Their roti buns are amazing! Love the plain ones, but the cream cheese ones are also good! I had their thai teas and it's probably the best ones with pearls available in salinas. I haven't had their other drinks, but I'm pretty sure they are ok. I ordered the green tea honey brick toast? I think that's the name, it was good, but you could tell the green tea ice cream was a little Icy? If that's even a phrase. It didn't seem creamy, but I wasn't sure if it was from lack of proper refrigeration or just the ice cream texture. Unpopular opinion but I don't see why this place is so special. I guess if you enjoy indulging yourself with desserts and ice cream you would love it. This review is mainly on customer service and the Tapioca drinks. My tapioca drink was warm. Yes, warm. Last time I checked they're supposed to be cold if they're slushees. I ordered taro and the flavor was barely there. I would've never guess it was taro. My boyfriend ordered the coffee, and the flavor wasn't great either. Customer service was 50/50. The girl that handed us our drinks was really friendly. The girl taking orders wasn't. She sounded like a robot (very rehearsed). Not very welcoming. The first time she attempted to take our order she left me talking as she got sidetracked by a coworkers conversation with a customer. She then repeated the same line without apologizing. So I really wanted to like the roti burger. But it was a disappointment and here's why: What was pictured and described under "Roti Burger" was ice cream, roti and chocolate. Instead, I got Roti bread filled with ice cream, nutella, bananas and strawberries, and then put into a sandwich maker. Definitely not what was pictured. When I talked to the "sales associate" she said, "Oh, that's what it is." Ummm. Okay? Well then don't FALSELY ADVERTISE YOUR MENU ITEMS. Not coming back. I can't believe that you will still serve them. I love the boba at this location a lot more than the Honeyberry over at the Northridge mall. I don't know what the difference is but the taste is definitely different. I usually interchange between the taro or the strawberry slushie boba. However, the service here used to be great! Was not expecting much when we came in, didn't look like a typical boba place like one would find in the SGV. This shop does not feel like a chain-like franchise but more like a mom and pop shop. Their boba menu is very basic, they don't even have almond milk tea. We ordered two taro drinks, one blended and one normal and surprisingly both were good and the boba was cooked properly. I got the ice chai tea and once I received it o notice the film puff up, I didnt think much off it but once I took a drink its was spoiled! The drink suddenly started fizzing up and the milk in this drink tasted expired. I told the guy behind the counter that maybe the milk was expired so he goes check in the back to make sure if the milk was expired which apparently it wasn't then tells me they put to much lemon in the chai (from what I know chai doesn't come with lemon , plus WHY would u put milk in it?!?!milk and lemon dont mix!) Went to Honey Berry again last week at around 3:35-ish because I was craving roti buns. This time I ordered the Honeydew milk tea. It was a little too sweet for me. I prefer a subtle honeydew flavor, but it was still decent for Salinas's standards when it comes to milk teas (we don't have many places to choose from). My milk tea was ready before my roti bun. My roti bun was reheated. The reheated roti bun was not very fluffy, which factored into why I didn't like it as much as I did my previous visit. The tart froyo tasted exactly like Chinese yogurt in froyo form, so I was in heaven. Often times, the tart flavor is too sour for me, but this one was perfect. The passion fruit froyo was also very refreshing. Perhaps because they try to cover such a breadth of Asian desserts, they had a pretty limited selection of froyo flavors, and for the other desserts as well. The roti buns are always really good at this place, but this might be the last time I will grab boba from this Honey Berry location. I ordered a jasmin milk tea with pearls, and it did not taste like jasmin milk tea at all. The jasmin is suppose to taste a bit like flowers, (weird way of explaining the flavor, but it's the best explanation I can give) but it tasted more like corn syrup. I've had so many jasmin milk teas at different boba cafes, but this Honey Berry location made the jasmin milk tea way off from what I've been use to. The pearls were well made though. It's an okay spot. Crepes taste watery (-1star) the gelato melts as soon as you step out and boba's are average. I also deducted a star because that place is so hot that I couldn't eat there. It is seldom that I eat anything that I have not tried before in one derivation or another. Considering the cultural diversity we are fortunate to have in the U.S.A. ('Merica...F#ck Yeah! )...there are really few "new foods". I mean if you've had a burrito...an Indian Naan wrap...or a Gyro...they are not much different one from the other but for the flavors and filling. So...I find myself with my son and daughter out and about looking for some quick "breakfasty" style noms...and pulling up Yelp to see whats nearby, I see this place. Honeyberry. The first review I noticed said something about try the Waffle Gelato something or other. My brain sees Waffle...and I think, Aha!...breakfast. When we walk into the place is a typical looking Frozen Yogurt-ish looking joint....except for the aroma of something sweet, baked and insanely delicious smelling. My stomach is looking for a chicken fried stead and eggs...but my nose and taste-buds say, "Hold on a second, what is that intoxicating aroma?". As I stood with an obviously dumb-founded face, the owner walked up and asked, "First time here?" He can obviously can read a face. I nodded slack jawed and saw him reach into a shelf and pull out a small round bread like item and place it into some sort of industrial toaster. As the toaster turned on, the aroma filling the place suddenly got stronger. "Here, I'm gonna give you a Roti to try." He could have just as easily said, "Here...I'm going to throw some bulls cajones in a toaster covered with sugar for you to try" and I'd have had the exact same reaction. I nodded eagerly in anticipation of eating whatever was making that wonderful aroma. Before my brain finally decided that perhaps now would be a good time to engage my vocal cords and attempt some sort of discourse with the gentleman...the toaster made a loud "ding" and the owner handed me a small brown bun on a piece of paper. What I was handed was a "Roti Bun" . Soft, warm, doughy, sweet and amazingly delicious. It was like having a raised donut, all fluffy and soft, yet chewy, with a super sweet sugary crust that provided a wonderful crunchiness and the flavor similar to the deep browned outer crust of a waffle. Mind blown! I quickly ordered one of each of the flavors of Roti buns they sell, Plain, Chocolate Butter and Yogurt Chip Cream Cheese. My kids and I sat down and within a minute all three Rotis had been split between us...so we could taste each flavor...and devoured in complete silence as each of us was having a bit of trouble wrapping our brains around these. Long story short, If you ever happen to be near a Honey Berry....AND...(notice it's a BIG "AND") you love sugary doughy items (we're talking you are the sort of person who loves donuts on a daily basis, deep fried twinkies and funnel cake...and never shies away from hitting your waffles or french toast with a healthy snow storm of powered sugar just before drowning them in pure maple syrup...) then a Roti bun will quickly become a favored delivery platform for getting sugar and dough into your body quickly! Did I mention these things are delicious?! No, seriously...I do not think I will be able to eat a donut ever again... If Roti Bun and Cinni Bun had a battle....Roti would Ninja Cinni Bun's glazed butt! That's all I'm saying.... Really...these things are that good. (Could be the sugar talking....sorry) read more
