My experience with Cal Coast Credit Union has been nothing short of exhausting, frustrating, and disappointing -- especially when it comes to how they've handled a serious case of fraud on my account. Back in early June, a scammer linked their own PayPal and Cash App accounts to my Cal Coast account and stole money without my full understanding or permission. I filed a fraud dispute immediately -- but instead of helping me, Cal Coast denied the dispute, saying I "authorized" the charges just because a code was involved. And it was "directly from the phone"That's not how fraud works first off ok cal coast. What's worse is they admitted it was fraud, but said they don't owe me anything because it would be "their loss." Since when is that an excuse to leave your customer with stolen money, a damaged credit score, and no support? They told me to go chase down the companies myself, contacting PayPal and Cash App -- even though I don't even use those services and never had an account with the scammer's name on it. I was forced to do all the legwork alone, while Cal Coast refused to escalate, investigate properly, or even communicate clearly. They made me wait weeks only to be told "we can't help." Now, because of those fraud charges, my credit score dropped over 60 points, and Cal Coast still refuses to put the charges on hold or work with me to afford the balance. They've left me with debt I didn't create, no accountability, and no protection -- despite the fact that this situation clearly falls under Regulation E, which they are supposed to follow as a financial institution. The lack of empathy, professionalism, and action is shocking. I'm a young adult trying to build credit and stay afloat, and this bank has done nothing but hurt me. I've now had to start contacting legal aid and consumer protection agencies just to try and clean up the damage they allowed to happen -- and they still act like it's not their problem. Avoid this credit union at all costs. If you ever have to deal with fraud, don't expect Cal Coast to protect you. They will leave you hanging, ignore consumer rights, and then push all responsibility onto you. Absolutely disgraceful.

My mother passes away over a year ago. There is an account, in the name of her trust at Provident. They consistently come up with reason after reason why they "can't" close out the trust account. First it was death certificate and no, a copy would not do. Then it was a copy of the trust documents. When these hoops were navigated their final ploy was "well, all beneficiaries of the trust must be present at THE SAME TIME. This is both untrue and illegal. According to the state web site the only document necessary is the death certificate and personal identification showing relation to the deceased. This is obviously false upon its face as non local residents, and even in country residents may have conflicting schedules and duties preventing them from appearing at a particular location simultaneously! Upon presenting Page 1 of the actual trust documents, it specifically names the Trustee in charge of the trust. This is the person legally responsible to all beneficiaries. It is their job to collect, gather and liquidate assets so they may be dispersed according to the terms of the document, YET, Provident keeps refusing to disperse the funds. So, unless your life is perfect and no one dies, I would recommend ANY other financial institution. FYI, identical situation at Citibank was resolved in 15 minutes at a single visit. This is the forth trip to Provident and an hour later I have zero confidence this will be resolved today.

I docked a star for the stupid Elite Checking fee, which is $6 per month. I don't really use Frontwave as a bank, more as a placeholder in case I need a loan, so I don't leave much money in my checking. Having at least $2,500 in one's checking waives the fee. I called to have the Elite Checking Account downgraded to "Everyday Checking" but after a half-hour wait the person was unable to access the computer, allegedly. I wonder why there's so much call volume? Maybe it's that sneaky upgrade and $6 a month charge? Either way, it's a good credit union overall with GREAT people at the Wildomar location, but upgrading everyone to the "Elite" checking account without asking was not a good move. They should have left me with the fee-free checking since I obviously don't use the account at all, hardly. **UPDATE** I drove to the local branch and the nice employee not only switched me to free checking, she refunded the $12 I paid unwittingly for the upgraded checking account I didn't upgrade. She said that anyone can get their money back if they show up at a branch as they can make the initial Elite Checking "promotional", post hoc.
