The meat was falling off of the beef rib, the sweet sticky Korean rib tips were delicious and had a wonderful spiced rub to them (one of my favorites of the night), and the fat on the brisket just melted in your mouth. I had the "hometown tea" to drink and it was refreshing, well-balanced, and perfect to wash it all down. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. It's the best BBQ I've had in Miami! We stopped by Hometown around 6pm on a Saturday. It wasn't too busy, and we were quickly seated right away. The restaurant is open and spacious. I noticed an outdoor area, which would be nice to check out after the summer months. We ordered the elote, broccoli, half pound of spare ribs, and the sausage. After eating all of that we ordered another half a pound of spare ribs, lol. The standouts for me were the ribs and the broccoli! The ribs have a nice "bark" on them and the broccoli was charred and had a really yummy sauce. The sausage was good, but if I were to come back I'd try something else. Went to Hometown twice in a couple weeks and tried at least half their menu, so I won't steer you wrong. 1) If you're sharing a meal with at least 1 other person or if you are a true bbq fan and don't mind having a crap ton of food and taking home leftovers, order the beef rib. It was just as rich and delicious as the beef ribs I had in Austin-- soo tender and fatty, like butter, and just as huge. It could have fed 4 people. 2) If you want a smaller portion, get the brisket. It was also very tender, fatty, ugh so good. Other menu items are also good, but beef rib or brisket are MUST ORDERS. Ok, onto other menu items. The pulled pork sandwich was yummy, if you prefer pork and/or want a sandwich. I'm sure their brisket sandwich would be good too, because the brisket is good. Pastrami bacon was delicious but be warned it comes drizzled in a mustard sauce, in case you dislike mustard. The cornbread was good with the honey butter. The watermelon salad was ok. Good to have some greens and something cold and refreshing to balance out the richness of the bbq. The broccoli was also just ok. Nice big portion, but pretty standard broccoli. Again, mainly good to have some vegetables for balance. The Cole slaw is good for Cole slaw. I would skip the char siu ribs unless you love Chinese meat because they were pretty dry. The Korean rib tips were also surprisingly flavorless, so skip. The Mac and cheese was mediocre. I ordered the beef ribs which is sold by the bone. The price was $56 per bone. I ordered one bone and it was enough to feed both myself and my husband with lunch the next day. I didn't regret it. It was falling off the bone, succulent and seasoned to perfection. It was worth every penny. We also ordered the brisket which had a good outer crust but could have been more tender. For the sides I got Mac and cheese, cornbread and Cole slaw. The Mac and cheese had a crumb topping but lacked flavor and wasn't my favorite. Waiter service was great. Ambiance was very cool and Miami wynwood-like hip. Food as a family of 5 (2 adults + 3 kids) for $177 out the door with tax and tip (only waters for drinks and no desserts) was at a higher price point than I expected. The food quality fell short of this value by far. Baby back ribs were skimpy on meat and tough, I would have enjoyed meatier ribs that were soft and "fall right off the bone" maybe my expectations were too high? BBQ sauces were not that great. You could use a caddie with maybe 2 or 3 more sauce options. Sweeter BBQ sauce could be a winner. Spent $22 on two sides of both large slaw and beans which also fell short. The slaw and beans need to be sweeter to balance out the salty seasoned meat. The bacon looked amazing on the platter but we had to send it back bc it was cold about 50% all throughout the center. After it was reheated it was better but not out of this world. The beef rib was delicious and very tender. The brisket was also flavored nicely. Overall I feel that all the food should have been served much hotter, (or maybe fresher?) everything seemed good but felt like it was yesterday's leftovers re-heated. A bit more of a "smoked" flavor would have also hit the spot. Can't comment on cocktails or beers bc we are alcohol free, but I did like that we could eat a whole meal gluten-free. The place has a lot of potential, all it needs is a few tweaks to make it killer. Not sure if I'll want to drop close to $180 to bring the family back for Meh food. The food was impressive once again! We ordered the wings again (5/5), the elote (3/5) just ok, now wow factor, BUT THE BRISKET?! O M G ! We ordered the Briskey taco and it was amazing! Truly the best brisket I've tried this far! the tortilla was in house made and the tacos itself was filled with an explosion of flavors that very well complemented the brisket. SO GOOD! I don't go out of my way for BBQ often but if I'm craving it- this is the spot we go to. Its tucked away in allapattah so can he confusing to find the first time around. Servings are big and I recommend sharing with a group so you can try everything. The wings, brisket, ribs, and pulled pork are all phenomenal.
