Despite coming to this business (and their new location after the move from downtown SJ) multiple times with wonderful experiences, what pushed me to write this review today was the fact that I was unlucky enough to break my cartilage piece but lucky enough to save and keep it to bring it in. I came in with the broken piece and the associate explained that due to the jewelry company's bad customer service, they're no longer working with them. Instead of saying "too bad, there's nothing we can do", the associate worked with me to get credit that applied to a new piece. I feel like most shops would not provide any help in a situation like this. Already obsessed with their work, service, and inventory to begin with, this truly solidified me as a lifelong customer and champion of Make Me Holey.

We paid around $300, which I expected, but I'm not sure the experience justified the cost. One thing that stood out was the amount of information sent before the appointment and posted online. While I appreciate being informed, it felt overwhelming and difficult to navigate. The website and instructions could be simplified quite a bit. When we arrived, the owner came to our car wearing a large face shield mask, which honestly startled us. I think the appearance made everyone extra scared. Overall, the service was fine and the staff was patient, but I was expecting a warmer, more bubbly experience, especially for a business focused on babies and young children. The biggest disappointment was learning that a piercing gun was used. Because of that, I'm not sure we would return, but the experience wasn't bad enough to warrant a lower rating.

Piercing Nightmare: On May 28th, I visited Hone Piercing for my fourth lobe piercing. However, due to my anatomy, it was categorized as a cartilage piercing. The piercing itself was an abysmal experience. I believe I was pierced by Paul, who displayed a complete disregard for safety. He failed to locate blood vessels, resulting in excessive bleeding that dripped down my clothes. Astonishingly, he offered no assistance in cleaning the blood and expected me to do it myself, despite my limited visibility. It took the receptionist noticing his disgraceful neglect and intervening for me to receive any help. Three weeks later, a medium sized irritation bump developed. On June 22nd, I returned for its removal. Unfortunately, the piercer (possibly Jay) completely disregarded proper procedure. Instead of safe removal, they recklessly popped the bump, which was later confirmed to likely cause further complications. This "advice" resulted in the bump TRIPLING in size and becoming excruciatingly painful. Today, I returned solely to have the jewelry removed and met Kasra, the only seemingly competent person at this shop. She was clearly experienced, and handled the issue with care. She informed me that popping the bump likely caused more damage, and now may require surgical removal. She mentioned that the piercing should've been removed when it was half the size. After telling her I did and it was popped, she made a comment saying it was most likely Jay. This is wholly unacceptable due to the incompetence of previous staff. Avoid This Shop! The piercing process at Hone was appalling. I received unhelpful and dangerous advice that has left me with a potentially permanent scar. Do not even consider getting pierced here unless you want to risk infection and neglectful treatment. I will be pursuing further action to hold them accountable. read more

I've been to this shop 3-4 times before, and my past experiences were always good. Unfortunately, since they changed the front desk person, the service has gone downhill. On a previous visit, I waited almost 40 minutes because my name was never properly checked in, and no one apologized. This time, I was again helped by the same person and had another unpleasant experience. The attitude felt cold, dismissive, and rude. Getting a piercing can already be a nerve-wracking experience, so customers should be treated with patience and respect. Instead, I left feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. I've gotten my ears and both sides of my nose pierced from here now as well as a butterfly tattoo and I absolutely love the people here. They're extremely friendly, thoughtful and safe. They practice quality piercings as well as talk with you to make sure you like the piercing placement before continuing and make great effort to make your piercings symmetrical. I came in for a nostril piercing last week. I found it strange they only had 1 option for jewelry, but I let it go. After 24 hours it fell out of place and got stuck in my nose. It was painful and bloody. I called and they were closed, they offered for me to come in again on a different day. I went to another shop to fix it and they told me that L shaped hardware should not be used for piercing and it's a way to cut down costs. I had gotten some cartridge piercings around march and i had to take them out due to sports. I was scared my piercings closed and i was unable to to put them in so I went to Hone Piercings for them to put them back or repierce. Had my conch and nostril done here! The staff are so friendly and I thought it was unique that they make sure you eat before you get your piercing done, that's something I haven't seen very often as someone with 10 piercings. I loved the experience from start to finish, the pain was tolerable and they pierce on a deep breath out which subsides the anticipation. No swelling, irritation, or discomfort, which is a huge difference compared to piercings I've gotten elsewhere. We came from Watsonville all the way to their Bascom location Reason I chose to drive the distance is because my daughter suffers from severe anxiety and when she called Hone for information regarding piercing her lip a lady name Sondra helped my daughter and made her feel so comfortable. As we were hanging out waiting to get tattoos we both noticed they offered piercings. Weren't in the mood for some new holes at the moment but thought to ask about jewelry and see if there were any cute options. After talking with the piercer/tattoo artist and realizing her name was Sabrina I realized this was the person that used to work at a previous shop that had worked on me before and permanently damaged my friend and I, and ended up in the hospital with staph infections. I was so caught off guard and honestly so upset that this person is still actively piercing people that we left and didn't get our tattoos. I am still so scarred from the trauma that Sabrina caused me to endure and the hospital bills and pain I suffered. I'll attach photos below of what she did to me and the reviews I left for her from my previous encounter with her. Her Jewelry is extremely low quality, shes never there for you when you need help or issues with your piercing and extremely unreliable. PLEASE for the safety of your life, do NOT get pierced or serviced by Sabrina!!!!

When getting my rook done, she made me feel superrrr comfortable and I was super nervous about the pain level. It didn't hurt one bit! One of my favorite ear piercings. My belly piercing had more complications but that's happened before and Sabrina helped me out by changing it out to a longer bar for the swelling to go away. 10/10 WILL go again and I always recommend my friends coming here to get pierced. Good vibes all around, great place for body mods!!

Unfortunately, he's been fully booked and now focuses on larger pieces, so he wasn't available for mine. However, he introduced me to his colleague, Diem. I showed them what I had in mind, and Diem came up with an even better idea for my tattoo. It turned out amazing--she did a fantastic job. She was also very polite and answered all my questions. I haven't gotten any tattoos since Trung did my last one five years ago, but I will definitely come back for more from the artists here. They are highly skilled and really understand what you want. The pricing is also reasonable. The vibe in the shop is very quiet and warm. Diem even played great music while I was getting tattooed. 1000/10

If I remember correctly I came in on 8/1/25 and Nhi took care of getting me the paperwork to fill out and did the actual piercing. Before we even did it she asked me about where I wanted it and was very patient with me in making sure it was exactly where I wanted it. It took a couple of tries but I got it to where I want it. Nhi did an amazing job! I barely felt anything and the piercing came out great! I spoke to Trung after about possibly getting another tattoo finished/touched up so in time I'll make another appointment for that. Also, the shop is pretty small so I don't recommend bringing lots of friends. Overall I met Nhi and Trung and they're very chill and will work with you on getting what you want. Highly recommend this shop for all your tattoo/ piercing needs!
