Nutella Stuffed French Toast: Honey Berry Pancakes and Café (HBPC) is a contemporary breakfast/lunch restaurant with 13 locations divided across WI, IL, and TX. I've dined there once before and was slightly disappointed by their pancakes, but I wanted to give them another chance with their French Toast. One criticism I have right off the bat is HBPC's menu offers descriptions of their different pancake varieties, but no descriptions are provided for their French Toast, which led me to asking our server more questions than I'd prefer to. There ended up not being a type of French Toast available on the menu that was exactly what, but our server did allow the modifications I requested, which brings us to my Nutella Stuffed French Toast (which should be a regular menu item). I got two large pieces of brioche French Toast dusted with powdered sugar and lathered in and stuffed with sweet Nutella. My taste buds were rejoicing from the combination of chocolate, hazelnut, butter, and hints of eggs. The French Toast was warm, perfectly crispy on the outside, pleasantly chewy, and incredibly thick (I actually struggled cutting it). I had been craving a buffalo chicken wrap and Honey Berry has the best one in the area in my opinion! They serve their entire menu all day, so I was able to get the wrap I was craving even at 8:45am. We left around 9:30 and it had filled up a bit, but you could get a table. My guess is the waits would start between 10-11 on a weekend. Great service and delicious breakfast! My boyfriend, friend, and I popped into Honey Berry on Bluemound for breakfast last Thursday morning. We were seated right away--gotta love a calm weekday morning! Our server, Angela L., was fantastic--super friendly and attentive, and she made sure we had everything we needed. My grandma recommended this since I wanted brunch on my birthday. It was a perfect recommendation! We came around 11 on a Monday with a group of 8 and were seated quickly. If your menus gonna have no pictures, I would expect what you advertise in writing is what you mean. When you put an item under the french toast section, I expect to receive a french toast. I agree with the other reviews which say they believe most of the food is premade.. that banana bread came out in 10 minutes and was not warm, like something that is fresh baked, but was lukewarm. When escalated, the manager told us we should go elsewhere unless we could get there more than 90 minutes before close. No apologies. I stopped here for the new restaurant of week and it was a bookmark since they opened. The place is in a strip mall with plenty of parking. The decor is fresh looking with a modern country charm I would say with a bar, tables and booths with lots of white broken up with various colors . Service was good because I got there just after opening and one table was In service. I ordered a spicy Bloody Mary which looked pathetic with our bacon slice showing but sunken in the drink was a pickle, olive and cheese which was very average I thought. I ordered the carnivore skillet with two eggs and toast. I asked about the toast options and I was told the generic three white, wheat or rye which amazed me because a nice breakfast restaurant has nothing more sophisticated for the area like a good sourdough or maybe a good Texas which was a let down because everyone has white toast. My food came quick and looked good with the white toast at least looking like a good bakery quality which it was, no generic wonder bread. My sunny side up eggs were cooked perfectly and noticeably bigger than average. The carnivore skillet had like 6 different meats and cheese which was good and the extra crispy bacon was was a nice texture in the plate. My only let down and this next to never happens and just the opposite of the norm was very little shredded hash browns and heavy on the toppings so I would have liked a balanced potato flavor because that's why I ordered the skillet in the first place. I saw a post on social media of a giant omelette from Honey Berry Cafe and knew I wanted to check them out to see for myself if they were really that large. I showed their menu to my wife and she started to drool over some of the specialty pancake options, so we stopped in with our kids for a Sunday brunch. I ordered a build your own omelette with bacon, broccoli, and provolone cheese. The omelette came with hashbrowns and I chose to upgrade my side of pancakes to the key lime pancakes without the blackberries or blackberry coulis. My wife got the cinnamon roll pancakes and our kids split an adult portion of chocolate chip pancakes. Every one of us loved our meals. My wife thought the cinnamon roll pancakes were worth the drooling she did and the kids devoured their chocolate chip pancakes. The omelette was incredibly large and might have been the best tasting omelette I've ever had. Beyond just the size of it, it was loaded with chunks of broccoli and real pieces of bacon. The hashbrowns weren't crispy like I like, but they had a nice buttery flavor to make up for it. The key lime pancakes were delicious and worth the $2 upgrade cost. We were quoted at an hour wait for a table and it was probably closer to an hour and fifteen minutes by the time we were seated because the place was packed. The food was absolutely worth the wait and we will be back, just earlier in the morning to avoid as much of the after church crowd as we can if it's on a Sunday. read more

I've been here twice now and I'm honestly unimpressed. I went on a weekday morning, so my party was seated right away, but that was the only good thing about the experience. Today I ordered the apple cinnamon crepes. The apple topping itself was delicious, but the crepes had an odd Nutella/chocolaty flavor to them. They must have been cooked on the same griddle as another dish without being fully cleared off first. It was a pretty unpleasant taste. Our server today was not great. He was friendly enough, but not very efficient. He didn't come get my party's drink orders until we had been sitting at our table for about 15 minutes. It was pretty frustrating. It was also incredibly difficult to hear what he was saying to us. The restaurant is extremely loud and everyone's voices echo pretty badly. Nonetheless, our food was delivered quickly - which was a positive. The restaurant itself is very clean and decorated well. There is plenty of seating inside and a large parking lot outside. Even though I wasn't completely pleased with my food, the prices here are pretty reasonable. My order of crepes ran me $11.00. After visiting twice at this point, I wouldn't return here. After a short wait I was seated a table for two next to a window. The room was neat, clean and bright, and despite temps in the teens outside the restaurant was comfortably warm. Service was quick, friendly and professional. I ordered a glass of juice and the waiter took my order for 2 eggs over easy, bacon, hash browns and pancakes with a side order of whole wheat toast. The meal arrived promptly, everything was cooked to order. The pancakes were a bit plain, but the rest of the meal was quite good and of good portion size. There was a bit of an issue with the coupon but the manager quickly cleared it up. A bit more expensive than a similar meal at a Denny's, coming in at $26 but with the coupon just a bit over $6 (not including tip). Was it worth the revisit, yes I'd go back to try some of their lunch items. read more

No one came to ask how our food was, but in this worker shortage environment, I give a pass on most service issues, but that was the only "issue" I had on my visit, which is minor to me. It filled up even more while we dined. The food was what fell short of my expectations after a friend told me she liked this restaurant more than another place she visited and I later visited and loved. Chicken n waffles had good seasoning on the chicken cutlet, but the chicken and waffles were both fairly dry. The hot sauce and syrup are meant to enhance, not mask. I tried with and without. Didn't love either way and would not order again. Short stack of regular pancakes was heavy and dense, not fluffy. Short stack of regular French Toast was better but could have used something for some flavor, even though I ordered regular. I sprinkle a little cinnamon on my regular French Toast when I make it at home. The texture of the French Toast was also a little better. I intentionally ordered regular versus their flavored versions because I want to know how the pancakes and French Toast taste on their own. That is what matters to me. Another place in town had great pancakes but mediocre French Toast. I try to compare apples to apples. Normally, I would order corned beef hash as my go-to and they had two versions on the menu, so we ordered the housemade corned beef hash from the Family Favorites section of the menu, as opposed to the Corned Beef Hash Skillet. This dish was the best we ordered. Eggs were cooked over medium and hashbrowns were nicely seasoned. Wheat toast was near perfect. The corned beef hash is made with hashbrowns so unless you want extra hash browns, you can add fruit as your side. You can also upgrade your toast to an English Muffin or bagel for small upcharge. So overall, not my jam. There is room for improvement, and I like a few other spots better for breakfast/brunch options, but the place was very busy when we left, so they should be fine. read more
