10/10 meal, amazing food, service, drinks and vibes. Family style food. The winter salad was unbelievable you have to try it.

Fan-freaking-tastic! I'm from NYC and this place can hang with the best of the best restaurants. Every dish is a complete stunner! This was my third visit. Did two times in main dining and one time in private room and all are superb! The food is out of this world with each dish having a life of its own. Family style rocks here are you just order a bounty and dive in with your table. Don't sleep on the roast chicken - the MOST juicy ever! Pasta dishes are on point. The mussels have broths booming with flavor. All the salads super fresh. And the cocktails pack a punch and flavor boom! The servers are on point. It's a not miss visit! Worth the 20-30 min drive from Killington no questions asked!

This restaurant blew us away. From scene to service to food, everyone/thing... beyond expectations! The crafted cocktails were perfection. I had the Good Ol' Boy (Brown buttered bourbon, amaro, spiced burnt orange, pear, lemon, bitters) and had to fight my husband to keep his lips off it! Once the Drunken mussels arrived to the table, we knew this place was going to knock our socks off. Spring veg was another plate we licked clean... Fettuccine with chorizo and shrimp?? MA MA MIA!!! Just when we thought we had the best... the strawberry basil sorbet sent us over the edge. In conjunction with the great service...We see why this place is always packed. We will most certainly be back to atone for not having come sooner. Wish I got more pics of food but we were too busy wolfing it down! TIP: portioned as "Homestyle" and most of what dishes we ordered could feed 2! Talk to your server if you don't want to be carrying to/go bags afterwards!!

Finally came back from a proper dinner. Reserved a private dining room upstairs (they are using the "hotel" rooms as private dining rooms this summer) which was perfect on a hot summer evening with air conditioning. Also comes with a private bathroom (and a shower but no one is showering) since it's a whole room. The dining remains terrific. The plates (and prices) have gotten a bit bigger over time but the quality shows. We got the polenta (again). Still remains a standout dish. Creamy and delicious. But we branches out too. The steak and frites had a nice 8 0z strip with, according to one of my dining partners, some of the best fries he's had. Of course he was hungry FWIW. I loved the fettuccine bolognese. A huge portion chock full of meat and tender pasta. The half portion of kale Caesar was more than enough for 4 people to share with huge leafs of kale that surprisingly wasn't too bitter. Really enjoyed it. The desserts were also great as usual. Key like crème brûlée was melt in your mouth delicious. While the chocolate cake parfait was a surprise. Had fresh fruit, fresh whipped cream and light and airy cake to go with it. A nice summer treat. The cocktails remain one of the best things about this and Mqin and Mountain. Such creativity. Don't forget to branch out. And then I had a local beer Outer limits Atmosbeer. A mix of an Brown ale and porter with a slight taste of maple sugar, this was a fun drink to get too. Service was professional and friendly. We loved it.

Let's start with the most important fact of all--excellent, exquisite cocktails. Whether you come here or to their sister bar across the street, you are in for a libation treat. I tried two bourbon-based cocktails, the Good Ol Boy (Brown Buttered Bourbon, Spiced Burnt Orange, Amaro, Lemon, Pear, Bitters) and the Palo Malo, and they were just incredibly tasty and complex--you'll have to fight to savor them and not guzzle them straight down. Beer and wine choices seemed great as well, but I'd personally find it hard to get past the cocktails. As to dinner... we were a party of three, and the waiter advised that they typically recommend ordering plates for sharing, and suggested that we order 4-5 plates from the menu to share. A few very minor quibbles aside, the food was largely excellent. We started with the Little leaf farm salad, which was a great starter, featuring shaved fennel and beets and pickled grapes in an nice buttermilk-based dressing. Next we had the PEI Mussels- these were fine and interesting--I always love mussels--I admire the different take they have with the mustard seed-based broth, but not sure it entirely worked. I also kind of hated the focaccia bread it was served with--dry and crumbly and didn't work for the all-important broth sopping. Finally, the three entrees--a house made Cavatelli with shrimp in a parmesan white wine broth, a seared Cod special and a pork belly entrée. These were all quite enjoyable as well--again, I could probably find minor things I would tweak--e.g., thought the sweet potato puree didn't pair well with the pork belly--but all in all everything was well conceived and enjoyable. I didn't get dessert, was too full--my friends did and enjoyed. Overall the food alone would probably have netted five stars from me, or would be in that 4.5 range where I wouldn't know which way to go. However, do have to say I was a bit put off by how quickly they rushed us out for the table. When ordering dessert they mentioned that they would need the table "soon" for a later reservation, then they came around with the check while my friends were still eating dessert and said we'd really need to pay/leave soon. I've been trying to be more patient with expectations as we all adjust from Covid, and know restaurants have a lot to deal with, but given the price point (reasonable for the quality) and the leisurely base of dinner/entrée arrival, it still left a slightly bad taste in my mouth--at the end of a meal that involved so many good tastes.

"fried" green tomatoes

Been here a few times in the last few weeks while entertaining my parents and their friends! We've loved it every time. Jess is amazing and so is the whole staff! The food is so fresh, and yummy. you can't go wrong with anything on the menu here! The private rooms are great for a group and downstairs is great for a casual dinner. Our new favorite place!

Good Ole Boy

So happy to have come back to Homestyle Restaurant after the summer months. In my opinion this is the best restaurant in the greater Ludlow area. The drinks are so amazing!!! My favorite is the Good Ole Boy which is a buttered bourbon infused with orange and all kinds of goodness. The food is served family style and meant to be shared. The menu changes with the seasons and their specials are what's currently the freshest available. That being said they are a pretty healthy restaurant that is very accommodating to special requests. We had the mini greens salad, duck cassoulet and polenta. All was amazing. You need a reservation so do it in advance. Enjoy!!!!

This place is amazing. Beyond the confusing name (Homestyle Hostel IS a restaurant!) everything gets five stars. Extremely attentive and friendly waitstaff and hostess greet you. We were seated by the bar and watched show much fun they had making one of their many creative cocktails. The menu emphasizes local and organic - yet my fettuccine with chorizo (from a local purveyor) with clams and shrimp (decidedly NOT local as VT is the only New England state without Atlantic coastline!) was fabulous. The shrimp were flavorful, fresh and had the perfect "snap" - the clams tasted of the ocean. A light tomato sauce complemented the perfectly cooked fresh fettuccine. The fried polenta cake with zucchini noodles, shiitake, pickled onions and pea shoots was amazing (see photo)!!! Even the salad was fabulous - fresh, cold, wonderful. A light creamy Parmesan dressing was homemade and perfect. Too bad Covid is limiting the number of patrons because this place is a winner!

We looked around at the fresh and frozen pies and they looked appealing. As others have mentioned, there are no prices so that was a little disconcerting. A gentleman came and helped us and as noted in prior reviews, he was somewhat gruff but I didn't take it as grumpy or mean. My take, unsubstantiated by any scientific evidence, is that not every store owner is pre-disposed to having a neurotypical customer-centric focus. That being said, we were offered coffee with our pie slices and a place to sit. There is currently a lot of construction going on at the place because the business was hit hard after COVID and then flooding in Vermont in 2023 caused significant damage. My blueberry coffee cake was good. I will say it wasn't worth $8 per slice. As noted, the prices are sky high here. For two slices, two coffees, a small bag of cookies and a peanut butter bar it was $36....$39 if I wanted to pay by card so I opted for cash and saved the $3. Probably if prices were posted, customers would immediately turn around and walk out. When I saw the price of the pie slice, I immediately thought "This is as expensive as Manhattan". I don't mind as much when I shell out big bucks for food there because it's expected but it was a bit of a shock to see those prices in Vermont. To wrap it up, I agree with others that this place is overpriced and service is brusque at best. However, if prices had been posted, I would have given this 3 stars easily because I appreciate a direct and no-nonsense approach to running a business.

The total price was $52. There was a surcharge for using a credit card. The 2 rolls were $18!! We don't mind paying for something that is exceptional however that was not the case. The owner even seemed annoyed by our visit. When we got home we thawed out the rolls. They were only cooked on the outer edge and the inside was raw. Raw! It literally turned to mush. We had to toss it because it was already coated with icing ands couldn't be rebaked. For the second roll we decided to bake it since the first one was raw and the dough was even stretchy. That did absolutely nothing. Guessing since it was half baked it couldn't be rebaked. It could make someone ill with the rawness. I messaged the owner on FB and no reply. We will not be going there again. We visit Las Olas in the winter and frequent upscale bakeries paying $60 for a cake. A cake that is freshly baked and exceptional. The lemon pound cake we bought was actually freezer burnt. Again if the item was fresh baked it's worth the cost. We always support local and small businesses. We understand how ingredients cost a lot, especially these days, but these products are frozen and there is no date on each package to indicate the date it was made. I wish I realized that before I got home. If I lived closer I wouldn't returned the products. A complete disappointment and waste of money.

It is my favorite variant of ice cream: super rich, it has a soft and delicate mouth-feel, and it is extremely creamy (hence the name). The Creemee stand (owned by the Boyd family) is my favorite place serving Creemee in the area. They always have vanilla and chocolate (which you can get as a swirl), and Vermont Maple. All three are outstanding, but I like Maple the best. There's just a hint of maple, which adds a hint of a maple/caramel that accentuates the creaminess of the vanilla. Sometimes they also have Black Raspberry, which is also very good. They also serve hard scoop ice cream as well and I'll bet it's really good. I just will never find out because if I'm at the Creemee Stand, you can bet I'll be getting some Creemee.

I will have to agree with another poster who said there was very little maple flavor. I really felt like I was eating a vanilla soft serve. I mean, I do like a vanilla soft serve but not the thicker consistency I was expecting and definitely didn't taste any maple. It was still a nice after dinner break. Note that they only take CASH.

Located in Manchester VT a very homey little candy shop…read more You walk into this place in Manchester and just kinda think...why does this store fit perfectly for where I am at at this moment? It's truly a pleasant little store. The lady seemed a little weirded out when my brother and I first walked in. We were in Manchester for the night, on our way back to NY from a week in Maine. She looked at us like....hmm I dunno, don't wanna say anything mean bc she wasn't mean lol, she just looked at us ... weirdly lol. Not sure how else to put it. As our visit went on she ended up being very nice. I just hope she didn't think we were in there to like...steal a couple pieces of candy hahaha. I mean, we aren't 10 years old anymore lol. She then went on to tell us about the store and how all the candy is made there (pretty sure that's what she said). I just remember thinking....how wonderful that this stuff isn't imported from places like...ugh China! They have everything! Every possible kind of candy you can imagine...she has it. She gave us a free sample and it was amazing! There are few great candy shoppes in Manchester. This one is definitely one of them. Prices are a little...high. Just a heads up if you go here. Couple things to consider as to why tho... 1) it's Manchester VT. It's a very bougie little town. Only makes sense most things are pricey there 2) privately owned 3) candy is made on site 4) it's Manchester Vermont lol Should this stop you from going? Absolutely not. Even if you're just in to look...it's worth it. Really a cute store. I hope to return to it one day. Living in Idaho, I rarely make it to Vermont lol. BUT IF I DO! I will for sure head back into Mother Myricks! Thanks for reading, YelperMyrickers! Cheers!

I don't think they were quite as good as Lake Champlain chocolates, but they were a close second. I always appreciate the freshness factor (in addition to flavor), so it mattered that the orange peel and apricots were very fresh. If we are ever in the area, I'd come back here for sure, but I'd stick with the chocolates only. No more baked goods !
