We had my mother-in-law over for a visit and tried to find a place to show off the Kennebunk area. Easy to get to, on the main road, and parking on the street is available for dining. It has the old victorian/farmhouse feel on the outside and with the lights, was perfect for the holidays. The inside was a bit odd, as it was a large space with tables. Maybe they use the space for weddings and dance parties, but with the bright lights, it was not a setting for a romantic meal. But that is me. The menu offered options for our group and we enjoyed our meal it go us ready for our walk around the Kennebunkport area. Thank you. read more

Overall it was a nice experience. Angela at the front desk was super helpful! We told her what our interests were and she marked all the spots on a map that she thought would fit the bill for us. She's full of knowledge about the area! The location is great, right on Main Street and walking distance to some good restaurants (as they couldn't accommodate us for dinner), a wine house, French bakery, and many shops. The room was clean and simple. The room didn't have a fridge, but the staff let us put the food we had in their kitchen refrigerator, so that was nice. read more

Ordered lobster rolls via Goldbelly last week and they were great! Four pre-set lobster meat portions and four hearty rolls were included...plus sides of butter and mayo. I heated the rolls in the toaster oven with a schmear of butter, tossed the lobster in a pan with some (more) butter for a quick heat and....voilà-done. It was a good treat for sure. read more

This is a beautiful little inn. Of course everything creeks and squeaks lol which adds to the charm. Mary and Angela at the front desk were absolutely wonderful, full of suggestions and very pleasant. I encountered another young lady at the front desk when I was there I did not catch her name, but she was wonderful as well. Next time I am hoping to try the Tavern there. read more

Where to start.....This is not an Inn its an Old Rooming House or a Hostle complete with all the musty and moldy smells. The room was small and dingy and totally atrocious. The bed looked like it had an egg crate for a mattress. The furniture was straight from the Salvation Army Store free isle. The closet was made with what looked like old pallets. A space heater plugged into the bathroom over the sink holding the broken door open. Hardwood floors looked grimy, stained and totally unwashed. There is no way we were going to stay the night there... and this is no exaggeration. The only positive is the girl at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful as she could be. This room has a large and comfortable bed with clean and soft sheets. The bed occupies most of the room, accompanied by two bedside tables, a mirror/table to get ready, a desk, large closet, and private bathroom. The space was very clean and the staff were welcoming upon our arrival. If you arrive later, the bar and restaurant will likely be closed and you'll need to enter via a side entrance. This is fine, and takes you by the inn's patio where you can relax and enjoy nature. The inn is also equipt with several spaces to sit and relax, read a book, play board games, etc. in addition to their dining and bar spaces. Complimentary parking is available towards the back of the inn, which was very convenient. Several breakfast and lunch/dinner spots are within walking distance, as well as a bar, Duffy's and a bowling alley. The inn provided us 10% off our breakfast at 3 select nearby restaurants. If you're expecting to spend time in Kennebunkport - please be advised this is not a walkable distance. You'll be a short 10-15 minute drive to get to the bars, restuarants, shops, and beaches. However, it is a quick drive and on our visit, we had no problems finding nearby parking in Kennebunkport. read more

This has always been our family's secret spot to get away from tourists in the summer and have an amazing meal with excellent service. I usually get the Crab Ravioli, it's incredibly delicious with a tiny little hint of curry that brings out the sweetness in the crab. But last night everything changed. My sister ordered the Baked Haddock, which I've never tried because it's pretty much the same wherever you go. I can't believe she even let me have a bite knowing how good it was. I had one bite and didn't even want to finish my own dinner. I was a little angry to be honest, why isn't the baked haddock the only thing on the menu? Why didn't my server tell me? By far hands down best baked haddock I've ever had in my life. That's it, that's all. Just go eat it, and you better come back and rate my review as useful. You're welcome. read more

This hotel is beyond horrific! It's not even habitable, and should be condemned. I made a huge mistake, thinking it's close to my restaurant reservation at the White Barn and now I'm up at 1 am writing a review as I wait for the sun to rise so I can check out! Honestly, I fear that I might actually die in my sleep if I laid down to rest. I keep going outside to get some oxygen, the windows do not open. It's musty, dusty, smelly, and the paint is chipping off the wall. The wallpaper is falling off the wall and there are dead leaves inside the room! The bathroom grout is black, the furniture looks like it's from a yard sale and my eyes are burning. Do not stay here! I am about to go sleep in my car but I'm hopeful the sun will rise soon. They totally ruined my wonderful meal at the White Barn Inn because I'm facing a sleepless night and my asthma is flaring up. I'm not sure how long the effects of this room are going to damage my health. Absolutely the most disgusting experience of my entire life! Do not think for one minute that's it's just a case of 'old New England historic charm', it should be demolished and there is no excuse for this condition, not should they be allowed to charge for it! read more

Staying at the Kennebunk Inn and unfortunately the service was awful. Couldn't accommodate dinner. They were at full capacity ( if full capacity means 4 people sitting for dinner). Decent place for a night's sleep - but too many quirks that bothered me! For starters disappointed that the restaurant was closed the whole 3 nights/4 days, I was there. Thought there would have been some food or drink service for guests. Moving up to the room the floors are loud and creaky and the walls are so thin I could hear the people snoring next door. Lastly, I found it annoying that I couldn't open or close my bedroom door with one hand you had to have the key twisting in the lock the exact time you moved the doorknob. read more

Burgers babies and Phineas The Kennebunk Inn is a cool old building that was built back in 1799 by a fellow named Phineas Cole. It started out as a private residence but has gone through a heap of changes throughout the years. It changed hands and names and was even a doctor's office at one time. Over a thousand babies were born in this building over the years but eventually the venerable old building became an inn and restaurant. It is a lovely place and although I never stayed in the inn part it certainly does look quaint. The restaurant area is on the first floor and has a very cool and relaxed but sort of elegant look to it. It even has a resident ghost that is said to rattle things and drop glasses from time to time. The winter lunch menu wasn't huge but it did have some interesting things on it. I decided to be boring and just get a cheeseburger. It turned out to probably be the best cheeseburger I ever had. I don't eat burgers very often and certainly don't have refined tastes but this burger was superb. Tender and incredibly tasty, it was a real joy to eat and even I could tell the difference between this delightful burger the usual crappy fast food burgers that I usually have. The place was empty when we were there but the server was friendly and very attentive. Maybe she was just happy to see anyone but she really seemed like she enjoyed her work. The Kennebunk Inn wasn't exactly inexpensive but certainly not unreasonable considering the quality of the food and the very cool ambiance. And if you are really lucky you might even get to see a ghost. read more

This was our first (and definitely not our final) visit to the newly renovated and reopened Kennebunk Inn Tavern. The dining room is bright and pleasant. The tables are spread out so that there is plenty of social distancing between diners. The menu provides a good variety to choose from and the prices are reasonable for a quality meal. The service and food were outstanding. Although the Tavern and Bar area are only open Thursday thru Saturday, they do plan to expand days with added staff. The Tavern is conveniently located on Main Street in the heart of downtown Kennebunk. Highly recommend this restaurant when in the area. read more

Do not be confused! This hotel is not the Kennebunkport Inn. Very misleading and when we mistakingly went to the other hotel- the front desk staff said that people book this property (Kennebunk Inn) quite often on accident. Overall this hotel was ok- a bit out of the way and very simplistic with very simple rooms. The empty sour cream container on top of the fridge was very classy (perhaps to catch a ceiling leak?) Bed was comfy- road traffic a bit loud. Would not recommend as its out of the way and with that being the case- they should overcompensate and make the rooms luxurious and appealing instead of bland and unwelcoming. My wife and I met another couple for lunch, so this review will be limited to the restaurant. When we arrived at 12:30, it wasn't at all crowded. The restaurant is small ( maybe 15 tables) and very attractively decorated. We were seated at a table by the front window, which provided a great view of downtown Kennebunk. The luncheon menu, while relatively small, had many attractive offerings. My wife and I had the haddock sandwich, which came with a combination of onion rings and French fries. It was delicious. One of the other guests ordered a chicken club and the fourth guest ordered a Reuben - both entrees received good reviews. Our waitress was both pleasant and efficient. The restaurant has a full bar - including several beers on tap. We felt the bar prices to be a bit high. For examples, my wife had a glass of white wine and the charge was $9.50. I am writing because I was very disappointed in our stay and the service at this Inn. I had recently had knee replacement and hip replacement and had requested a room on the 1st floor as stairs are very difficult. We were give a room on the third floor. There was no closet for us to hang our suits or long dresses that we had brought for the wedding we were attending. We had recommended this Inn to 16 of our relatives and after seeing their rooms, we were even more disappointed. I went down to the front desk and the woman was very nice and moved us to a room on the second floor. At least this one had a closet. We were the first ones out of the family to book here and referred relatives to this place and we got the crappiest room. All the rest had king size beds and sitting rooms and mini fridges and nice bathrooms. I called to see if we could get some type of compensation for the poor accommodations and was told by the manager that where I booked thru travelocity, there was nothing she could do. I would highly recommend not booking with this Inn as they were not even able to help someone out who had a health issue. We also left our dirty towels in the hallway to be replaced and my husband had to go looking for some himself in the morning because they picked up the dirty ones but never left clean ones. read more

The building is a New England Classic. Inside is well maintained and very pretty. The Inn and Tavern is presently under new management (2022). The executive chef, Nick, is amazing. The service was fantastic. Our waitress paid attention but wasn't constantly in our face. She knew when to step in and when to step back. We were there for a company dinner and we ordered from the menu. Everyone ordered something different. Our salads were crisp and fresh, our meals were well prepared, hot, delicious and everyone's meal was served timely. The prices were very reasonable. I can't say enough good about this place. Meh. I've experienced better. Yep, that sums up the Kennebunk Inn. I'm a fan of traditional Inns, but you can tell that the owners simply don't care that much. The wallpaper was peeling off in our room, the comforter was stained, the chaise in the room had water stains, and even the furniture appeared as if no one was caring for it. The room was all hardwood, but the afterthought bathroom was appointed in very cheap vinyl, with the type of metal thresholds that you would expect to see in a warehouse bathroom. In addition, it was set up such that there was no light at all near the rusting shower, so any bathing is done in the dark. In addition to the rust, there was an exposed bare pipe in the shower. I do understand that when you retrofit modern amenities into older structures that compromises need to be made, but there are much more aesthetically pleasing ways to use. We had dinner in the restaurant, and the mediocrity continued. The Guinness draught was stale, and the chicken croquettes were tasteless. For the money this dinner cost, a meal at a chain would have been better. The last annoyance was that although they had free wi-fi, it was impossible to sign on. I don't mind paying premium prices for a premium experience, but this would have been too much money at half the price. read more

Where do I begin? Probably the worst place I've ever stayed. I'm all for quaint, but this place needs some serious help. The room size.. ridiculously small. It barely fit the bed, I could touch the ceiling (and I'm short), and the tv was barely bigger than my tablet. Cleanliness: terrible. I inspected the insanely small room as soon as I got in. There were 3 curly black hairs on the sheet of the bed and multiple hairs in the shower. The air conditioner was a wall unit and the clean filter light was on, I woke up feeling really junky. Gross. Gross. Gross. I just felt gross the entire stay. The staff were nice, but facility wise, definitely not worth the $122 I paid. The only benefit was the location, right in the middle of Kennebunk, and a Perfecto's right next door for breakfast with 10% off if you showed them your key. Also they did have a nice porch, which I escaped to because I felt so claustrophobic in my room. read more

My mom and I were in the mood for some dessert. My mom suggested this restaurant as she lives down the street. We walked in to the bar area and were ignored. We finally got water. We then had to inform him that we would actually like to eat something, i.e., dessert. It would have been nice if he asked. We received the dessert menus and then got to watch the bartender (our waiter), Patrick, run around like a chicken with its head cut off. We both were exhausted just watching him ineffectively attempt his job. We had to then stop him and tell him we were ready to order. A significant amount of time lapsed and the desserts came out. I ordered the sampler and my mom ordered some chocolate peanut butter thing, which was also on my sample platter. The desserts were fair. I will not be getting any confections from this restaurant nor recommend them. We had to ask for our bill, which we paid. We tipped 15% and I am upset we tipped at all now that I am recalling this evening. My mom has been before and has had much better service and good food (no dessert). I'm surprised this restaurant survives with this service. Who knows, it may have just been and insane night or Patrick may have just started working as a bartender. Dessert 1 star Service 0 stars (unfortunately this is not an option) This was just my experience. Apparently music is too loud and while we turned it down, we continue to get harassed, turned it down the second we heard that there is an issue but yet they continued to come to the door. Watching Celtics kick butt. Told not to yell. Seriously?! This is ridiculous. Because one loud mouth b.... has to complain. And we have rented two rooms? Never recommend this place. Apparently you aren't allowed to even breathe because it's too loud. And you complain about music at 9PM but yet have tennis outside at 9AM. Seriously?! For the cost of over $200 for the room for 1 night I honestly expected more. It is an older building and could be really done up nice if some money was spent to update a bit. Very drab and no character in the room. Road noise was loud and A/C made a racquet all night. Not a bad drive to downtown Kennebunkport and out of the chaos/reception was friendly as well. read more

I really enjoyed my 3-night stay here over labor day weekend. I love the character of inns and this one was certainly cute. The inn is located in Kennbunk, which is about a 6-7 minute country drive to the town of Kennebunkport. Although it would have been nice to stay across the street from the action, we weren't going to pay $200+ to stay in the middle of the tourist filled streets. Our inn was quiet and comfortable. They have apparently done renovations of things like the bathrooms and painting, but it is still VERY old so if that's not your thing, then don't stay here. We didn't mind the creaking steps and window AC units, but you might and should know that's how it is. The employees are very friendly and helpful and the rooms are cleaned impeccably every day. The beds are comfortable and they use nice linens and pillows. There's also great bath products. We checked in a little early and got upgraded to a larger room which consisted of two bedrooms and a bathroom. Nice! The coffee, tea and juice service in the morning is a nice touch. They have great coffee and wonderful Harney & Sons teas for guests to enjoy. They set everything up in a separate dining area so you can bring your own cereal or pick up breakfast sandwiches from Perffecto's next door to eat with your coffee. Overall I had a wonderful experience and would recommend the inn to anyone!! The inn is located on a main road, however, so I wouldn't recommend it if you have young kids who like to run around outside. read more

I work on Main street and was craving a burger. Today happens to be Harvest Fest, and the street is mobbed. I couldn't leave my post for long. The font desk was very courteous and warm, took my order and had it ready as I was walking through the door. I returned to work with my burger and fries, and I have to say, this was the best burger I've ever had. The service was awesome, and it was packaged with care. I spent a weekend in Maine with friends this March and I cannot say enough good stuff about the staff at this Inn. They were the friendliest most helpful people I have come across while traveling in a long time (and I travel a lot for work). I was due to stay in a pet friendly suite with two other friends and their dogs. When we arrived at the hotel we realized that the pet friendly suites did not have kitchenettes as we originally thought. Since the three of us traveling have specific food needs access to a fridge is important. I went back to the front desk who called the owner and they decided to give us a second suite with the kitchenette to use at no extra charge! I can't guarantee they'll do that for everyone, but the fact they did it this once was amazing. They didn't have to do it, they wouldn't have lost our business, but now they have it for life. Pluses: --Pet friendly! A rare find in this area. Though not all the rooms allow pets so if you don't want to be around them, or don't want to be near the pet hair that won't be a problem, either. The front desk woman even made sure to keep our cell phone numbers on hand in case the dogs barked while we were gone. --Staff, friendly, helpful, and willing to go the extra mile. They brought me bowls for my morning hot cereal, ice for our breakfast shakes, left towels outside our room when we left up the "do not disturb sign", and made sure we had a room with a kitchen. --Location, right in downtown, near shops and restaurants, only 4 miles or so from Kennebunk Beach where I like to run. --Coffee and tea in the morning (tea includes Harney & Sons, my personal favorite!). --Parking was ample and easy to find, at least in March. Not sure what it'd be like during the summer. Minuses: --No breakfast, though there are plenty of local places and few offer discounts for guests staying there. --Older home, this isn't really a minus, but it's not really a plus either... Just worth mentioning. It's older and got pretty cold in our room, I couldn't figure out how to work a radiator. Luckily they provided a space heater in the bedroom, and the person sleeping on the daybed gets hot flashes and didn't need it LOL. Also in our room on the third floor (37) there were some exposed pipes that taller people might hit their head on in the hallway and the shower. Luckily I'm only 5 foot 8 and made it without a problem. read more
