Dry roast beef, okra, Mac and cheese. Just about rock solid hush puppies

Sorry but place has never been good to me. Sort of reminds me of those cheap microwaveable dinners they put on a plate. If you think this is "country" cooking you ain't from around here. Service however was great, super friendly. Very expensive for what it is. 15 dollars for a plate of this slop? Plus 2.80 for a drink.

Arrived for a Friday lunch around 1 pm. My guest and I seated ourselves and waited for a server to attend to us. After several minutes one server spoke to another one who came to the table with menus. My guest had the Friday lunch special - stewed beef and vegetables over rice. I ordered the hamburger steak with mac and cheese and banana pudding as my sides. Food was delivered to the table in a reasonable time. Ample portions for both of us. Hamburger steak was bland, lacked seasoning. Banana pudding was ok, but I've had better. I'm happy for those that enjoy the place and have given it higher ratings, but it didn't impress me.

Fried pork chops, collard greens, mashed potatoes with gravy and corn muffin! Delicious

This place was definitely a diamond in the rough. Very nice and attentive southern staff. The food came out fast but this was not fast food. All the ingredients tasted very fresh and homemade. I felt like I was eating Sunday dinner at my mother's house. The prices were very reasonable, almost a steal for the quality of the meal.

Consistent Southern food and friendly folks. It's basic hometown atmosphere; no frills here. We love the blackened fish and hush puppies!

So we pulled off, took out the trusty Yelp app, and this place popped up. Pulling it, it was clear that they were popular and busy. We went in and there was a wait, about 15 minutes. We decided to hang around instead of worrying about "making good time" and are glad we did. Once we got a seat, we received great service. Our server always kept our drink full, and checked on us just enough. We never felt like we were searching for her. Looking at the menu, I was surprised to see that the prices were not unreasonable, even though it's a very trendy place. in fact, they had a $10ish lunch menu available with a few selections that even included a drink. I was more in a lunch mood so I went that direction, and got a buffalo chicken sandwich with fries. Food came out hot and in a reasonable time even with a full restaurant, so this is a well oiled machine. For the price, I was pretty impressed. I would say the sandwich was about the size of your average CFA chicken sandwich, but had a bold buffalo flavor that I liked a lot. They didn't skimp on the fries, and the ranch complemented it perfectly. We finished up and our server was on top of things getting us the check, so really we still made "good time" on our drive to the coast. I would recommend Brunches to travelers and locals alike!

We were expecting a cute brunch spot, but this really wasn't that at all. The whole experience just felt pretty underwhelming. They also have a 2% service charge buried in the fine print on the menu. That's the only place it's mentioned unless you specifically ask about it when paying. When you go to pay, they don't give you an itemized bill either. You're just shown the total after taxes and the service fee, along with a recommended 30% tip. The waiter said the 2% fee was for credit card payments, but I hadn't even taken my wallet out yet when he mentioned it, so I'm not convinced that's true. Overall, just not a great experience and definitely not worth the price.

One of my sons has been affected the same way, we didn't eat the same thing. Server prioritized others ahead of us (waited about 10 mins to be asked for a drink order, meanwhile filling a drink order for 4 cops who came in 10 minutes after us). Prices looked great, portion size was large but the food itself was a big meh. I asked if they could cook their burgers to temp, got a resounding Yes they can....I asked for a medium burger and it came out well done. I was asked by two people how it was, which I answered "It was ok" - nobody wanted more details. IMHO they have an established base they cater hardest too and they don't extend that service to new customers. Makes the old timers feel great however we'll never be regulars. We won't be back. I get supporting those who support you, but that's hardly a long term sustainable model. Hope you're ready for when those folks dwindle off. They'll be lost in new customers acquisition and won't understand it. Enjoy it while you can. Atmosphere was great. Very disappointed it didn't meet expectations.
