    Spicy Korean steak bowl
    Christina ..

I ordered the spicy Korean bbq steak bowl. The steak was cooked well and not too raw or well done. The portion size for meat is way too small. The roasted broccoli was good but the bowl was overwhelmed with shredded carrots which added nothing to the dish.

Nice place to hang out on Sunday not so busy after Sunday School. Awesome place to gather with family and friends. I'm so happy to come back time and time again. Nice and friendly employees.

    Hot Honey Chicken Hummus Bowl

I got a hot honey chicken + hummus bowl with crunchy tortilla chips. The house-baked tortilla chips were delicious! They were one of my favorite toppings. I did not really taste the hot honey in the hot honey sauce. I thought that another chop shop location was a bit more generous on the portions. There is ample seating inside and outside of this restaurant. We placed our order on the app and our order was done in a timely manner. The service was friendly!

I got the steak sandwich and overall the steak was dry and quite bland and we kept finding pieces of paper in my boyfriend club sandwich only 2 stars cuz the drink was pretty yummy

    Thai Coconut Chicken Bowl GF

I tried Chop Shop for the first time by ordering online. Ordering was easy, straightforward and I was happy to see pictures for all the options. I ordered a yelp fav - the Thai Coconut Chicken Bowl with the 2 bases being sweet potato hash and roasted veggies. I added an extra Thai coconut sauce for 50 cents. You can add/remove a variety of ingredients too. The seasonal lemonade I got (and most drinks) are only $1 if you order online! I was pleasantly surprised to see there was an online order pickup drive-thru. It looks like a repurposed bank drive thru, and you have to roll down your window on the right instead of the left, but someone comes out and brings your order out for you. I ordered mine to be ready at 11:45 AM (to beat the lunch rush) and I did not wait at all! I was in and out in less than a minute. Very fast and friendly. The portion was perfect and surprisingly very filling. I'm glad I ordered the extra sauce because I like my food extra flavorful. No complaints here! 10/10 experience.

Years of driving by in this area and had never noticed this place....but they might be new to the area. All i know is that this is the place to eat when you're out shopping in the Galleria area and you don't want to fight parking or people. I haven't been in the area around lunchtime, so my statement might be null & void around that time. lol Just a couple items off the menu have entered this pie hole and I'm always left with a smile and a nice, warm belly without all the carbs of most other places.

    Greek salad with chicken

Decided to try this place for lunch with and it has plenty of healthy options. Ordered the Greek salad with chicken and fresh made juice. Salad was tasty with homemade dressing; and love their juice bar. For quick healthy meals without all the bad gunk this is nice place to try for lunch or dinner.

The grinder sandwich was sooo good! It looks basic but the flavors were really unique! I ordered mine to go but there is indoor and outdoor seating. Pricing was a little high for a sandwich but I can understand due to inflation. Will return!

Came here for an early dinner because building bowls are trending. I ordered the Chicken teriyaki bowl with sauce on the side - this was exactly what I was hoping for. Bland and simple as if I cooked it at home. After eating out for a week, this was perfect. If you add the sauce I'm sure it's flavorful since my partner ordered the Spicy Korean steak bowl and that was saucy. There's more grain than protein in the bowls. I went with the sweet potato hash (lower in calories than brown rice) and 80% of the bowl was grain. 15% was vegetables and 5% was protein. Ofc I wished there was more protein in a protein bowl. Regardless, I was satisfied with the presentation, overall portion size and flavor. Nitro cold brew with no ice and a splash of milk - great portion size for the price we paid. This fixed our caffeine necessity. Service - quick and friendly. Environment - clean and chill

    Kale Caesar with Grilled Steak

I work in the galleria and order lunch from here at least once a week. It's super convenient to order online and pick up to go. They also offer delivery to my office. The food is consistently good, fresh, healthy & nutritious. It has easily become one of my favorite restaurants in the galleria area. I've tried a few of their juices, salads & sandwiches but my go to order is their protein bowls, the bowls are amazing & their portions are larger than most places serving similar items. I'm guaranteed to be satisfied & depending on the day I may even have left overs. On my most recent visit I tried their kale Caesar salad with grilled steak, it was good but not nearly as good as their bowls. If you're in the mood for healthy yet delicious food I highly recommend you give original ChopShop a try!!

Red chili lime shrimp bowl and power green juice
    David C.

Original ChopShop has been my favorite quick casual lunch lately! Fresh, healthy, and very tasty. What else could you ask for? I tried their red chili lime shrimp bowl, spicy Korean steak bowl, zen bowl, and power green fresh juice. Everything was honestly great, and I loved how affordable it was for food that's this healthy. Usually healthy food tends to cost more, but I thought everything was fairly priced here. I really liked their sides of forbidden rice, sweet potatoes, and roasted vegetables that come at the bottom of their protein bowls. The store is very clean, brightly lit, and the employees were all very friendly. This might be my new go to healthy yet quick lunch in Houston. I'll be back ASAP for sure!

It was okay. I got this for free cause I got an ad on ig that said i could get a free bowl, salad or sandwich. All u have to do is sign up for the rewards. It was nice to get a free $16 bowl but it was pretty bland. I would say just go to cava or chipotle or something. The shrimp was the best part. The brussel sprouts were still kinda hard and didn't have much flavor. Rice had no flavor. The sweet potato hash was okay. Just needed more of something maybe a sauce or seasoning.

I don't know if the food at the chop shop is truly healthy or not, but with options like forbidden rice, quinoa, or veggies only, their bowls makes me FEEL healthy...and that's why I choose this new kid on the block. When I visited, no lines. In fact, I was the only one in the shop, but I'm not complaining. The service was fine, the shop was clean, and they have a pick up drive thru (if you've ordered online. Keep in mind it's not for placing orders). Overall, they offer great protein bowls at a slightly more affordable price than their across the street neighbor. I tried the Thai coconut chicken bowl, which was a delicious 2 serving meal, but I'll be back to try the teas. Welcome to the hood Chop Shop!

Great batter, which a nice touch of spice, and not at all dry. For lunch, I thought the Blackened Redfish on grits was very satisfying. I also recommend their Crispy Chicken Sandwich, which I asked for spicy. Very satisfying! It comes with a side and I chose Caesar Salad. It's hard to choose sometimes, and I wanted to try something new to me. We opted for J. Alexander's and made reservations though it really wasn't busy for a Sunday evening. For being in the uptown park area, it sits on a huge lot with plenty of parking compared to all the restaurants across the street. We were seated in a nice booth on the second level. The food came out quickly. We opted for the HRW menu. Deviled eggs - Good. Filled with lots of yolk and the pickled relish but kind of dry. It needed more mayo. It was also heavily dusted with paprika all over and on the plate for "decor". 5 oz filet with bearnaise sauce and loaded baked potato - The filet was really small for 5 oz. Even the small filet medallions at B&B Butcher are slightly bigger. It was flavorful. Some parts looked more medium well than medium. I skipped the bearnaise sauce. It tasted vinegary more than creamy. The baked potato was really good. It was soft and fluffy and was great with all the toppings. Carrot cake - I've never had a warm carrot cake before but thought it was good. The icing is sweet and could have more cream cheese in it. I think the carrot cake had shredded coconut in it. Unique. Mocktail: I had the Lyre's pineapple margarita. Loved it. I would order that again. Not too sweet or sour and enjoyed the chamoy/tajin around the rim. I'm curious about their other dishes. I'd be opening to trying more items on the menu. My friend's Brasserie Chicken with panko-crusted, parmesan, lemon caper sauce, tomatoes, smashed potatoes, and broccoli looked really good and was a large portion. Service was great, and they pack your leftovers for you and place it on a hook at the end of the booth.

The deviled eggs make good comfort food and was satisfying. This version doesn't have much of a kick, but it's very creamy and you can definitely taste the truffle oil. The homemade potato chips also add to the texture and salt between bites. The shrimp dish was fun with a light and crispy batter, well-seasoned and drizzled with sweet chili sauce. The cool ranch surprisingly added to the shrimp and enhanced the chili sauce rather than overwhelming it. The made-in-house fries were far better than expected. I was somewhat expecting dense, oily, boring fries, but these were very crisp and somehow didn't feel too greasy as far as fries goes. Almost seemed like an injustice for it to be served with ketchup as it was too good for it. Lastly, the tart was a great way to end the meal without it being too much. Loved the crust. The tart shell tasted really good and went well with the filling, which had a lighter consistency than pudding. Fruits tasted like they were on season, even though it should be a bit too late for strawberries. I'm also a sucker for meringue. I wasn't sure what to expect based on the name of the restaurant, but essentially their seafood options are spectacular. And it feels like an exclusive club because the decor and service are both very much high class and special. We tried the coconut shrimp as the appetizer and really liked it. It was lightly fried and the shrimp was cooked to perfection - not under and not over. I would highly recommend this one to start. Loved it. If you're looking for a fair-priced meal, they have lots of salad and sandwich options. I tried the salmon poke bowl and it was so delicious. The fish was extremely fresh, and all the flavors blended together really well. It was like a healthy party in my mouth. It was great decision. You wanna splurge a bit and live large like YOLO? You gotta get the crab cake. Now, how good can a crab cake be? Well, if you're paying close to $50 for one crab cake, you better believe it's gonna be freaking awesome. And alas, it was. Best crab cake I've ever had in my life, no joke. And I've tried a lot of crab cakes in my many decades of dining out. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant and will be coming back many times. Enjoy! Quick note on parking - plenty of parking in a huge lot shared by many businesses such as Kenny and Ziggy's. Only annoying part is several sections of the lot are designated for specific businesses, so just look for the signs and be willing to park a little bit further away towards Taco Deli and Bluestone.

I was excited to finally try Balboa Surf Club since I drive by it all the time and it's located…read morenear several of my favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, this turned out to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in quite some time. We had an 8:00 PM reservation but weren't seated until around 8:30 PM. While delays happen and I was willing to overlook that, the experience only went downhill from there. We ordered Palomas to kick off our Friday night. The drinks took quite a while to arrive, and when they did, they were noticeably watered down. I politely mentioned it to our server, who quickly took them back and brought replacements, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the second round was nearly identical to the first. When I brought it up again, instead of acknowledging the feedback, the server responded by saying it was "just not a sugary drink." That completely missed the point. I wasn't expecting a sweet cocktail--I was pointing out that the drinks tasted diluted and poorly made. What bothered me most wasn't the drinks themselves, but how the feedback was handled. I wasn't looking for free drinks or trying to be difficult. I was simply offering honest feedback, and it felt like my opinion was being dismissed rather than heard. Unfortunately, the food didn't redeem the experience. We ordered several dishes to get a good sense of the menu, and most were overwhelmingly salty. The salt overpowered any other flavors to the point that we couldn't finish some of the dishes. The sushi was the best thing we had, but even that lacked the presentation and quality I would expect at this price point. To be fair, the manager did remove the drinks from our bill as a courtesy, and I appreciate that gesture. However, by that point the damage had already been done. A resolution is only effective when guests feel heard and respected throughout the process. Instead, I felt like I had to defend my opinion and justify my feedback before anyone took it seriously. At the end of the day, a restaurant can be trendy, crowded, and beautifully designed, but none of that matters if the food and service don't deliver. Balboa Surf Club has the atmosphere and location, but in my experience it falls short where it matters most. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried it because I had always been curious, but now I know I won't be back and cannot recommend it. If you're looking for a similar concept, I'd recommend Hudson House. The atmosphere is comparable, but the drinks are consistently well-made, the food is much better, and the service has always been far superior.
