Pappas in Cockeysville came up in a couple of influencers' lists, so we made the 1 1/2 hour drive north to experience it for ourselves. We arrived at 11:30 on a Sunday morning and chose to sit on the restaurant side (versus the sports bar side). Our meal started with soft rolls right out of the oven and vinegar-y cucumbers. My wife had some them while I passed on them for I don't like cucumbers. Obviously, we later ordered the single crab cake entree with two sides ($33.99). I chose the fries and the up-charge for a Caesar salad while my wife picked the coleslaw and mashed potatoes. The crab cakes did not disappoint! Even though it was a hot day outside, they kept the restaurant very cold. After we ate, I didn't notice it as much because I was so full. A final note is the lunch crowd started coming in around 12:15pm.

Shoutout to bartender Andre who was great. It's a small homey dive bar attached to Magooby's joke house, ample parking in the open lot. The kitchen needs improvement- ordered a salad with grilled chicken, came out without the grilled cjicken- apparently they forgot to communicate to bartender that they were making a fresh batch so it would come out later. Then partway through eating my salad, found one of those plastic square things (used to close a bread bag) in it. Bartender had it sent back, watched them remake a new salad, and they comped my tab that night for the mishaps, which was nice of them. The newly made salad did taste pretty good. Also a plus that they have henny at the bar.

Just when I was ready to question my phone's navigation , BlueStone appeared like a hidden gem. The restaurant was large and looked upscale from the outside with plenty of free parking, making the first impression even better. We were seated immediately, and the hostess greeted us with a genuine smile that made us feel right at home. The ambiance is warm and inviting with a perfect blend of casual elegance. There are several dining spaces throughout the restaurant, including private rooms that would be ideal for birthdays, rehearsal dinners, or other special occasions. Our server was attentive without hovering and gave us plenty of time to enjoy our evening. We kicked things off with cocktails, including a French 75, White Cosmo, and Blackberry Bandit. Every drink was expertly crafted, but the French 75 was the undeniable star of the night, I enjoyed it so much I ordered a second. When it came to dinner, my friends all chose the crab cake entrée and they all enjoyed their food ( they are locals), proving that Bluestone knows exactly what they are doing when it comes to a well made crab cake. I ordered the Ocean & Gulf entrée. My dish included a jumbo lump crab cake, deep-sea scallops, and Gulf shrimp served over forbidden black rice with sautéed vegetables in a honey garlic beurre blanc. Every component was cooked perfectly, and the flavors blended together so well that each bite felt like a little celebration. It was one of those meals where the conversation pauses because everyone is too busy enjoying the food. As if dinner wasn't enough, we finished with Taharka Brothers Honey Graham and Vanilla Bean ice cream. It was creamy, rich, and the perfect ending to an already fantastic meal. BlueStone exceeded my expectations from the moment I pulled into the parking lot until the last spoonful of dessert. Great service, good prices, decent portions and expertly prepared food and cocktails. Definitely an atmosphere that's perfect for everything from date night, a family celebration, to a girls' night out.
