The Primo - monthly special with Porchetta, sharp provolone, broccoli rabe and Calabrian chile. Yes, it was as amazing as it sounds...
    Chip P.

Took a break from the specials this month, so me and three of my friends at work ordered the Cugine, Verrazano, 18th Ave and Capo and had them cut in fours so we could each try them. Simply amazing! Culinary works of art by Chef David. It was my first time trying the Cugine, and it was as advertised by all my friends - perfectly sliced and cooked eggplant and salami bread that makes it outrageously good. The cutlet on the 18th was to die for. The Verrazano sausage and broccoli delivered on all the flavors you'd want and expect. And the Capo was huge - best Italian I've had in a while. So glad we got to try out so many of the on-menu items!

I was looking for a new sandwich place, and stumbled upon this gem. The eatery was adorned with mementos that not only set a comfortable ambiance, but gave you an insight to the culture and care that goes into the food. Service was prompt. We tried the 67th Street sandwich (grilled chicken, broccoli rabe); the chicken was juicy and tender, and the sandwich was so stuffed the bread was holding on for dear life. The second sandwich was their Italian; bread was crispy and the sandwich itself was stuffed to the gills! But the crown jewel was the Cugine. The eggplant was fried perfectly, and the sandwich had the entire spectrum of flavors and textures. Topped with an amazing bread, this was my favorite I've already planned my next visit to this place. You honestly cant miss with this place

Here's the Verrazano. Tastes as good as it looks. Also took home meatball dinner and stuffed shells for dinner later. All about $15 each. So two meals for two for half the price dinner in a restaurant.

Breakfast hit the spot this morning! Thank you other Yelp reviewers for recommending this gem! Had the Cadillac and Stevie's Special because we wanted to try two things but we are bringing home half of each these sandwiches are massive and delicious - what an amazing value! Eggs cooked perfectly. We preferred the Cadillac as it's meat and veg were nicely balanced. Ordered the Stevie's on recommendation from other Yelp reviewers, it was good but mild flavored. Good if that's what you like! Semolina bread outstanding. Cold brew is bold and excellent. Would definitely like to go back for lunch. Like right now.

As previous reviews mention, the inside is decorated to look like you're on a patio in Tuscany. It's deceptively large inside, and we sat all the way at the back around the corner. The waitstaff were very efficient and pleasant, giving my boyfriend and I time to look over the menu but coming soon after we'd set them down on the table. After some complimentary bread and very tasty garlic knots, we started with one of their appetizer specials to share, and were very pleased with it. It had fresh grilled Italian sausage served over garlicky cannellini beans and broccolini. Everything was balanced and well prepared. For our dinner we both got pasta; I got the butternut squash agnolotti (de zucca) with butter and sage, and he got the ricotta cavatelli bolognese. The bolognese was delicious, but I felt like the squash agnolotti needed something else to make it a proper dinner. The filling is just squash puree, no cheese, and the melted butter sauce is very very decadent. I would get something a bit more filling next time, but other than that I enjoyed my meal and our experience!

I reserved ahead of time for my husbands birthday just for the two of us and let them know that and asked for an intimate/quiet table. They took that to heart. We got a great table in the back corner where we could both sit next to each other on the booth seat. They also put a candle in the tiramisu we ordered. He had chicken parm, it was a big portion. He said it was good but he would probably get steak next time as we saw it at the table next to us and it looked amazing. I got the cacio e pepe. So delicious. We shared the French fries, house bread and fingerling potatoes. So so delicious. The aioli with the fries was flavorful, the butter with the house bread was delicious. Our drinks were strong and wonderful. I got the Ms Loren for the cucumber and he got the honey bourbon which is not normally my type but it was so smooth. The tiramisu was delicious. We would definitely go again. There's a lot of indoor seating and very cute outdoor seating. There's valet parking but we ended up parking on the street a block up. Would recommend to dress up and enjoy a beautiful night out.

I remembered the restaurant so fondly and I've always wanted to go back since I moved out of LI. This weekend when I was visiting with my husband, I wanted to take him there because of how great it was the first time we went. We were able to grab a reservation for four people at 4 PM (which is pretty tough otherwise). Our server was nice and drinks were good but it didn't feel like that elevated experience that I once had here. The most disappointing part was that all of the food lacked so much flavor. We ordered the frito misto, the taglioni? (Pecorino cake style appetizer), salad, pappardelle, NY strip steak, roasted chicken. I felt like everything but the taglioni and salad lacked so much flavor and depth. I recall enjoying their food and having such an extraordinary experience the first time around, and this just felt like really basic food at a premium price point. I'm hoping it's a one off thing based off of circumstances outside their control, but I don't think I'd be going back anytime soon

We got the butternut squash which sounded very fancy on the menu but was just butternut squash with a piece of fried prosciutto stuck in each portion on top of cacio e pepe sauce which by the way was broken. We also got what we thought was going to be artichokes on a bed of arugula but was mostly arugula with a few small pieces of artichoke and some pistachios. It was bland, definitely needed some vinegar or lemon or something. Not worth the price, I could have thrown that together myself at home. We also had the spinach/pear salad. Again, I could have made that at home. I got the lemon shrimp linguine. I liked the pasta, I liked the sauce, I did not like the shrimp that came with it. They were tiny and maybe boiled, just not great. We also had the ravioli. One big extremely dense ravioli, raviolo or whatever a singular one is technically called. It was ok but so dense and rich. We also had the bolognese. Not the best. For the prices we paid we expected greatness. We each had dessert. So for the 3 of us the bill came to almost $300 with tip. I personally felt like the service did not warrant the tip but we left it anyway. We weren't checked on, we had to wait a long time to get the bill and we paid by phone app. The service wasn't great. I think the best part of the entire night was the little bucket of candy that we got with the check. The gummy butterfly was delicious! No, we won't be back.
