Fei's Cafe is tucked in the north corner of the strip mall in the southeast quadrant of Candelaria and Eubank. I love sushi, and I saw a sign of 50% off on rolls. We went in on at Saturday when it opened, and seats filled quickly. Good sign! They indeed had part of the menu as 50% off for rolls. We ordered three of them and then a salmon and avocado roll. Our bellies were stuffed after four delicious rolls. You can see these four rolls in my pics. What should have been $56 came to $28 (before tax and tip). Over to one spot was unlimited soup for a set price. I would assume miso, but I didn't look. A large screen was playing a Japanese movie. Later they switched to a big pop concert of Asian artists. The dumplings are off the chain!!! Omg, delicious! If this rating was only for dumplings, it'd be a 5. We also tried the sushi, which was justi was ok, probably a 2, salmon didn't taste very fresh... We tried the Singapore fried noodles too, and I give it a 2-3. Noodles were soggy and not as crisp as I like and the sauce was overpowering... I will for sure go back, but next time will only order dumplings The service was great, very friendly and enjoyed the craft of making the dumplings. Fei's brings the heat! And the flavor! For those who are wondering, this is not the same restaurant that was on Eubank and Candelaria. I'm not aware of wether or not the original owner is associated with the new owners. I do know that the food is very different. I have had the pleasure of dining here on several occasions and have tried quite a few menu items. All have been absolutely amazing! There are many Chinese restaurants in ABQ, but none offering truly authentic cuisine like Fei's. The chef is here directly from Chongqing, famous for its fiery Sichuan cuisine. And I'm here to tell you that there is nothing that compares in Albuquerque. The braised fish with sour cabbage has rich, complex flavors that rise above the intense heat. My personal favorite is the dry pot beef with potatoes. For a milder level of heat try the handmade noodles with beef brisket in original broth. The handmade noodles are really special. Oh and the dry fried green beans... OMG! Everything is amazing and made fresh in house. This is a true hole in the wall Chinese cafe serving food for the Chinese palate. This place is great as far as vegan and vegetarian selections- lots of food to try. It's also one of the few Asian places with more street food options in town. I got a combo meal, which is a great concept to have variety and be able to try lots of things. Unfortunately, the noodles and veggies are very plain, and some of the fried foods were greasy. This place doesn't gave a sign, at least not one saying "Fei's Cafe". The sign by the street says "Asian Food Tea Restaurant" and the sign above the door says "Sushi Dumplings", so I'd say they should work on their marketing, because the food was very good and I bet people don't go in because of bad signage. I got the fried noodles and spicy wontons, and both were delicious and healthy--not too oily and you could tell ingredients were fresh. Service was excellent and ambiance was surprisingly nice, not what you'd expect from the outside. A real hidden gem! read more

After visiting NM for a few days, I was missing home food and searched high and low for a good taiwanese restaurant. I can safely say that this is one of the best taiwanese meals I've ever had since coming to the US. Absolutely delicious, fresh and made to order. read more

Wonderful Taiwanese lady who runs this place. I've been looking for authentic Asian food and I'm so glad I found Fei's cafe. The lady used 5o run a restaurant near UNM but closed it down to temporarily return home to take care of her family...and is now back in business cooking Taiwanese street food in ABQ again. Te menu is small and a bit limited, mostly what you can get as street food in Taiwan (youtiao, xiaolongbao, pork buns, dumplings, etc). But..the catch is..she takes the time to cook the meals herself! It's homecooking and not storebought! So, given she has to cook things fresh and is the only one running the cafe, please be kind and understanding that it may take a while to get your food...but yes..this place is original Asian food..and helps curb my desire for authentic Chinese food quite effectively. P.S. the lady is so kind..My first time at the cafe, I spent some time having a conversation with her. She even gave me some free snacks that she just made ro try. Ordered a few things to go. Love the pork meat bun! It's very flavorful and a lot bigger than a Xiao Long Bao. The meat is juicy and very well-seasoned. This is a reliably tasty fav of ours for there 2 pork belly dishes but the recent visit may had been on a busier lunch rush since the pork belly stew over rice was unfortunately over cooked to the point of being similar to burnt tip bbq bits and since it's pork belly with skin on causing all the meat to become plasticky texture and I couldn't eat after a few bites, hope things are back to your best next time, I miss how it tasted before. read more

Parking easy right out front. Food is delicious! Be patient, may take a bit as she makes it fresh. The dumplings were delicious, steamed not fried after steaming. This place has been one of my favorite find in Albuquerque! The owner and chef, Fei is such a nice lady who focuses on creating authentic Taiwanese small plates. Before coming to the US, she trained for two years at one of the best restaurants in Taiwan, and it shows when it comes to her dishes. The pork belly bun sandwich was so tender and flavorful. The dumplings are hand crafted with a meat, veggie, and seafood filling. They're some of the most delicious I've ever had. The stewed pork wouldn't be out of place in a market in Taipei. This restaurant would be a great place to bring a small group and order family style to taste all the delicious small plates. While the restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, it has a really cozy vibe inside with lots of Taiwanese landscapes and culture. They no longer have the same menu, it's a completely different menu and includes beef, chicken, pork and duck. Went here for early lunch with my husband. We tried all the dumplings and we enjoyed it a lot. We also tried the scallion fried bread, it fresh and delicious. Stew pork and egg was great as well. I used to frequent Fei's Cafe when I was a student at UNM. The food was so good, even though I wasn't a vegan at the time, and it was so affordable! I moved away for several years and was so disappointed when I came back home because I couldn't find it anymore. I noticed the sign as I drove by today and was shocked and so excited to find out it was the same place!! I am soooo thrilled that the food is 100% the same as I remember it! The owner is the same and she's such a sweet lady. And not only do they have all the vegan options, but they have some really good meat options for the non-vegans! My girlfriend, who isn't vegan, loved their beef noodle bowl and pork belly bun sandwich, along with all the vegan options. All the food is filling and absolutely delicious! I will be definitely going back on the regular now that I know where they are. Go local and support Fei's!!! You definitely won't regret it!!! UPDATE: Came back on Sunday to try some more things I never had before, plus some Sunday brunch specials. We tried the 油條 (Yóutiáo), which is like a long, unsweetened donut stick with the fresh, homemade hot soy milk and the 甜豆獎 (Tián dòu jing), which is like a hot sweet peanut, sesame drink. If you like soy milk, it was really nice to have fresh homemade soy milk! I ended up dipping the donut stick into the sweet peanut sesame drink and it was so good! As far as I know, this is the only Taiwanese restaurant in the area (not sure about Rio Rancho side) so I feel like I'm being more generous with my review because of that. We happened to drive by and see it and immediately looked it up because we couldn't believe there could be a Taiwanese restaurant here. There was nothing online -- turns out, it's only been open a couple weeks! It's a small space right next to Great Fortune (they share the same bathroom - not sure if same kitchen too?). From what the owner told us, she used to run a vegan Chinese restaurant but has since added a few Taiwanese options that include meat. We dined here for lunch and had the beef noodle soup (niu rou mian), pork stew rice with egg (lu rou fan), pork belly bun sandwich (gua bao), green onion fried bread (cong you bing), boiled dumplings (shui jiao), and mini steamed pork buns (owner said these were xiao long bao but no, they were just small bao zi). Of everything, I would probably only come back for the pork stew rice because I love how it has some fatty meat (some places only use ground pork but not actual pork belly), but my husband did feel it was too salty, and the egg was way overcooked. The pork belly bun sandwich was pretty good, too. Everything else was only okay and some being pretty mediocre, and were it in LA or another city with a much larger Chinese or Taiwanese population, would probably not last very long. But, we're in Albuquerque and I need to take what I can get. I can see myself coming back for a quick lunch to go, and I really want to try their fried stinky tofu to see how it is (a favorite dish of mine that my husband can't stand!). read more

By far WAY at least 10x better than the Chinese place next door! Everything that we ate was very authentic and tasted just like you were in Taiwan. The food was fresh, sauce is made in house, VERY affordable and everything on the menu is 100% worth trying! In some ways, I felt this was one of the best dining experiences I had in ABQ.The service is very good and the owner is very sweet. They are very passionate about their cafe and hope more people find out about this place. I'd definitely ask about the 培根蛋餅 Taiwanese breakfast pancake with bacon and egg. I asked Fei if she would make this and it was amazing! Tastes just like what I remember a 蛋餅 does in Taiwan. I rarely throw food away but I had to this time. Solid joint. I don't like vegan food typically, so the fact that I ate it all speaks volumes. Worst Taiwanese foods I ever had! I went there for the good memory of the delicious foods when I visited Taiwan, plus trying many Taiwanese restaurants at different states in the US. Worst foods I have to say: 1) THe foods does not taste like Taiwanese foods at all. Worse than my 10-year-old son's cook. Not even called Taiwanese foods! 2) The dinning environment is not ideal. I actually was bitten by bugs inside of the cafe. 3) The bubble tea Boba tasted like fake. I have been trying many bubble teas at many restaurants, and this was the worst! 4) The foods were over-priced for its limited size. I would not recommend anyone to visit because of "Taiwanese cafe". Fei makes delicious vegan food. Our family used to frequent Fei's when she was on Central. We were thrilled when we saw her sign just a few weeks ago. The veggie nuggets are probably our favorite with a close second being the pot stickers. We have called and ordered twice during the Covid-19 public health order and the food has been just as delicious as it is in the restaurant.
