The lights are a bit too bright but everything else works. The drink menu, pfftt..ridiculous!! Mixology in Ludlow, truly legit. 5 stars for the Bhakti chai. Ambrosial. 5 stars for 14th Star Brewings, maple breakfast stout. Dear GOD! The food..come ON..who is making these creations. Artistic plating and sublime flavors. The PEI Curry Mussels blew me away but add the house made focaccia for dipping..HEAVEN. The polenta with vegetables and the crazy good savory tomato sauce was surreal. Lastly, the house made creme brulee tantalized my tastebuds. I didn't want the dinner to end. Homestyle is not in their name for clever alliteration. Justin and Eliza, the owners, will do anything they can to make you feel like this is your home. This was nothing like any hostel I've ever stayed in. The food is out of this world! You have to try whatever is on the specials, trust me, it's going to be delicious. Justin and Eliza can be seen washing dishes, waiting tables, tending the bar, or sweeping up after dinner at any given time. You can tell this place is a labor of love. If the fireplace the friendly faces and the quaint comfortable decor don't make you feel like you live there, you can try playing with their adorable Labradoodle! He's going to be sitting behind the desk whenever you walk in. The granola that they serve for breakfast is delicious and even makes plain yogurt taste amazing. I asked Eliza if I could buy some and she immediately wrote down the recipe for me. Any time I'm in the area, I'm definitely staying at the Homestyle hostel, and so should you. It's the kind of place that you can have a romantic weekend away with your lover, take your family out for a nice evening, or go party and have a good time with your friends. Just stopped in for cocktails before dinner but they were out of control. Highly recommended.

We ate dinner here two times this past week and frankly the food, drinks, and service were absolutely incredible. The quality at homestyle hotel matches any of the best and more interesting restaurants in NYC, with a Vermont touch and clear focus on fresh flavors and ingredients. In total, we tried the salmon, steak, polenta, and mussels - all of which were amazing. The salads and deserts were very good as well, along with very creative and well made cocktails. We really can't say enough about our two meals here - delicious. The team has also done a really good job with socially distant outside seating and we felt very comfortable with the entire experience. Would highly recommend getting a reservation here during a stay in ludlow. We hope to be back soon on our next trip to VT. read more

The food is always excellent here but we had an unfortunate experience with the hostess. After waiting in the cold for our table for 15 minutes I told her I was not happy and her response was "well do you want the table or not" (at 8 pm on a Thursday night) Poor customer relations. She said that she had asked the people to leave 3 times and they didn't yet she took the people behind us to their table. Then she tells me that we are in the middle of a pandemic. Really!! I guess I didn't know that. We were trying to support local business but she acted like she didn't want our business. We are local residents who have been there numerous times. This is an ABSOLUTE must try if you are within a 25 mile radius. It was 100% outstanding. The reception is warm and friendly. They bring you drinks while you are waiting. If you have to wait, trust me, it's worth the wait. We had roasted Brussels sprouts, polenta cake with vegetables and their special of the day was pork belly with braised cabbage. Simply and utterly the best meal we have had in a very long time. The bar tenders are fun and the drinks are creative and outstanding without being over done and ridiculous. We found out later one of our bartenders is actually the owner! This down to earth staff is focused on making your visit worth the hype and believe me... it sky rockets over the hype. We cannot address the accommodations because we didn't stay there but the guest next to us said it was clean and lovely. read more

My family has come here the last three years when we do our annual ski vacation to Okemo. Couldn't ask for a better restaurant. The brussel sprouts are a must get, and are practically dessert. The pastas are always amazing as well, and the steak is the best item on the manual. Great atmosphere, and even the younger kids will eat some of the tamer food items. Did not expect to hear so many crying babies so there was literally impossible to enjoy your food or conversation. I am not sure if I would give it another try, just not my scene. read more

This is a restaurant we look forward to going to each summer. We love the way the unique and interesting dishes that come out as they're ready and we share everything. The atmosphere and the friendly waitstaff add to experience. This year we've had the swordfish, cold asparagus and cavatelli. They were all good. The drinks are fun too, we all had a cocktail made with kale. They only take reservations for parties of five or more, though their waiting area is comfortable. Came to the Homestyle Hostel for drinks after dinner at the DtG around the corner. AMAZING cocktail menu here. It was packed but they were super accommodating, sweet, great with their recommendations and super quick service. This is my favorite restaurant not just in Ludlow but anywhere! I have been here at least a dozen times and have never been disappointed. The chef is a genius! Her dishes are interesting, fresh but most importantly delicious! She pars things together in a way that complements each ingredient perfectly without ever overwhelming or overdoing any dish. The key to this is she focuses on what is currently fresh and stays very local. Service is friendly, prompt and helpful. The owners are welcoming and seem to truly appreciate your business. And the drinks... again very seasonally based and always the perfect blend of flavors. My only hesitation in writing this- more people will come but I can't hold back! read more

A friend and I stayed up the road from Homestyle Hostel for a weekend getaway, and I found them through Yelp. Boy were we happy we did. Everything from the hostess, to the waitress, to the bartender, to the chef...all top notch. You can tell they all love their jobs. They have a small seasonal menu, and every ingredient they use is fresh, and seasoned to perfection. We loved our experience so much that we went there two nights in a row for dinner! Word of advice, get there early on a weekend, because the place fills up fast. They only take reservations for party of 6 or more (I believe), everyone else is first come, first serve, and they have limited seating. Also, this is not a fast food joint, so don't expect cheap prices just because it's a hostel (entree average is $20+, specialty cocktails is about $10). For the two of us, 2 appetizers, a shared entree, plus 2 cocktails ran us about $70 + tip. Reasonable, in my opinion, because the food is out of this world delicious. This place is superb. The hostess is lovely, and gracious, and you feel that you are truly taken care of from the moment you arrive. We had the same server (Shannon) both times we came in. She not only remembered who we were, but also what we had ordered, and appeared to be the only person on waitstaff. This gal is a real pro, and makes her work look easy and enjoyable (which anyone who has ever waited tables can tell you-- that is a talent!) She was just terrific, we are looking forward to seeing her again! The food is exceptional, and on a level that belongs way outside Ludlow, VT. We are so lucky to have this place, and my only hesitation writing this review is that it will get too crowded someday to eat there. The menu is creative, inventive, and well executed. Fine dining without being pretentious. The mixologist on staff is a magician... and that is all I have to say about that. If I had to change only 1 thing about this place it would be that it's just a wee bit small. the quarters are a bit stuffy, but they do do a fine job making the seating as comfortable as possible. Wow, just wow! So incredibly impressed by this little place. You walk in and it doesn't look like much. But as you walk through you realize that it really adds to the charm. We were a walk in and had to wait a few minutes to get seated. There wasn't anywhere to sit but someone came up to us pretty quickly to get our drink orders. When we sit down we get this really energetic waitress that is just as excited for our selections as we are. The brussel sprouts were probably the best we've ever had. The friend cauliflower was amazing. The mac and cheese of the day was unique. I wouldn't say that it reminded me of mac and cheese, but it was so delicious in it's own right. The cavatelli and the polenta cake were also pretty good. Unlike most nights out to dinner, we opted to try the dessert because everything else was so good. We ordered the homemade ice cream, bread pudding and creme brulee. One of the folks in our group said the creme brulee was one of the best they've ever had. Another person said that while they don't normally like bread pudding, this one was excellent. If I make it back to Okemo I would absolutely make it a point to go back here. The only complaint I had is that I wish they had more protein options. There were a lot of pasta and carb options. They were all delicious though read more

Loved it! Was recently in Ludlow for an overnight ski trip and finding food items that don't fit the ski place food groups (Fries, Wings, Burgers, did I mention Fries) are hard to come by. Well, we came by HH and we were impressed. Upscale restaurant with "hipster vibe"... Thankfully no actual hipsters were present hahaha. Food an drinks were both creative and delicious.
