This restaurant does shareables so you order a bunch of apps and entrees to split with the table. The waiter was very helpful determining the right amount of food to order. We walked in, hoping to find a table on a Thursday evening, and the staff was very accommodating, putting us on a waiting list, texting us, and then getting us at the bar. The two bartenders were Denmark fabulous as where the cocktails were both tasty and an eclectic. Food portions were generous and very tasty. in addition to overall healthy.. Did two times in main dining and one time in private room and all are superb! The food is out of this world with each dish having a life of its own. This restaurant blew us away. From scene to service to food, everyone/thing... beyond expectations! The crafted cocktails were perfection. I had the Good Ol' Boy (Brown buttered bourbon, amaro, spiced burnt orange, pear, lemon, bitters) and had to fight my husband to keep his lips off it! Once the Drunken mussels arrived to the table, we knew this place was going to knock our socks off. Spring veg was another plate we licked clean... Fettuccine with chorizo and shrimp?? MA MA MIA!!! Just when we thought we had the best... the strawberry basil sorbet sent us over the edge. In conjunction with the great service...We see why this place is always packed. Finally came back from a proper dinner. Reserved a private dining room upstairs (they are using the "hotel" rooms as private dining rooms this summer) which was perfect on a hot summer evening with air conditioning. Also comes with a private bathroom (and a shower but no one is showering) since it's a whole room. The dining remains terrific. The plates (and prices) have gotten a bit bigger over time but the quality shows. We got the polenta (again). Still remains a standout dish. Creamy and delicious. But we branches out too. The steak and frites had a nice 8 0z strip with, according to one of my dining partners, some of the best fries he's had. Of course he was hungry FWIW. I loved the fettuccine bolognese. A huge portion chock full of meat and tender pasta. The half portion of kale Caesar was more than enough for 4 people to share with huge leafs of kale that surprisingly wasn't too bitter. Really enjoyed it. The desserts were also great as usual. Key like crème brûlée was melt in your mouth delicious. While the chocolate cake parfait was a surprise. Had fresh fruit, fresh whipped cream and light and airy cake to go with it. A nice summer treat. The cocktails remain one of the best things about this and Mqin and Mountain. Such creativity. Don't forget to branch out. And then I had a local beer Outer limits Atmosbeer. A mix of an Brown ale and porter with a slight taste of maple sugar, this was a fun drink to get too. Let's start with the most important fact of all--excellent, exquisite cocktails. Whether you come here or to their sister bar across the street, you are in for a libation treat. I tried two bourbon-based cocktails, the Good Ol Boy (Brown Buttered Bourbon, Spiced Burnt Orange, Amaro, Lemon, Pear, Bitters) and the Palo Malo, and they were just incredibly tasty and complex--you'll have to fight to savor them and not guzzle them straight down. Beer and wine choices seemed great as well, but I'd personally find it hard to get past the cocktails. As to dinner... we were a party of three, and the waiter advised that they typically recommend ordering plates for sharing, and suggested that we order 4-5 plates from the menu to share. A few very minor quibbles aside, the food was largely excellent. We started with the Little leaf farm salad, which was a great starter, featuring shaved fennel and beets and pickled grapes in an nice buttermilk-based dressing. Next we had the PEI Mussels- these were fine and interesting--I always love mussels--I admire the different take they have with the mustard seed-based broth, but not sure it entirely worked. I also kind of hated the focaccia bread it was served with--dry and crumbly and didn't work for the all-important broth sopping. Finally, the three entrees--a house made Cavatelli with shrimp in a parmesan white wine broth, a seared Cod special and a pork belly entrée. These were all quite enjoyable as well--again, I could probably find minor things I would tweak--e.g., thought the sweet potato puree didn't pair well with the pork belly--but all in all everything was well conceived and enjoyable. I didn't get dessert, was too full--my friends did and enjoyed. Overall the food alone would probably have netted five stars from me, or would be in that 4.5 range where I wouldn't know which way to go. However, do have to say I was a bit put off by how quickly they rushed us out for the table. When ordering dessert they mentioned that they would need the table "soon" for a later reservation, then they came around with the check while my friends were still eating dessert and said we'd really need to pay/leave soon. I've been trying to be more patient with expectations as we all adjust from Covid, and know restaurants have a lot to deal with, but given the price point (reasonable for the quality) and the leisurely base of dinner/entrée arrival, it still left a slightly bad taste in my mouth--at the end of a meal that involved so many good tastes. read more

This place was nice for sure, but in a brief review, I'd have to go with overrated as my 30,000 Ft view of this place... along with the other 3 guests I was with. It wasn't bad at all, please don't get me wrong, but I'd say there was nothing that blew us away, certainly not for the price considering without any alcohol, it was nearly $300 for us to eat. To be clean, we ordered 3 apps, 3 entrees, 2 deserts... family style , so it is a lot of food, more than we needed. If you don't mind a family style, simple "meat and potatoes" kind of meal you'd probably make at home ( at least of your a typical American family from VA) for $300, this is your place. But if you think you might question why you just brought your wife, your teenager and your 7 year d here and spent $300 on dinner without any adult begs at all, you might skip this place. Comfortable, farmhouse ambiance with creative cocktails, and well-crafted, family style dishes. We tried 2 sides and 3 main dishes for our family of 4 (incl. two kids under 12). So happy to have come back to Homestyle Restaurant after the summer months. In my opinion this is the best restaurant in the greater Ludlow area. The drinks are so amazing!!! My favorite is the Good Ole Boy which is a buttered bourbon infused with orange and all kinds of goodness. The food is served family style and meant to be shared. The menu changes with the seasons and their specials are what's currently the freshest available. That being said they are a pretty healthy restaurant that is very accommodating to special requests. We had the mini greens salad, duck cassoulet and polenta. All was amazing. You need a reservation so do it in advance. Enjoy!!!! read more

This place is amazing. Beyond the confusing name (Homestyle Hostel IS a restaurant!) everything gets five stars. Extremely attentive and friendly waitstaff and hostess greet you. We were seated by the bar and watched show much fun they had making one of their many creative cocktails. The menu emphasizes local and organic - yet my fettuccine with chorizo (from a local purveyor) with clams and shrimp (decidedly NOT local as VT is the only New England state without Atlantic coastline!) was fabulous. The shrimp were flavorful, fresh and had the perfect "snap" - the clams tasted of the ocean. A light tomato sauce complemented the perfectly cooked fresh fettuccine. The fried polenta cake with zucchini noodles, shiitake, pickled onions and pea shoots was amazing (see photo)!!! Even the salad was fabulous - fresh, cold, wonderful. A light creamy Parmesan dressing was homemade and perfect. Too bad Covid is limiting the number of patrons because this place is a winner! read more

Yelp does not have enough stars. I was hoping for a decent meal. This was way beyond decent. We shared a half salad--mixed greens no less--that combined freshness with a combination flavors and textures that proved delightful and stimulating to the palate. Chicken is my litmus for a good restaurant; a chef can make a succulent roasted chicken on any old night for any old patron knows his stuff. I want Homestyle's chicken again tomorrow. The carrot cake with orange blossom cream cheese icing was moist, spiced perfectly, and it's whipped icing was nigh perfect. We had dinner here the other night. We have been here several times and every meal has been amazing! We are WOWed every time. This time we ordered the salad with beets, squash, and dill dressing. Very light and refreshing. Our entrees were Salmon with Lentil Salad and Pork Belly with Farro Salad. Both were amazing. The Salmon had a crisp sear on the outside with soft, juicy meat on the inside. I can't say enough about the Lentil Salad. It was perfection! The Pork Belly was very meaty and the Farro Salad had intense Asian flavor (a little less salt here would have made it perfection). The owners, chef, and staff here have mastered the culinary experience. A true gem in the heart of Ludlow. Looking forward to coming back in March. read more

I love a good food. There are really good restaurants that I have tried and some leave a great impression on me. But this is a WOW restaurant. Everything, was so great, fresh, delicious, original. I loved the flavors and combinations of the things that I wouldn't never think of trying. Every-single-bite was WOW. Salad, so fresh, so perfect. I had pork belly. Alright, this place punched WAY above its weight. Expectations were limited coming in given Ludlow is a small ski town in the middle of nowhere. This place was better than at least 80% of the "fancy" places I've ate. First, the main food. These were some of the freshest ingredients I've had. Dishes didn't try to do too much, just sold themselves. The tagliatelle was so good, the sauce wasn't too rich or heavy, really nicely balanced dish. Second, the drinks. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were hilarious - really fun company. The drinks they served up were creative, unique, well-balanced and super fun. I could have drank the whole menu left to my own devices. Third, the dessert. Gd, that cheesecake was SO GOOD. I mean SO GOOD!!!! And the homemade ice cream was *chefs kiss*. I thought it was odd that this place has multiple dollar signs on various platforms, it was cheaper than our lunch at the local tavern at Okemo mtn. The service was phenomenal, people were really nice. Atmosphere was super cozy and fun. Loved it, great experience, will def be back next time in Okemo. read more

If Knees Could Talk- they'd say to quit skiing as it hurts. I spend my day skiing at Magic Mountain. Magic has some great terrain, but not much in the way of Restaurants. So I drive to ludlow vermont and stopped at the top rated Yelp restaurant. Its a cocktail bar/ restaurant and hostel. By NYC standards, its a solid 4.3 stars. By VT standards, Its great! I ordered two cocktails. 1st was mescal/ absinthe/ fernet. It drank sour but thats par for the course. Then i had a "pearly gates and substituted gin in for the bourbon. It was great and light. I also ordered the steak. It was cooked to perfection (medium rare), and filled me up as it was my lunch and dinner. Overall, I think this is the best place near okemo/ magic. Food and drinks were good, service was friendly and prompt. Not the cheapest place but nit priced terribly high. Its also intimate. Not a place for families. So if you're skiing or hiking or adventuring in the area, be sure to check this place out. Its worth it :) read more

We finally had dinner the other night and had a blast. My wife tried the fall in Vermont and johnny be good cocktails while I tried the not another negroni and good ol boy. She liked both of hers and I liked their take on a negroni with cynar instead of campari and the good ol boy is just a great blend of bourbon and orange flavor. For food we had the artichoke hearts, smashers and mussels. They came in that order which was like a good crescendo. The artichoke hearts were very gently breaded and fried. They had a lot of flavor and didnt need the aioli which came with them. Very subtle but delicious. A perfect first course. Then we had the smashers (red bliss potatoes smashed with a wine bottle and then roasted/fried to make them crispy with garlic). These were excellent and we were fighting for the last tasty bits of garlic. And the finale was the mussels. Oh my god these were good. Excellent sweet broth with bacon and very nicely cooked mussels. But the fried/grilled toast on the side? If there is bread in heaven, this is it. Holy cow was it good, alone or dipped generously in the broth. The team here is great and we hope they have a great break during stick season ahead of the holidays! read more

Best restaurant in Ludlow and one of the best in Vermont. All homemade and sourced locally, their menu consists of seafood, meats and pastas. My personal favorite is the whole trout when it's on the menu. With many cocktails brought from across the street at their Main and Mountain cocktail bar, you get to enjoy great drinks with your food. This place is freaking amazing. I drive up to Vermont for skiing at least once a year from Baltimore and always stay here. It is only a few minutes drive from Okemo, and they also have a shuttle that comes by. The people that work here are super duper nice, literally the best. The hostel is cool, 3 sets of bunk beds per room with 2 rooms and a bathroom for each. They are kept extremely clean. There is also a "mud room" that is kept warm for you to keep your ski boots warm. At $40/night, the hostel is a bit pricier than most other hostels, but it's still much cheaper than anything you will find in the area. If you're going solo and need a bed for just one, this is definitely the way to go. The bar/restaurant is also super amazing. They have a simple menu, but their food is awesome. They also have excellent drinks. It's a little small though and they get very busy since they're only open Thursday-Sunday. Even though all their staff is top notch, I recommend trying to get a seat at the bar if you're alone, as their bartender is super chill. read more
