"tiktok made me do it," proof that i can be easily influenced. these viral fruits have been all over my fyp, the original in paris by cedric grolet le meurice, shaping mousse and sponge cake into realistic fruits. and just like that, i gave in and made my way to yaletown. this woman owned café, run by cordon bleu trained chefs emma and rachel, is all about passion and hard work. emma was behind the counter, super friendly and patient, she even introduced her dad, brother, and business partner rachel. it felt warm, family run, but with legit culinary chops behind it. i decided on the raspberry and the lemon. i was told the structure is similar, with the fruit flavor being the main difference, they also offer orange, pear, peach, and lemon. the raspberry ($10.75) hit the sweet spot, raspberry mousse, white chocolate ganache, raspberry jam, and coconut sponge, all working together in a dessert that looked as good as it tasted. the lemon ($11.75) was more of an acquired taste, slightly bitter, more complex, but still really impressive in how it was put together. labour intensive, crunchy thin white chocolate exterior, soft centre, not too sweet, and visually appealing, a fun dessert to bring to any get together. overall, it's whimsical, polished, very photogenic, and surprisingly refined for something born of a viral trend. i may have to come back to try the other fruits, apparently they change seasonally. oh, and they serve brunch too.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]A cute cafe in Yaletown, Wren Cafe is a newly opened gem.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have a wide variety of menu items, ranging from pastries to pastas. I was searching for a custom birthday cake and Rachel was very helpful with my order. After a brief phone call of my request, I was given a quote that same day. I believe you can also message them on Instagram to order. I ordered a 6" blueberry cheesecake and it was fantastic. I loved how aesthetic the cake was, the overall textures of the cheesecake, and best of all, it wasn't too sweet! The lemon flavours in the cheesecake really helped balance the overall sweetness. Would definitely return to try their other aesthetic desserts or order another custom cake!

A return visit was a must after craving the pasta I first tried at a recent Yelp event--and I'm so glad I came back! We ordered the Caramelized Onion & Sun-Dried Tomato Pasta and the Creamy Mushroom Pasta, both just as delicious as I remembered. For dessert, we tried The Apple and The Lemon, and wow--these are something special! The shape, the texture, and the flavors inside are heavenly. I personally loved The Apple, while my husband preferred The Lemon. I also spotted on Instagram that they're releasing a Marshmallow dessert, so you know I'll be back to try that one! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is clean and cozy, with plenty of tables to choose from, making it a great spot to dine in or take out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their drink menu is also really nice, adding to the experience. Service was super friendly, and I even got to see one of the owners working on the lemon pastries. She was so kind, answering my questions and filling me in on how they're made. A lot of work and love goes into these, and hearing their story made me enjoy them even more. Absolutely love their creations and the fact that they offer pasta for lunch--such a win!

Price point: $$ ($6-25 per person) Service: attentive and great! They serve brunch here from 11 to 3 PM.but if you don't want a full on breakfast, they also have lunch and just pastries, cakes, sweets available ! Assortment of drinks that anyone can enjoy! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love how things are clearly made in-house with the open front bakery and cafe concept. You can see that they are creating these pastries there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I really appreciate the potatoes on the eggs Benedict, but I do think that the meat selection was just too salty for me ? I think this might just be a personal preference. my experience was good. I enjoyed the barbeque chicken flatbread, and the Matcha latte is very green! If I could, I think I would go back to try another pasta because it was cooked perfectly Al Dante.

We hadn't been out for brunch in a while, and finding a spot in Yaletown that serves brunch every day was a challenge. That's why Wren Cafe immediately caught our attention! Their menu has a unique variety, from open sandwiches and pasta to flatbreads. What We Tried: * Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon and Prosciutto 必食 * Creamy Mushroom Fettuccine with Chicken * Open Sandwich Trio (we picked Salmon Rillette, Prosciutto Pear, and Pulled Pork Coleslaw) 好味 * Blueberry Cheesecake * The Raspberry (a dessert) * Latte * Blueberry Soda * Sea Salt Pineapple Soda Every dish was a hit, but if we had to choose favourites, it would be the Eggs Benedict and the Open Sandwich Trio. The Eggs Benedict were absolutely perfect--soft, poached eggs paired with both smoked salmon and prosciutto. Every bite was satisfying and so flavorful. The Open Sandwich Trio stole the show with its elegant presentation on a marble stone. Our picks -- Pulled Pork Coleslaw, Egg Salad with Semi-Dried Tomatoes, and Smoked Salmon with Cucumber Ribbons -- were all simple yet incredibly delicious. The service was just as impressive as the food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The experience felt upscale, like dining in a restaurant, even though it's a cozy cafe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Amazing food, warm service, and an unbeatable vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We highly recommend Wren Cafe to anyone in Yaletown looking for a brunch spot! Food: 5/5 Must Try! Service: Eatery Kids: 4/5 Yay! Price: $20-$30 per person Presentation: 3/5 Parking: Paid street parking Tips: * Save room for sweet treats. * Best place for brunch or a coffee date. * Great to pair your meal with their refreshing sodas or lattes. * Plan your visit and enjoy a relaxed dining experience. Would I Return: Yes ‍

During a recent visit to Yaletown, I came across a bouquet of flowers outside this newly renovated little cafe called Wren so of course I popped in to check it out! It just happens to be their soft opening today! As an introductory offer if you buy five of their freshly made in house desserts you get one free! The three gals for which the cafe is named, graduated from Le Cordon Bleu and are off to a great start. I ordered: Lemon blueberry tart surprisingly full with blueberries and a thin lemon curd on top with more blueberries and meringue on a pastry crust. Not overly sweet and super fresh! Lemon meringue tart- excellent balance of tartness and sweetness and you can taste the fresh lemon peel. Tiramisu- nice strong espresso syrup, perfect ratio of moist sponge cake and mascarpone. Sooo good! Chocolate bomb- to die for if you're a chocolate lover. Soft super rich chocolate mousse is pudding like and melts in your mouth. Good quality chocolate you can taste the difference! Fruit tart - a classic! Tropical cake- light sponge with a mango coconut custard, is fruity and moist But also ordered a lichee black tea soda which is served with a nice thin-slice of dried orange, which is edible too. Very refreshing. I was very impressed by the quality of their pastries and their chocolate filled croissant is light, flaky and crisp! I'll be back to try their brunch options! Only just opened so I hope Vancouverites can help these three young people thrive!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Really cute cafe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Super nice owner. Went today and had the mushroom pasta, a peach desert and these flatbreads. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Super cozy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I also had a lychee iced tea. Highly recommended.

Amazing food, friendly staff, and quick service. Would recommend giving them a try. Their potato wedges were so good, we went back for seconds.

    Pina Colada dessert

Small hidden secret gem on Nelson. You will miss it if you blinked. Next to Subway. Tried the Trio sandwiches. We had the pear and prosciutto, salmon rillette and barbecue pulled pork. These chefs open face sandwiches were excellent. We had the piña colada for dessert. Very good prices. Service felt personalized and friendly.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]First thing I noticed upon entering Wren was how hot, stuffy it was with aroma of B.O., unpleasant and thank goodness for nasal fatigue![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered a few coffees, a pastry and croissant sandwich. They were lackluster at best. The smoked salmon croissant sandwich was very small and overpriced.

Ive had it before and at least its pretty consistent. Ive tried several other things on their menu in the past too, all pretty solid 4/5. Nothing standout as so amazing to deserve 5 stars, but consistent and tasty. I did have a reservation which they charge $10/person for, purely for donation to a charity and does not contribute to your meal at all, and also nonrefundable. While I find this somewhat annoying, I dont blame them for doing this from a business standpoint. They always have a lineup so there is no shortage of customers for them. There is no reason they need to deal with the headache of a ton of reservations. On the flip side, they honoured my reservation in a very timely fashion and I bypassed the line, so props to them for doing that part right. I was meeting a friend here yesterday who's visiting from California, and when deciding on a meeting place, we realized a bunch of the Gastown coffee roaster places were closed on Sunday, so I mentioned Breka , knowing it was opened 24/7. (LOVE this!). Plus, this site is close to Waterfront Station, and my friend had a busy day planned, taking the Seabus to N.Van and doing a lot of sightseeing. So this Breka was perfect. I was there early at 10 am-ish, and from the outset, I was impressed: exposed brick wall, long counter and display case, fully stocked with the most beautiful pastries and tarts and cakes, and lovely looking sandwiches, too....Just lovely. I ordered a tea from the guy taking the orders. At the check-out, the woman working the cashier was the most unfriendly, aloof person I have ever encountered at a Breka. She was downright dour. Never looked up, never smiled, said I owed X for the tea I ordered, gave me a receipt and said I was "number 3", no "thank you" (despite my saying thanks!), nothing. She looked really unhappy and bothered to be there. (I sat at a nearby table, waiting for my number to be called. I saw her interactions with all the people behind me - and there were quite a few, as it got suddenly busy in the cafe. She was cold and unfriendly to everyone in line as she rang them all up. These are mostly tourists! Why have a dour, borderline-hostile woman at the check-out counter of a busy cafe in a touristy part of our city? I just don't get it). Anyhow, I waited 10 minutes to hear my number called, but I never heard it. I walked up to the take-out area and there was my tea, on a receipt that said "number 3". Did they call out my number? I honestly don't know. I was seated at a table a few feet from the area and listening for my number and I didn't hear it called. I was not impressed with this set-up. Not at all. My friend arrived and got a chocolate concoction which looked amazing, and he loved it, so there's that. I still love Brekas but I probably won't return to this site. Between the cold experience at the cash and the prolonged waiting for my order (a cup of tea!), and not being sure if my order number was ever called, it just all left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

We were having gorgeous weather in Vancouver so we decided to eat on the covered patio. The place is pretty cozy, but was only moderately busy when we went. They have a pretty good menu with lots a Benedict's and a build your own breakfast option that seemed pretty nice. I took the recommendation from our server and got the bacon benny. It did not disappoint. I think I have recently discovered that I love poached eggs and these were perfect. The yolk was nice and runny and the white was firm but not hard. I like to cut in to my egg and have it run down and get messy on the plate. The hollandaise was excellent. So many breakfast places will serve it broken, but not here. It had the perfect amount of lemon, butter ratio for my taste and I really enjoyed it. The bacon was good, not to salty, and the english muffin was, well, an English muffin from a package that they toasted and out on the plate. I did splurge and paid the extra dollar for the truffle potatoes and they were very good. I love truffle oil on potatoes so I am a sucker for it whenever its on a menu. You just cant mess it up. Fried potatoes, truffle oil, and a lemon squeeze to bring it all together. My wife got the brunch burger and she loved it. It was a messy breakfast burger that a lot of places have but this one was done right. A poached oozy egg, on a burger patty with american cheese, the best burger cheese in my opinion, bacon, hollandaise and arugula on a brioche bun! It came with tater tots and they were nice and crispy just like she likes them. Well, why didn't I give it five stars you may be asking? Great question. Here it is, each plate came with a side that was just awful. Mine had some "fresh" fruit that nearly made me laugh. It consisted of the saddest, limpest piece of watermelon I have ever seen this side of a trash can. I also had an old crusty orange wedge and a single grape. My wife got a slimy side salad that I think was holding on for dear life. Both, we deemed inedible and moved on immediately. I think there is a rule, or at least there should be one, in restaurants that if you wouldn't eat it then don't serve it. There might be another one that says if you eat rotten food maybe get a different job and see rule one. Overall, we liked the place and would go back. But first, the food - I ordered scrambled eggs, chicken apple sausage and paid an extra $1 for truffled lemon potatoes. The verdict? 4 out of 5. While he loved the tomato soup he chose on the side, he was less enamoured by the benny itself. I had a taste and was underwhelmed by a forkful of overripe avocado and slightly fishy-tasting salmon. We finished with an order of beignets which despite being freshly-fried, were bland; although the accompanying strawberry sauce was deliciously tangy-sweet. Onto the service. This place spins like a top, and I mean that in a good way. Although we came at a peak time, all front of the house staff we encountered -- from the hostess to our bubbly server, to the smooth manager -- struck a perfect balance of being in flow, working flawlessly together, and maintaining light conversation with us. Exemplary. 5 stars out of 5.
