As far as bar stops go when you're at P&L, County Road Ice House probably isn't the first one on…read morethe list. No, this is more of a sit-yourself-down kind of place, instead of being a make-your-way-to-the-bar-for-yet-another-drink kind of place. But they serve up some Joe's Kansas City BBQ, so you know they've got a reason to pull you in. Nothing says Kansas City quite like smoked meats & fabulous sauces, so get comfy & sample a Z-Man. There is plenty else on the menu, but if you're vegan or vegan-ish, then good luck or maybe have a cheat day. The BBQ is fantastic and Ice House has added their own bar & grille twists, so you have options beyond smoked meats. Seating is pretty good, and with both a wraparound bar and table service, there are plenty of options. As is the norm these days, there are screens in all directions, so you just don't miss a single moment of sportsball if that's your jam. P&L is a jammed up place when events are happening, so if you can find yourself a spot to sit and enjoy, then that's a win. County Road offers that and more, and it's only real knock is the service levels, which can be slow at busy times. But hey, if you have a seat and maybe a drink, then wait just a few extra minutes for servers to plow their way through the bar crowd. Definitely worth it for the BBQ alone.

Underwhelming BBQ. The brisket was more like subpar deli lunch meat…read more If you're in the immediate area, which is fun, this is an acceptable place to eat. If you're visiting the U.S., do not let this be your first or only taste of BBQ.

It was a rainy day and I'd been out running errands all over town. I knew we needed a few things at…read morethe liquor store and I was dreading making another stop on this dreary Friday evening during rush hour, when I was making my way down the road and literally pulled up right next to Plaza Liquor. If memory serves me correctly this used to be an old berbiglia spot. Just thinking about those stores takes me back to my early 20s and thinking about how much KC has changed in a decade. At any rate, I pulled over, dodged some rain, and came inside. Now, anyone who remembers Berbiglias in KC might remember them as I do - kind of basic, a bit dirty, and the kind of place that you just kind of tolerated. I mean, I was in my twenties so I didn't know liquor stores could be nice and have variety, but now I do, and boy was I glad when I walked in the doors and found out that this newly redone Plaza Liquor is NICE. Not only is the interior nice, the folks working are super friendly, and they have an incredible selection. I found some craft beers from STL that my husband hadn't been able to find in a long time at liquor stores closer to our house, and they of course carried a good variety of wine and liquor as well. Overall this one is a great little neighborhood liquor store, and is definitely one I'll return to if I'm once again needing to pick up a bottle of wine on the way home.

I stopped by here, while walking back to the hotel, and they have the BEST selection. Also, the…read morestaff is super friendly and knowledgeable on what the store carries. Very good prices too!

When you walk in you'll be transported to a massive, brick, community spirited beer hall. To enter the beer hall you'll need to walk up the stairs to the 2nd floor. To order you'll walk up to the counter and place your order. I ordered a tank 7 which was so good off the tap. Once you order it's open seating throughout the beer hall. Definitely check out this beer hall if you are in KC. By far the best beer in KC!

Playing shuffleboard in the rec deck the summer it opened, taking engagement photos, being so excited about the Quirk line from the beginning and seeing it grow to what it is now. Having a drink, snack, or eating one of the yummy Reuben sandwiches in the beer hall is always enjoyable. Plentiful seating (inside and out), great views of the city, and so many options for everyone. You have to stop by the merch to check out their adorable sweatshirts, tshirts, cups, glasses, wall art (etc). You have to try out the new outside deck that was put in for the World Cup. It's amazing. If you're ever in Kansas City - make sure to put this on the list to check out.
