Beautiful restaurant and bar area. I had attended a work shop here previously and saw the food which looked very tasty. If you are looking for old school bar food then look no further. Let me say bottom line everything was fine, but nothing was show stopping. I went with my partner in crumbs who we like to split food and we were excited to order the jackson and the chicken chilies sandwich. I find it hard to believe this was the same Jackson experience that Guy Fieri had. It was tasty but the bread to topping/au jus ratio was an after thought and with limited toppings the sandwich seemed small. The server recommended the mac and cheese and it was good but felt like a ready made. The chicken sandwich again it was fine super thin chicken with limited toppings. Saw online they had a great sour beer from Southern Grist on tap. After ordering, I noticed it was $14! That's quite a steep mark-up! I've never ordered a pint of beer at that outrageous price. Granted, it was my fault I didn't look at the price prior, but...wow. Had it been priced better, I'd sit there until the keg ran out it was so good! WONDERFUL food. Would 1000% recommend getting the buffalo chicken dip if you go. My family complained about the pickles a bit saying they "weren't pickley enough" and " the taste more like cucumbers than pickles", but I don't like pickles so this didn't matter to me whatsoever. Service was great, but getting a table was kind of strange. Basically you just go in find a table yourself and a server will come to you to take your order although there are no signs saying anything about this so it was pretty confusing. This was an ill conceived attempt at a sauce. Liquid smoke and ketchup isn't bbq sauce. The bacon was chewy but not inedible. The bbq was served cold, much like our server's attitude when I asked why I could just get a hamburger. She seemed offended at my question. However, the food was really mediocre for me--though the rest of my group seemed to enjoy their meals--and the service for drink refills was slow. I'm from the Chicago and Milwaukee area. Moved here a week ago, and thus far, the Donelson food scene still disappoints. $16 for a green chili chicken sandwich- thought it seemed interesting- the 'green chili' must've been mashed or mixed in with the mayo- couldn't get a note of it at all (why name a sandwich that if it's not palatable or not a prominent flavor) with what seemed to be a frozen chicken breast smushed down to patty size, 'kettle chips' that were stale and seemed as if bought at Kroger. I got a Barrique sour beer (I only usually get a beer out if it seems unique, which it was), which tasted like a sour green olive- also $16, another entree cost for what is about $9 on the brewery's website website (I understand markup, but that's utterly a ripoff). The staff was nice, but because of the lack of flavor, taste, and value, I won't return. Ordered as a last-minute option, I'd rather go to Papa John's across the street. read more

Our server was super nice and spent some time with us sharing the history of the place. I thought it was a new place but found out it has been around for over 7 years. First time here was underwhelming. First off they have a fantastic beer menu, the only place where I have been able to find more than 1 IPA since being in Nashville. I got a flight and it was really fun that they put it on a paper, where you fill out how much you would rate the beer. Fun experience for sure. The broccoli salad was incredible! So flavorful and delicious. I was blown away, I have never tasted anything like it before. I would definitely recommend this if you're a broccoli lover. The potato salad was also very good! A downside was the entrees, they were very basic. There was nothing special about the sandwiches, you could easily make these at home. The turkey in the turkey sandwich was very hard and difficult to bite. I also wasn't a fan of the tomato jam they added. My friend got the Italian sub which she also stated she could of easily made at home. We both also agreed they would both be better if they were cold sandwiches rather than hot. The chips were good but bland, they should offer more flavors. The pickle that came with our meals threw us off, it had a very weird taste. Turns out they make it themselves and it had only been pickling for a day. The portions we also both thought, were very small. Overall, this place has a great beer menu and has great service. We visited on a Friday evening and didn't realize the kitchen closes at 10pm. We had a good 30 min to order food. Normally, I would not visit a place that close to the kitchen closing, but there we were. We chose a table and were greeted by a waitress in less than 4 min. The location sits in a corner strip, so it's easy to miss. We ordered the jalapeño poppers (which takes 20min to cook) and some IPAs. The drink selection is phenomenal. For our meals, we ordered a grilled cheese with avocado, tomato basil bisque, and a black bean burger with Mac & cheese. The bisque came out and I immediately knew something was wrong. Usually, you can smell the basil coming from these type of bisques but nope--this was cold and had a sweet flavor. When the waitress came with our IPAs, I told her it was cold and she said they didn't have a microwave. Ok? She said she will try to get it warmed or get a new one. Ok? The grilled cheese and black bean burger came out and again, bad vibes. As soon as I picked up my sandwich, there was little to no heat. I bit into it and was grossed out. The avocado was blackened and the tomato tasted old. My partner's black bean burger was a mess, but edible at best. I told the server that my sandwich was cold when she bought back my bisque and, she said that it was strange since they just made it. Ok? It was removed from my check. The jalapeño poppers finally came and they were ok. The atmosphere is clean and friendly, but for $50, I left with an upset stomach and a bad taste in my mouth. read more

It is a seat yourself type space. They could do better to announce that but the staff helped when I asked do you seat yourself. I sat at the bar. Not super busy but the bartender/server Sonja was helpful and attentive once I got settled. I asked her advice on a Hefeweizen and she gave me three options to try. I liked them all but went with the Yazoo Hefeweizen. I ordered the Meatloaf and Mash their soup of the day beef stew. Sonja did not hear me on the beef stew so when she brought out the meatloaf first and I said, she comped me the beef stew. The beef stew was good the meatloaf and mash was excellent. Mid food, service ignored us because we were "high maintenance". No care and lack of service in the food. Didn't notify last call, no salt/pepper on tables, no one to be found.
