality roofing shingles initially. It took a while to get them to use GAF shingles, which wasn't even offered. They will try to maximize profits by utilizing lower tier options than the industry's top tier brands. I was told they had a set number of roofing crews who actually work for the company, they don't. They subcontract labor out assuming from the conversation I had with one of the receptionist. When accessories go missing from your roof, they don't take responsibility. They cant go after the laborers, so they say, you signed the completion paperwork, tough luck. They did not even want to LISTEN to my proposition to come to a compromise with me after their roofing crew lost my sprinkler sensor, which I have photographic and video evidence that it was installed before they began, then wasn't during and post roofing job. Trying to communicate with them is a nightmare. They do not like speaking to you when there are concerns, other than to work money out of you. One day I came home to find my gutters being torn apart. There was no timeline communicated as to when the gutters would be worked on. You can imagine my horror to come home from work with two laborers in my yard with my gutters ripped off the house. We had not discussed the gutters in detail, other than I would be able to get new ones. What was infuriating was the fact all they said was "HEY CALL THE OFFICE." "HEY CALL THE OFFICE." You're right, I cant get mad at these guys, they wouldn't have a clue what I was saying or was angry about. I called the office, to which no one replied. No one at the company would accept responsibility. My representative (brandon) blamed Katie, Julie sweet talks people into thinking things would be taken care of, and Katie said it was Brandon who failed to communicate. Its a nightmare of blame shifting when ultimately the company itself was to blame. Eventually, my representative Brandon, just stopped replying to me all together. Why else would he need to continue talking to the customer he just sold a whole new roof to right? Watch how you do business with these people. There are many other choices for roofers out there. Don't go for the first company who knock on your door after a big storm like I did. They get two stars total for teaching me a very valuable lesson. Some of my greatest fears are 2 things now: 1. These guys came to my house because they were "doing work in the area" and asked if i wanted a free estimate; said I could potentially get a free new roof with my insurance. I had never heard of them so I said I wanted to think about it and they said that was fine. They asked if they could call me to follow up later and I said that was fine and gave them my number. About an hour later another dude from the same company showed up at my house without any call or notice and was kind of pushy about checking out the roof even when i said i had no idea someone was coming and i was told i would recieve a phone call. He said he was going to just check out the roof for me and it wouldn't take long so i just agreed which i really shouldn't have. It was my fault for not being more assertive for sure. About 20 min later he tells me his boss is the "metal expert" and he would be here in 30 min to take a look. I told him even if they did get insurance to cover a new roof i had 1. Not had any issues with my roof yet and 2. I didn't have the money for the deductible right now. I said these things to try to deter him but again he wad kinda pushy so I just let it go. Got my neighbor to get rid of them for me. I really didn't like how pushy they are and would for sure never call them just based on the fact that they showed up at my place a second time in the same day without any call. read more

I've worked with lots of builders and contractors. Home Tech is a gem in an industry where you can get easily taken advantage of. I have just enough construction knowledge to make me dangerous, so I went for it and started the interview process for a contractor to repair my roof (from shoddy new construction using builder-grade materials). From the very first call and the inspection by my project manager, Isaiah, I felt at ease. His assessment was thorough (problem: cheap, weather-torn shingles and broken seal around roof pipes caused leaking in my top floor bedroom). His pics were so good that my insurance adjuster had no need to send their inspector out. They immediately offered me the money for a band-aid repair, but HomeTech went to bat for me, showing plenty of pics to prove to the insurance company that a whole new roof was needed. Altho it took a few months (shingle samples sent out to a lab for testing), it passed the required brittle test. The roof crew were on time and professional. And their in-sync work ethic was amazing as I got my new architectural roof installed in less than 5 hours under Isaiah's scrutiny and final inspection! Now for the interior work: Bayardo, the home interior mgr, was amazing at assessing my ceiling damage from the roof leak and some non-claim-related leaky drain damage. His demeanor was professional as well. And his crewman, Klaybin, did an amazing job at re-drywalling all damaged areas and topping it off with a clean and smooth paint job- can't even tell there was damage! To say this company was professional is not enough... They took great care to hear my concerns (trust me, I'm an interior designer, and I'm PICKY!) and their work ethic was as good as Home Tech's promise. And did I mention Ms. Marcy? She was the "glue" that held the whole project together--- communicating with tact and concern--- and making all the paperwork and scheduling a breeze. My house feels like "home" again! They have worked out with my insurance to cover all the damages from hailstones. Had siding on my house flapping away from a wind storm and not even realizing I had damage to my roof. After many calls asking my brother to come over and fix the siding, I gave a call to Home Tech Exterior. That day, a rep (Jimmy C) came out to look at my roof/siding. THAT DAY!! He was extremely professional and hopped up on the ladder to check out my roof. After a little time, he came down and informed me of wind/hail damage to my roof. He suggested I call my insurance company. I hadn't even thought of that!!!! So I did, low and behold, my insurance said they would send out a rep to examine the damages. A few days later, my insurance rep came out and Jimmy came rushing over. He and the examiner looked in great detail at the roof. Then, about a week or so later (some issues w the weather) Home Tech Exterior dropped off the supplies and started on my roof and WALAH! I have a beautiful new roof and siding! The employees handling the roof were professional as well, showed up at 7 am and provided me with a sturdy gorgeous new roof and siding. Stay away from this company! My insurance company paid them over $20,000 dollars to replace the whole roof for my rental property in 2017. There was a severe water leak soon after the job was done and they came back to fix it. Less than a year later, there is a small leak into front entrance ceiling. The old roof was more than 25 years old , but there is no such leak before the new roof is installed. I called them several times and they finally sent out an inspector. He said there were some leaves there, we just need to clean the leaves. So we did. And I fixed the damaged ceiling myself. And the ceiling start to crack again later due to water leak, but the tenant didn't mention it until a few months ago. I hired a roofer to check, he said the roof will leak from edge when there is heavy rain because they didn't install the flashings. So I called Hometech again. After a few weeks' calling and waiting, they sent out an inspector(by the way, the roof comes with a Lifetime warranty), and took some pictures. A few weeks later, they sent me an email and told me that it's the downspout that caused the leak, I need to pay them to redo the downspout because downspout was not covered by the insurance claim. Clearly they won't tell the truth because They simply don't want to honor their so-called warranty! read more

Had serious hail damage to our home and were frantic to get SOMETHING done to stop the water damage caused by the torrential downpours we had a few weeks ago. My husband began asking around for a quality roofer and good friends of us recommended Home Tech after they used their services for the summer home in Deep Creek, MD. They came out literally at 11pm to tarp the roof and made sure to mitigate the damages as soon as possible so that we could get the repairs started. I would not recommend this company. We had aluminum siding and they said they don't make it anymore and convinced us to go with vinyl siding. They said it's better. Later I found out that that is not true. Their motivation might have been that aluminum siding is more expensive and they could get more profit if we went with vinyl since insurance was covering the replacement - I don't know why they lied to us. I had an absolutely horrible experience with this company and wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemies. They showed up with materials that weren't the materials that were discussed during the estimate or listed on the contract. When this was questioned the crew that was in the process of tearing off the roof eluded to being a different company than the one I hired, aka a sub-contractor. And finally when I called Home Tech to complain about these things they swore at me and hung up. Now they are harassing me about writing a bad review rather than addressing the issues. In the hierarchy of contractors roofing contractors are pretty low and this company falls at the bottom of that list. I suggest using basically anyone else. And make sure no matter who you hire that the contract states that the work will not be sub-contracted. read more

They traveled out of town to replace our roof when it got damaged. Quick service, was done in one day! Reasonbly priced. Very satisfied.

If I could give a 0 star I would. I sustained roof damage in January 2016 and this company replaced the roof. From the street view the job appeared to be completed properly. However, with the next major rain I sustained leaking in my living area. After much pleading they sent a representative to evaluate the problem. They acknowledged the problem that an area was not done thoroughly on the replacement roof and needed to be redone. That follow up was resolved fairly quickly, However, to date as of December 2016 they have failed to do the repairs to my ceiling( rain damage) that was caused by their initial shoddy work. Though I have been patient throughout the entire year, one of their sales rep named Jonathan actually told me they have done nothing wrong contractually and they cannot do repairs according to my schedule and I should file necessary complaints. Keep in mind, 3 seasons have passed since they destroyed my ceiling and no one has called, responded or done anything to rectify their omission of initial quality work which lead to the damage in my home. I assure you it did not take them 10 months to get payment from the insurance co of over $19,000 for the roof yet they feel no obligation to right their wrong! No customer should have to endure this. As I go through additional channels to legally hold them accountable I wanted others to know NOT to trust these people. They make promises and renege and then blame the customer. One would think a reputable, upstanding and trustworthy business would just do the right thing, admit your fault, do the repairs in a timely manner and build reliable and honorable relationships within the community. I will update the final outcome but PLEASE look elsewhere for roofing needs. Put this on a list of CON ARTIST, fast talkers and unprofessional behavior with no accountability.
