Saltie Girl was hands down my favorite meal in all of Boston during our weekend trip. the pricing…read moreis very reasonable and options for oysters are plenty. lobster roll was around $45, so pretty average for other places we went to but wow the portion was so big and the lobster was delicious. the star of the show was the clam chowder! that was the BEST clam chowder I've had in my life. I still think about it and wish I could ship it hahaha. service was also stellar. the fish and chips was just a tad undercooked (not their fault, it was a huge piece of fish!) and our waitress was so accommodating to replace the whole plate quickly and apologize for the inconvenience. she also gave us some great recommendations for local bars to check out after our meal. every time I'm back in Boston I'm definitely coming back to Saltie Girl!

Instead, we were seated in the bar area, which had a loud, club-like atmosphere and didn't feel like the right setting for a special occasion. The service also fell short. It was quite slow, a few of our items were forgotten, and our second glass of wine was served warm. The food itself was good, but considering the price point, I think there are plenty of other restaurants that offer equally good--or better--food with more attentive service and a more upscale dining experience. Overall, it just didn't feel worth the cost, especially for a celebration.

Absolutely top-notch vegan ramen. Coming from Vancouver, BC, where we have a killer…read more(vegan-friendly) ramen scene, I am a tough customer for ramen when visiting elsewhere. But this place completely lives up. 6 different ramens, $17.95 for the regular bowls. I was recommended the red hot miso ramen, a spicy option. You order up at the counter, and they give you a buzzer that buzzes when your ramen is ready to grab at the counter. The ramen was ready in under 10 minutes. First, the broth was remarkably complex and rich, with an endless depth that never became too overbearing -- perfect. The noodles were perfectly cooked as well, served up in a decent portion. Toppings-wise, you get tofu, soy crumble, corn, arugula, and sprouts, along with plenty of sesame seeds. I would've liked some proper greens (other than a few raw arugula leafs), but that's the most minor of complaints. Service was decent enough -- informative and helpful in describing the options. All in all, top-notch vegan ramen. Highest recommendation.

Swung by this place on a weekday for lunch to avoid the rush - most weekends I pass by this place and the line wraps around the street! My friend and I stepped in and were immediately greeted with a sour attitude. We were confused on the menu whether our ramen included chili oil or not, and the staff did not help explain anything and just quickly dismissed our questions to get us to order quicker. Once we sat down, the food was done relatively quickly. However I was very surprised on what we had gotten. Now I admit - I am not a vegetarian. However, I have enjoyed many vegetarian meals and this was quite upsetting. We both got the garlic miso ramen. The ramen was not temperature hot at all. The chili oil was not flavorful. The "soy meat" was simply just mushed tofu with awful texture, and it soaked into the soup and created a pretty unpleasant texture (I took a picture which makes me sad and unappetized). I was unable to finish my bowl. The food combined with the service made for a pretty negative time for me. I really wanted to love it - a place with a full vegetarian menu is amazing for all my friends who have that restriction! Maybe if they tried pan frying the tofu create a better textural experience? I will not plan to come back, and will highly recommend you go to any other restaurant in Back Bay.

The prix fixe menu has 15 items on it and each person picks three items. It's $88 per person not including drinks or dessert. The vibe is cozy/rustic and upscale but not too fancy. There is a community table in the middle of the restaurant but we had a booth that was perfect for 5 girls wanting to chat. The service was really wonderful! Great recommendations and never waited too long for anything! We were able to try 12 of the 15 menu items and we all tried a few bites of each. It was plenty of food! Must haves for me were the kale salad, lasagne bianca and the beef short rib. The dirty martini was also good. Quick review: - go with a small group so you can order lots of dishes on the menu and share. - expect the bill to be at least $150 a person if you have 1-2 drinks. - be open to trying foods you have never had or usually shy away from.

The rest were not as good as I hoped, the flavors didn't feel that special or delicious. They were alright, just not worth the hype or price. However, the service was definitely amazing.
