Went to Hondos for lunch today. They have 12 lunch specials under $12. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety. The service was wonderful and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is very nice, it is a little more upscale than most restaurants. For today's visit I had the meatloaf. I am not a fan of most restaurants meatloaf. This meatloaf was very excellent and was not full of fillers. This lunch menu is full of great choices and I can't wait to go back and try something else.

I came during lunch and they had a lunch special menu where I ended up ordering the grilled salmon ($17). Food came out in about 15 minutes and it was quite good. The seasoning was excellent while also not being overly salty. It was quite moist, and the salmon split apart with ease with a fork. The vegetables were sautéed very well. The mashed potato was super smooth and buttery. A very balanced meal for lunch that filled me up without weighing me down afterwards. Staff and service were above average just took a bit of time to get the check and bill paid for. Overall I was surprised by the lunch special offerings as it was super affordable and delicious! Seafood Bisque - so flavorful with tons of crabmeat

Couldn't have asked for a better dinner at Hondo's. Everything from the food to the service to the ambiance was 10 out of 10. We had a company holiday celebration, so our party was rather large, therefore we opted/were offered the pre-fixed "Celebration Menu"/course dinner. The Appetizer Platters One and Three were amazing - SO much food for our table that we were all pretty full by the time our first course came. The fried calamari and crab cakes were cooked to perfection. The ahi tuna and lemon pepper scallops were also uniquely fantastic. We each had plenty to take home from just these two platters. I opted for the seafood bisque soup (SO tasty with chunks of crab) and Caesar salad (nothing special). The chocolate torte dessert was basically a giant piece of fudge - creamy and delicious. The whipped butter, however, was the pièce de résistance. If I could buy a bulk order of that butter, I would pay an unreasonable amount for it. Nick was also a wonderful, patient, and attentive host and waiter to us all. Thanks Hondo's!

My wife and I made reservations here for a special occasion. We were seated on arrival and the overall service was very good. There was a long delay from being seated to actually getting drinks... but after that it went well. We both ordered steaks(of course). The steaks were good but honestly not what we thought based on the bill total. We will probably go back and try again but maybe after we try a few other steak spots in the area.

Unfortunately, I our experience and expectations fell short. The food was ok. The service was good. The restaurant is laid out nicely and the bathrooms were clean. Slow to get mixed drinks. Overall most of the meal was tasteless. The bone in filet was cooked medium rare and tender but fell short on flavor. Wine selection was good. Very expensive meal for an experience. I called it up as a great dinner with family and that is priceless. The best and most flavorful part of the meal was the haystack onion rings. I wish I could have been a bit more satisfied with the flavors. Just simply bland.

We went to Hondo's for my dad's birthday. We all ordered the filet mignon cooked different temps and all were cooked to perfection. Since my parents split a steak, we added more side dishes. One side dish is enough for 2 healthy portions or 3 decent size portions so it worked great. We got the garlic mashers, asparagus and some mixed veggies. The garlic mashed potatoes were my favorite followed by the asparagus. The steak was heavenly. Then they brought this poundcake desert out for my dad. I'm not sure which impressed him more, the steak or the special dessert. We will definitely be back!

For special occasions, our top choice for a steakhouse in Richmond is Hondo's. We also have a favorite server named Jeff, who always enhances our experience. Every visit is consistently perfect--fine dining at its finest. We're never disappointed!

Got to check this place out while in VA for Father's Day weekend. We happened to go on a Sunday which is when they host their Jazz Brunch. It's pretty extensive buffet brunch and there were a lot of yummy food options. I tried stuffed french toast, grits, scrambled eggs made by chef attendant, biscuits, lamb, gnocchi, ribs, and some type of cake with fruit in it for dessert. I also ordered a bloody mary. Whew! LOL, that sounds like so much food. It was a buffet so I just got small portions of all of this and indulged. Everything was really delicious! My favorites were the stuffed french toast and the gnocchi dish. These were just really well prepared and yummy. I enjoyed all the different options and layout. One complaint is that the placement for the omelette station is very awkward and causes a major pileup constantly in the main entrace area. It was pretty hectic and very busy to get around in that area. Overall, it was well worth the traffic. I got to try so much food and I'd go back!

We came here for a birthday dinner. I received a gift of one free entree. What a great deal. Started with the seafood bisque. It is filled with delicious crab. A great bisque. The bread is great and the butter is flavored with honey. Really good. The house salad is great. It has blue cheese and carrots and cucumbers with several types of greens. I had the balsamic dressing. Also great. Spouse had the Caesar salad. Which he enjoyed Our server is Josh. Excellent service. the ribeye steak was excellent. Dessert is next. I got the chocolate torte and spouse got the cheesecake. Served on one plate to say happy birthday. Desserts were great.

It took over 20 minutes for our waitress to come over and greet us, and that wasn't even to take our drink orders. It was so long that we debated leaving, however we remember how good it was, so decided to stick the wait out. I should've taken the nearly empty restaurant as a sign. That's was my mistake. Might've been one of the longest meals of my life. The staff- who claim to be short staffed (which could very well be, I'm not downplaying that), however they frequently stood in front of the TV watching whatever sports game was on it... interesting. When we tried to get our waitresses attention (multiple times this occurred), we got a nasty side eye and she walked away and ignored us (lovely ). When we did finally get our meals, items of it were cold or incorrect (shoutout my mashed potatoes which were physically hard). With that being said, the wings were good, would recommend those if you're going here. Don't order the tacos on the other hand... elote corn was obviously frozen- gross. Other items of the meal you could tell were previously frozen too. I will say they offered us a complimentary dessert which was nice, I was just really disappointed with this experience overall. In my opinion this restaurant needs to be renovated and menu needs to be cleaned up (and the freshness of the food should be revalued), this place is going downhill and experience reflects that.

When we first walked in, the place was pretty crowded, but we were able to grab a couple spots at the bar and figured we'd settle in for a good night. That's where things went sideways. The bartender appeared to be the only one working, and while I understand being busy, the attitude and behavior were honestly shocking. Every interaction felt aggressive. Remotes getting slammed around. Napkins and pens tossed onto the counter. Water being splashed onto the floor like a toddler throwing a tantrum. The entire atmosphere at the bar felt tense and uncomfortable. It got to the point where we almost felt awkward ordering anything because every request seemed like it was ruining their night. At one point another couple sat down next to us and almost immediately started looking around like, "is this really happening right now?" I actually ended up warning them that no, they weren't imagining it, and that it had been our experience the entire time too. That alone should tell you how uncomfortable the atmosphere was. Which is unfortunate because the kitchen actually did their part. The food was good. Really good. But good food only carries a place so far when the service makes you want to leave before the meal even arrives. I've worked in and around hospitality long enough to understand busy nights happen. But there's a huge difference between being overwhelmed and taking it out on customers. Tazza Kitchen has the food figured out. Now they just need the front of house experience to match it.

I got the arugula and proscuitto pizza last time. Someone at our table got that this time. It looked really dry. I ordered salmon because I thought you can't mess it up. It was just okay. The ambiance, it's like a typical mainstream place. Pretty cookie cutter. The parking lot is really tight. There really is nothing to recommend this place.
