Came for a quick lunch this afternoon at honest Mary's. I got the build your own bowl with arugula and basmati rice as the base. I got portobello mushrooms and corn as my two sides. I also got edamame and feta crumbles as my two toppings. I got the garlic sauce for my dressing. I would say that the food is clean and healthy. You can definitely tell it is all made with very clean ingredients. I would say if anything, the food is more on the bland side, but if you're looking for a quick and healthy meal, this is a good spot. There is an up charge for each additional side and topping over the two you were given, which can make the bowl end up being pretty pricey. Lastly, the interior is very nice. It altogether feels very clean, which is very fitting for this type of food. You order at the bar and seat yourself. It is a relatively quick process. read more

I drive by Honest Mary's ALL the time and decided to finally give it a try. I built my own bowl with grilled chicken, basmati rice, roasted brussel sprouts, baby portabella mushrooms, pickled onions, and crispy chickpeas. Maybe it's just that I didn't order the right thing, but I honestly wasn't the biggest fan of my bowl. Since you're limited to a certain number of sides (unless you're willing to pay extra), I personally think there are other similar spots where you can get more for the same price. The interior is beautiful, so it makes for a nice, chill spot for a lunch or dinner. And the service was pretty standard. In terms of parking, I parked in the garage across the street next to Barnes & Noble. There's also lot parking available, but it's only free for the first 30 minutes. Overall, I'd be open to coming back and trying something different, but my first experience wasn't all that impressive. read more

I have been wanting to try this new spot in River Oaks, imagine Cava concept but 10 times better! Just walking inside you notice how clean it is and they have a beautiful set up with umbrellas to sit outside when the weather allows it. The concept is a line of ingredients and you make your bowl, or choose from the menu. We dis our own bowl, and I live how their ingredients are so different from Chava and Chipotle, they have white, wild and black rice, greens and veggies. In the veggies bar they had roasted beets, sweet potatoes and mushrooms, but in big chunks not tiny pieces, the meets they have raw season tuna, grilled chicken, honey mustard chicken and steak. The staff is very attentive and guide you through the options. Parking is not a problem and it's free. This is definitely a great place to enjoy a flavorful and healthy meal! read more

Whew so this is the new health food store on the block. It apparently reigns from my home town ATX. I've never heard of it but I wanted to check it out because it was described as a health food place. I pull up and this shopping center is not great because it has limited parking. I get lucky and snag a close park. I walk in and to my immediate right there is a condiment station and then the menu up top. Alas. This place is essentially sweet green with fewer options. As a person that is pescatarian they only offer 3 options absent of meat. The poke tuna bowl portobello bowl and a veggie bowl. I tried the veggie bowl. Um yeah no. It was bland with odd flavor profiles and not very filling or appetizing. The mix of ingredients just didn't do it...the other option with the poke tuna doesn't give an option to cook the tuna. Anyrate I don't know that I would try it again. There are better salad bowl options in my opinion. read more

Heard about through the grapevine! Located in the same plaza as Pizanna. They have a good amount of seating indoors and outdoors as well. Very good on a a day with nice weather! Tried the Build Your Own Bowl w/ Garlic Pepper Steak. The meat itself was marinated well and flavorful. You're limited on the # of market sides and toppings (2 of each). On the plus side, no extra charge for avocado. For my base i got the black forbidden rice (good texture), market sides i got the roasted sweet potatoes and charred broccoli and for toppings i got the avocado and asian slaw. For my sauce, I opted for the chimichurri sauce and they give that to you on the side. Not super flavorful. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, it was just okay and filling. After being at Methodist all morning with my wife we were looking to get something somewhat on the cleaner side for lunch. Ai recommended Honest Mary's! Parking was crowded due to being in a tight strip center. A few free spots the rest you have to scan QR code, however first 30 minutes were free. The place itself was clean, Chipotle style, the servers were very friendly. We each got the garlic steak bowl. It was very flavorful. We had been waiting to try Honest Mary's as they were new to our neighborhood. The concept is a lot like Cava where you build your own bowl. They use fresh ingredients and the flavors on their toppings are unique. I came here with my girlfriend and we each did a build your own bowl. You can get a grain or veggies as your bowl base and then can select one meat. We got the lemon basil chicken as our meats. The chicken was very good so I highly recommend this I got the maple glazed carrots and curry roasted cauliflower as my sides and my girlfriend got the broccoli and Brussels sprouts. You also get your choice of two topping. I got the edamame and avocado. You also get to choose one sauce and I got the creamy poblano. The bowls were very high quality and you can taste the freshness in all of the ingredients. It is unfortunate that they only give you two sides and two toppings. Everything you add on top of that is extra but I understand the limit of sides and toppings with how much care they put into each side and toppings. The servers here are super nice and helpful. The variety of ingredients is also refreshing. The restaurant itself is very clean and well put together. We sat on the patio because it was a nice night out. The price here is reasonable for the quality of food you're getting. If it was unlimited bowl toppings, I would give this place 5 stars. We will be coming back here for sure. read more

My partner and I were shopping nearby and decided to stop here for lunch. Easy to locate, the restaurant's sign is huge up front. Parking: There is extremely limited parking infront of the restaurant, so I recommend parking in the Barnes & Nobles parking lot and walking over to this restaurant if parking is packed. Customer service: The people were nice. They did mentioned that they do not "mix" your salad for you even if you request for it and they can give you a lid so you can shake it up yourself. Food: it's a build-your-own-bowl style restaurant, like cava, sweetgreen, salata, leaf & grain, medocino, etc. I've been to most in Houston and I usually like all of them. I got the Za'atar Spring Bowl and my partner got the Smoky Pablano. You get one sauce for your bowl. Za'atar Spring Bowl - 3/5 Smoky Pablano - 4/5 I switched my bowl with my partner because their crispy chickpeas is unnecessarily harder than most crispy chickpeas I've ever encountered, I didn't want to risk cracking my tooth so I swapped my bowl, my partner also made a comment about the hardness of the chickpeas. So happy this place opened up right across the street from us, very impressed with freshness and quality. They have a great assortment of unique healthy ingredients and flavorful proteins and sauces.
