SCAM ALERT. i was told it was $99 for him to come out. They did NOT say it was $99 for first 15 minutes and then $35 each additional 15 minutes. That's $204 for the first hour and $140 for each additional hour. Our refrigerator just was not very cold. He spent first 10 minutes putting the serial number in his tablet to tell me it was 6 years old. Then said it would be $200-$300 just to tell me what was wrong. I sent him to the door. Spent $344 with Home-Teck to repair a refrigerator capacitor and service plan. Then after 10 days stopped getting cold again they came back and told me it was the compressor and it would cost $1,100 to replace the compressor. I checked online and a compressor for that model was $155. A new similar new model refrigerator cost under $1200 at Lowes. I canceled my contract after reading all the reviews on Yelp and received nothing back. So I spent $344 on a worthless refrigerator. IMO they never repaired the refrigerator properly because since new the compressor was loud and after their repair it was quiet. read more

Visit after visit - my response is still... WHAT WOULD WE DO WITHOUT HOME-TECH? We have an English Bulldog and air conditioning during the summer months is a NEED to have, not a nice to have for him. Our AC unit is about 10 years old, and instead of recommending we buy a new one, they are still coming out to service our unit. We do have a service agreement on all appliances in our home with them, but air is the only we've needed to call on. Three years later, we are still VERY happy Home-Tech customers. i had a very bad experience with hometech company after pay 442.39 they did not fix my water dispenser and they ask me for another 200.00 some dollars to fix it. and saying i need a new water line is true i need new one because they mass up the water line i never had a leak and when they came a first time they didn't complain about the water line otherwise they will bring one with them . imagine pay around 700 dollars to fix a water dispenser . of course i have to call another company that's the only way i can get my water dispenser working again watch out guys read more

This was a very bad experience w/ Home-Tec Bonita Springs, FL. I called for a broken switch repair on my 3 year old dyer. They did not want to repair the switch but wanted to sell me a new one! I said, no I want it repaired if for no other reason than I had a new floor and did not want it potentially damaged, not to mention the cost difference. They said the repair would be $150 for the part and would be in in 3 business days or less, this was on top of the $175.00 house call (THEY PUT THIS IN WRITING) and then they took another $100 deposit to assure that I would not cancel the parts order. They said they would order the part right away which they did not do, late the next day a very rude woman called and said that the part would cost $200 more than they had estimated, at that point my dryer was taken apart so I said to go ahead under duress. I called day after day and Twelve days later, I still had no dryer! Beware, this firm is a perfect example of a bate and switch scheme. I finally got my dryer repaired after lots of inconvenience to me and calls to them. I would never use them again. VERY DISAPPOINTED! NOT customer driven! Had to have my frontload washer serviced one week ago. Tech showed up 1/2 hour later than given window. NO APOLOGY! Spent almost 45 minutes at my home, only to tell me that it was in my best interest to purchase a new washer, as the repair could have been one of a few possibilities. He then tried to sell me warranty service and told me that his company sells new appliances and he could get me the info. All this for $173 and spending less than 20 minutes looking at my washer and the rest of the time in conversation. When I called to complain, not one person returned my message. Pitiful! We have had a service agreement for 22 years but would like to switch because their service is now marginal. Service used to be good, but many of the service techs now appear less competent. Moreover if service parts are costly, or even worse no longer available, HomeTech will simply decline service and provide no credit or compensation. The service manager in one instance delayed needed repairs to a defective air handler (purchased a few years earlier from Home Tech) for six months, and in another case simply declined to service a perfectly fine older heat pump that the company repeatedly had asserted was covered. Home Tech simply maintains the option to refuse repair or replacement of your appliance, and they do not even provide a credit for the repair cost! Caveat emptor. read more

I have used Home Tech for many years, however, I recently took over my Mom's finances and she had been using Home Tech for years also. I noticed that my renewal agreement was $200.00 more than my Mom's. In trying to find out the reason as to the difference, I was told that my A/C was older than hers. My Mom did in fact get a new A/C unit last year, however, the amount of her contract the year prior was still cheaper than mine. My Mom's condo is on the 2nd floor and her appliances practically belong in a museum! Her A/C unit prior to being replaced, was actually 20 years + old and still running. The contracts are exactly the same coverage. I am still waiting for some 'manager' to call me back to justify the difference. I have been trying for the past four weeks to do this. I was passed onto Maggie, who took 2 weeks to call me back after she initially called me and her customer service skills, excuses and reasoning was insulting. So, it seems that Home Tech just pick $ amounts of their contracts without any rhyme or reason. My renewal was quote at $719.00 - how can they justify that when my appliances and A/C unit are only a few years old? We are never likely to spend this amount in a year ! read more

Service with a smile! Drove 45 mins to showroom and spoke with the head of service. We were impressed. All I wanted was a fridge with ice and water that is dispensed on the outside of the door from a company company which stood behind its product. We were guaranteed that. HOWEVER, we did not mention we wanted cold water. We live in Florida. Water the temperature of spit is not too attractive. We got a service tech to come out, who called his boss, the same man we had spoken with in person. who, incidentally has the same model we bought from him. I've been a customer for about 10 years and all of a sudden service appears to be going downhill. Last year I was without an ice maker in my fridge for over 3 weeks. This year I am without a microwave for 2 weeks and counting. I have to seriously re-consider renewing my 2 contracts in December. It seems that are just ordering parts that they think will fix the problem instead of ordering all the affecteed parts and retuning what is not needed. Maximum customer inconvenience seems to be the rule today. In the past everything was fixed in 1 or 2 trips depending on parts in the truck. I was watching a condo for a snow bird friend and I discovered water on the kitchen floor under the fridge. We called home tech and the next morning they were there at 8 AM sharp. The tech Nick was terrific. He figured out the issue within minutes and had the leak fixed in no time. Nick knew his business and was very good and professional. They gave me a quote of $131 to fix an old dryer. It just needed a belt. They didn't have the belt so they ordered it. Not my fault.... I was up North or I would have fixed it myself. They charged me for a service call $99 said I wouldn't be charged again for that. But when they returned they did $131 I ended up paying $230 to fix a $18 belt on a 12 y/o dryer. I had Home Tech come out and check a thermostat that was not working that they installed. This was the second time this Thermostat had stopped working. The first time it was under warranty and we had the service contract with them and there was no charge. We had really poor service with them though there service contract and decided not to renew it. The Thermostat went bad again but was still under warranty. They charged us $99.00 service call and $122.00 for a temporary one till they could get a new one for us under the warranty. They than called us back that our thermostat had come in but wanted an additional $53.00 to install it and that we would only get $87.00 credit for the thermostat that the balance was labor of the $122.00 they had charged us already. So they misled us and the result is we have a Thermostat that we never wanted thinking it was just tempory that cost us $221.00, and if we followed thought with what they wanted we would have paid $274.00 for a Thermostat to be replaced that was under warranty. I called Home Tech as I found them on Google when looking for dryer repair. I was told the $99 service call fee would be waived if I did the "service contract". This is very misleading. Come to find out that "service contract" means their appliance maintenance plan(over $300/year) . I never was looking for that, I wanted my dryer fixed. I had to pay the $99 and then the quote to fix the dryer was $230. So $330 total for a dryer repair. Needless to say, we didn't do the repair with them. What a waster of $99. I called to speak to someone about a refund and waited 10 days, no call back. I finally called again and was told I was not getting the $99 fee back. Most honest companies will waive the fee if you do the repair. Read the fine print with this one. Never again. Use your local handyman and keep your money in someone else's pocket. read more

Just had a home tech repair done on my 2 year old Kitchen aid dishwasher. Tech diagnosed a bad pump with never taking apart any part of dishwasher. This was a 6PM service call and tech was here for 25 minutes for a total bill of 134.00. I was ok with this but had my concerns being only 2 years old. Went to Lowes and the appliance guy let me know the chances of my motor being bad were remote and told me to run 2 cups of vinegar through it at the high temp setting. I did this and it works like new. Home Tech says they will not refund me anything and I expressed my dissatisfaction. On 5/9/19 a Home Tech serviceman inspected my 14 mo. old($540-new) Kenmore washer that had stopped working. His diagnostics( cost $99 trip charge) indicated that I would need a new door and motherboard with an estimate to repair of $ 500.( pretty excessive for a washer I had paid $540). Not knowing better I reluctantly agreed to proceed and wait for the parts come in. On 5/22 serviceman returned and repaired my washer. My brother in law from Texas was visiting me during this repair. He was concerned with cost to repair a $540 relatively new washer and asked the serviceman to break down his hand written invoice of $ 647.46 by parts and labor. He asked him to show and leave him the parts that were replaced and and to give him a breakdown on the labor. He told me that this reasonable request would require office approval. He spoke with Ryan in the Fort Meyers office and was told the estimate on 5/9 was really a flat rate quote for parts only($ 500) and that the additional charge for labor ($147.41) was understood.I found his position justifying a complete charge of $746.41( 5/9 plus 5/22) for a 14 mo. old ($540 new) washer totally ridiculous!! The serviceman left the replaced part with me. Boy were my suspicions justified ! I checked out the cost of the part online- a latch that cost $ 50.11- not the motherboard and new door on the original estimate. I was completely deceived at best and criminally robbed at worse!! What legitimately should have been a $ 150-250 total charge cost me $746.41. I am demanding an apology and a refund of at least $ 500. In the meanwhile I will advise as many consumer advocates as possible of this serious breach of business ethics until this matter is resolved. So far- SO good! My parents have had a home tech warranty for many years and highly recommended we get one when we bought our new house earlier this year. Thankfully, the previous homeowners already had home tech as well, so we took over the remaining portion of theirs, then renewed in August. Sure, it's about $500 annually to cover everything, but it's totally worth it to me when you consider how quickly service calls and repairs could add up. Immediately after we moved in our AC fan motor went out, they were out to fix in within the day! Next, a fridge part, they again were out to fix it within the day! Most recently a dishwasher part, the repair man was out to get it checked within a day, had to order a part then came back within 2 days with the new part. All employees have been more than professional and nice! I recommend having home tech to all homeowners I speak with. read more

My home's air-conditioning unit was working fine, but I wanted a more efficient unit. Home Tech recommended and sold me a Trane unit. Unfortunately, my house frequently heats up because the drain lines clog up causing the unit to shut down and/or flood and damage my ceiling. Home Tech acknowledges that a problem exists and this is not an ideal situation Solutions offered by Home Tech are: * wait for the air-conditioner to stop working and then wait for a repairman to fix it * schedule frequent inspections far beyond what was needed for my old air conditioner. Conveniently for Home Tech, these added visits are not covered by the normal contract and have added cost for me. * contact Trane to request a fix for my unit. I thought that finding the fix should be the responsibility of the service company. Evidently, Home Tech thinks that it is the client's responsibility. Does Home Tech really think that a customer will understand a recommendation from Trane? Consider a scenario where you have a new car that is under warranty and without warning breaks down. Then the dealer advises you to: * wait for the car to break down, then call for a tow truck to take the car to a dealer, who cannot fix it. * schedule periodic inspections which will get low priority because they are not yet a problem * contact the manufacturer to research a fix Where these two conditions are different is that the customer paid a hefty fee for service from Home Tech for the air conditioning unit. read more

Our refrigerator waspurchased from Home Tech and out of warranty. The door was sagging. Home Tech came out, charged us $99 for service call with an estimate of $340 to replace the hinges. Two days later I got a call from Home Tech thatthe estimate was over $800 and we needed to pay it. When I called Home Tech to speak with the person who called me she was not available.. The person who answered the phone said the estimate was $640. Why the change? When I spoke to Bosch about the situation, Bosch said they would cover parts and labor. When Bosch called Home Tech to do the work, Home Tech said they only do warranty work. Why did they come out in the first place?????? I spoke to the Home Tech manager who said he didn't know whyHome Tech would say that, that he would look into it and get back to me. That was weeks ago and he has not! Shady business practices: Home-Tech, Totally took advantage of my 95 year old mother I write this because I really believe that Home-Tech ripped off my 95 year old mother. Their unfair and shady business practices show their real character and what they think about their customers. My mom who has actually been a long term customer of Home-Tech and has done business with them for many years. She recently needed a new home air conditioner and purchased it from the people who she had been doing business with over many years, Home-Tech. After a year and a half the air conditioner broke down. Of course right after the warranty ran out. Well OK, parts are covered, we just have to pay the labor to replace the MAJOR COMPONANTS (Blower motor and Module) of her air handler, the part of the unit that is in the attic. Here is where the shady part comes into play. Their first trip was to diagnose the problem and they charged her by charging her a trip charge, $159.00 and then so much, $35 for every 15 minutes thereafter. Again OK it was after hours and it is the middle of July (2017) but it still wound up being $194.00 to tell her that they sold her something defective. They spent a total of 35 minutes at her house FOR $195.00. That includes arriving, set up, diagnosis, and paperwork and clean up, everything 35 minutes, $195.00. Pretty high but OK. Now that they know what's wrong they say it was going to be another $389.00 to replace the defective blower motor and the module. So that was kinda of a hard pill to swallow considering of the age of the unit, but it was the middle of July and my 95 year old mother needed air condition. So OK (again) go ahead. I thought it was an obscenely high price and said so. She asked to make sure she was only paying the labor portion and not parts because it was so high. We talked and I picture the tech coming to her home and having to work in the furnace of the attic, struggling to replace the motor. With their service rates are $159.00 trip charge and $35.00 for every fifteen minutes thereafter. I figure the price is so high because he is going to have to spend a couple of hours up there. BOY WAS I WRONG!! He spent just 10 minutes repairing her unit and 20 minutes on everything else (set up, clean up and paperwork) so $389.00 for 30 minutes!!! I thought what the heck is going on here. So I called. I was not able talk to anybody but I was able to leave a message for the Service Manager, Ryan Thibaudeau and waited for a call back. Well no call back that day so I decided to go by the office to discuss my concerns. I was able to speak to Ryan and he apologized that he was too busy to call me back but we could talk about my concerns. I asked for his help in understanding the charges and maybe some assistance for my 95 year old mother who has been a long term customer of theirs. We spoke about what happened and all of a sudden it changed from hourly rates to a Flat Rate to change the parts. That was the first time anybody said anything about the change of rate from trip/hourly to flat rate. Really $389.00 for 30 minutes of work. Well not really, again we need to talk about set up, clean up and paperwork. My mother said he was in the attic for less than 10 minutes. If someone, anyone had said it was a flat rate charge of $389.00 for the work I would have defiantly shopped that price. It sounds like they are charging me for the parts too. He said he could not do anything for me but he would talk to his manager and call me back the following day with their decision about my request for assistance. So I waited for Ryan to call back. The next day goes by and I guess Ryan is too busy to call me back again. At the end of the next day Ryan called me back and said he had talked to Tom Rohde the General Manager and they decided that there was nothing they would do about their charges and that the charges would stand. I told him I was unhappy and that I was not going to be silent about this and his response was to tell me that the President of Home-Tech thinks they did not charge her enough... What? Really? Didn't charge her enough? What kind of business are they running here? I dare say if they would do that type of business practice to my 95 year old mother, they are doing it to others too. Buyer Beware!! Home-Tech is Shady and should not be trusted. Shame on you Home-Tech. Hometech is essentially a scam. We purchased a service contract 2 years ago. Within 3 months we had an issue with our AC unit. They came out and said it was a drain but that wasn't covered by the contract, so we paid and they said it was fixed... This same problem reoccurred 4 times over the next year. Finally at the end of last summer they came out and it stopped freezing up. However, last month the wall downstairs under the air handler started to bubble and water began leaking through. We called Hometech and they sent a technician out who said, the drain float had just been adjusted all the way up so it wouldn't freeze but that's what caused the spillover into the wall. He took pictures of the damage and told us "Chuck" would be in contact. Soon a field supervisor came out and said they didn't think they would fix the damage. I called a contractor who came out and said, given the amount of water, the unit had been leaking for over a year. We spent 2 weeks trying to get in touch with Chuck... Finally someone who sounded like an eighth grade dropout left a message on my wife's phone with statements like "we ain't responsible" and "not gonna fix it". If you go to their Facebook page, you can see how many people have had similar experiences.... Seems to be quite a few here on Yelp as well. I'm thinking there's probably enough people to consider a class action suit or merely to put our stories on every form of social media until these scammers are out of business. If you are looking at HomeTech as a possible service providers, I suggest you look at the responses to these reviews... Constantly pretending to care and address issues (when they can't find a loophole in the contract to blame), yet the same types of comments keep appearing. Calling to talk to them is pointless... you get the run-around for weeks and when you finally do hear back it's someone who sounds more like Bubba the ditch digger than a customer service representative. read more

They told me it would cost $99 for the visit plus parts should i do the repair. When the technician arrived he informed me that the fee is $99 for 15 minutes and $35 for every 15 minutes after plus the cost of the repair. This is the worst experience ever, they came out to do their checklist including cleaning the coils checking air pressure temperature etc. I never dealt with them before so I watched the 2 gentleman do their work. I know quite a bit about air-conditioning he was done with the unit within 10 minutes then spent about 10 minutes wiping down the unit. He gave me his checklist and he went and sat in the van. I watched him do all his work and he did less than half of the items that he checked off on his checklist? I was blown away that he charged for work he did not do.
