Someone new took my order this time (I don't come often now that I live in queens) and they gave me reg Italian dressing instead of creamy Italian (I asked the order taker if they had this prior to placing my order and he confirmed). Not upset at the mistake it happens... more annoyed at the lady whom I brought this mistake up to. She tried to tell me I don't know what creamy Italian looks like by showing me their version of it (reg Italian dressing in the bottle - even the guy in the back kitchen asked her to pass the reg Italian for a diff sandwich and that's what she passed) Moral of this store is great heroes.. customer service could use some help. Had the greatest hero from this local shop. I ordered the "Curveball." It had pastrami, Swiss, homemade Russian dressing and homemade coleslaw. It was on the most delicious sesame seed hero. The owner said the bread is all baked fresh at a local bakery. I tried their famous "fried Mac and cheese balls" which were great!! It comes with a spicy dipping sauce. I tried their new "Fried Nana Rolls".... everyone needs to try them. They are essentially a fried egg roll with banana and Nutella. The shop is in the perfect location for picking up lunch before heading to Robert Moses beach in the summer. I will be returning!! read more

I was excited to try Hometown Heroes but was unfortunately very disappointed. I ordered 2 wraps and a hero. The hero was fine, nothing great. The wraps were most disappointing, and quite skimpy. The California Club Wrap was mostly lettuce and avocado, had absolutely no bacon, and a very little bit of tomato. The Veggie Wrap was mostly onions, missing the roasted red peppers, and had one little piece of tomato. read more

During these trying times HH has been providing excellent service and food the the area. The wife and I on multiple occasions had their sandwiches and salads for dinner. They are not cheap with the meat. They pack the sandwich well. The salads are very tasty with their secret sauce. If you had a long day and need a quick dinner option, give them call. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. We order from hometown here all of the time 2x a week. The food is always delicious. We got take out. It not only was 100% wrong but the food is drowning in dressing. no one wanted to even try it that's how disgusting the amount of dressing. we called to let them know and the "manager" said " we are not remaking that it is a waste of our product" I've never ever experienced such horrible service and just a nasty response from someone who is supposed to manager a store. I am so disappointed all 40 of our employees will never ever order from here again! order from small businesses. they respect their customers and actually appreciate their business. these people are disgraceful. read more

Would always get take out from here with co-workers until one day they said we couldn't ring up orders separately. I called spoke with the manager and owner. I couldn't believe my ears when they could care less to lose 150 to 200 a week in sales because they felt it was holding up the line what for an extra five minutes.! Horrible customer service. I had heard about this place for awhile and about all the nice things they do for their community, so i decided to give them a shot. Ordered a 6 foot hero for a little Halloween gathering yesterday. Got half american and half italian. The kids who work there all seemed to be nice and I was helped by a gentleman named Ronnie, who was nice enough to carry the sandwich out for me. The sandwich itself was magnificent. Bread is great and it was worth every penny. So, despite the fact that this place is a 20 minute drive east from me, ill be going back whenever I need something from a deli. Excellent food, excellent service. read more

Finally tried this place after drooling over their IG pictures. Was a little confused at first as I saw images on the site, but then couldn't find the items on the menu (The Q &Bella). The menu selection is so large that each time I thought I knew what I wanted, I'd scroll down and change my mind again. After being yelled at for taking too long by my friends, I couldn't decide on just one, so I ordered a few cold sandwiches so I could take breaks in between eating. I have tried their heros, salads and wraps within the last two weeks and from what I've tasted; delicious! The people that take your orders are always pleasant to deal with. I work in the area and saw them on Instagram and I knew I had to give the place a try. Truthfully I was not thrilled any of the times I had the food. The sandwiches have small amounts of meat and cheese and they don't listen very when you have special requests for the sandwiches. Prices are not worth the amount of food you get. The owner is a very nice man. Loyal to customers. However I feel there can be more meat on the sandwiches. The bread to meat ratio is too much. However the wings are great. I prefer wraps to heroes and all the staff is friendly. With the exception of two regular staff members, the rest are always young kids in and out. Too much of a turn over rate. Would like to see more of the same faces. They have a great rewards program on the food you buy, you earn points towards free food. Call it a buy back if u will. I would open earlier and expand on my breakfast menu but that's just my opinion. They only serve eggs until noon which confuses me because the grill should be on all day. They also don't have a big egg selection. It's more of a lunch and dinner menu. However with all that said I will continue to serve the local business because of the wonderful staff and the timely fashion in which u can get a decent sandwich. Hope this was helpful. I went here yesterday and got two wraps. They were the tiniest wraps I have ever seen. It was hard finding the chicken in the wraps. I ordered a wrap from their menu and made no changes to it and was charged extra for peppers in the wrap, even though it came with it..... what logic is that??? The service was incredibly slow too, I needed to be ask to be rung up when my sandwiches were done. They were sitting next to the cash register and the counter women were just standing around. very annoyed. chicken doesn't taste fresh. dry, overcooked but reheated, bacon.. how many times did you reheat? lettuce. shredded any thinner it would be hair. mozzarella sticks. box store brand rather than fresh home style like before.. what happened to the really awesome triangles? not enough gravy when asked for extra. same with mayo and cheese.. and you have chicken salad. you should sell people 1/4 and 1/2 on the side.. never been to a place that wouldn't. then again. the rest of the food was mediocre so Im sure that is too.. Im a local. I hope this place changes owners again.. it was better before. guess Im driving out of town again... sigh. read more
