Really fun to sit outside and eat brunch, felt like I wasn't in Milwaukee. The service was great. The food even better. I'd come here again.

Perfect potatoes, good coffee, ample portions. Pork Fries were amazing. And trivial pursuit at every table to keep the kids entertained.

Not sure what else I could have hoped for here. The husband had the pork fries (huge serving) and I had the breakfast burrito. They both tasted great my only gripe is that the "chorizo" in my burrito was practically non existent (and that's saying something-I normally stay away from meat and even I feel like there wasn't enough). We each had a Bloody Mary (highly recommend the Rosemary infused vodka one) and finished off with a slice of the salted honey pie. That honey pie was one of the best desserts of my life. Surprisingly fabulous food in what one might mistake for a Milwaukee neighborhood bar. Great locally sourced entrées and appetizers to please any need. Staff is very accommodating. The wine list is adequate. They offer a good variety of craft and 'standard' beers. The pies are to die for... absolutely fantastic. I would definitely return again. I've had breakfast, lunch and dinner at Honey Pie(not all in the same day), and I have thoroughly enjoyed all of it. My only complaint, a very small one at that, is about the space itself and the layout. If there is a wait, all you can do is stand in front of the door and wait. But once you sit down everything is excellent. Go for the biscuits and gravy. read more

This is one of my favorite, most inconsistent but somehow manages-to-redeem-itself restaurants. The completely schizo waitstaff is friendly, helpful, rude and blasé all at once. I've had great service and downright lame service. It helps if you have lots of time and can be patient. Their cornbread muffins are awesome and the salads are creative and delish. Sometimes they run out of salad ingredients - it's true. They're known to skip items that are listed on the menu. But, if you're nice they can usually fix it. I dunno, I've experienced agro staff here (once when we were waiting for a table a waitress told my husband to "move it mister" as she slid by with plates-how about an "excuse me?") and somehow I keep going back for more. Long waits between visits from the waitress and her general lack of enthusiasm made me not want to visit again. We tried Honey Pie for breakfast. Excellent Excellent Excellent! We had a small wait - the hostess was great, she was right on it as soon as a table became available she cleaned and prep it for us. My husband and I had the eggs with sausage, potatoes and french toast. Everything was prepared perfect. The french toast has a wonderful flavor and is served with pure maple syrup. The sausage is like no other, lean and delicious. We couldn't resist getting some baked goods, they all looked so great it was hard to choose. We came away with strawberry-peach pie and it was one of the best pies I have tasted. I cannot wait to go back to Honey Pie and try more of the entrees and desserts. read more

I like this cute little Milwaukee cafe! Three of us stopped in around 1130 for brunch on a Sunday, and got seated in just 5-10 minutes. They have a lovely little back patio, that was well shaded and filled with flowerpots - if it's a nice day, definitely sit back there! It's nicer than the slightly chilly and dim interior of the cafe. Unless you're a vampire. I got a large glass of fresh orange juice for $2.25 which is hella cheap - this is how I feel every time I'm in a city besides Chicago - and then proceeded to spill it all over the table and myself, because you can't take me anywhere. The waitress helped me clean up and then got me another full glass. She was super sweet about it and didn't act annoyed or make me feel stupid, which she'd have had every right to do since it was fairly stupid of me. They did have quite the beer list and a tasty looking cocktail selection, but in our hungover state we were looking to hydrate, not have the hair of the dog that bit us. I ordered the breakfast casserole, which is basically the perfect hangover entree - it's $10.50. You get a baking dish filled that has a homemade biscuit on the bottom, and is then smothered with mushroom and sausage gravy, bacon, and some herbed potatoes. Some cheddar cheese is broiled on top, and then a sunny-side up egg crowns the whole affair. It was comforting, filling, savory, and salty. The egg was a touch overdone, but other than that I thought it was prepared well. I don't like mushrooms, but they were large enough to pick out and give to my boyfriend. The dominant flavors in the gravy were sausage and salt; it was pretty tasty, but will require you to keep reaching for the water glass. It will hit the spot if you want to fill up with a hearty breakfast that, remarkably, isn't really greasy at all! They use local products and make as much as possible from scratch, and I'm always down with that. I'd be happy to stop in again, next time I happen to be in Milwaukee. All the best sounding foods on the menu are the unhealthiest ones, which is fine by me. read more

I've only been to Honeypie once, but if you only go once you absolutely must try the pork fries. It's a mound (seriously, I'll be eating pork fries for days) of pure heaven! The combo of the cheese sauce, with the salt and crunch from the fries and bacon combined with the slightly sweet tang from the BBQ sauce used on the pulled pork and then spice from the jalapeños (I had them on the side and used sparingly bc I'm somewhat sensitive to spice)...perfection! Oh, and the egg on top is like the cherry on top! Seriously, I've never tasted such a perfect pairing of flavors! We also ordered their honey pie, it definitely tastes like honey, and a red velvet cupcake, both of which we wouldn't order again. read more

Today, I tried the braised lamb sandwich. Its was quite delicious. The freshness of the ingredients and the skill of the chef are evident in the taste of the two sandwiches I have so far tried. The butternut squash soup was 4 star. Pistachio pie was 2 star. Crust was very good but the filling was very artificial essence tasting. Service is friendly. One of my favorite spots in all of Milwaukee. This place combines the elegance of well crafted cocktails and local ingredients with the simplicity of comfort food. Prices are fair and menu changes often. Its a smaller place in the winter but has a good patio for summer. Wait times usually aren't too long but they don't take reservations so plan ahead. Great food at reasonable prices! My cousin brought our family (party of 11 - ages 4 to 67!!!) for dinner out. The menu had something for everyone. I went to this restaurant around 3pm on a Saturday, it was understandably empty. The service was quick, as it should have been. I ordered the Mac and Cheese and my partner ordered the Lambwich. My partner said their sandwich was decent, not worth the price tag though. My Mac and cheese on the other hand was pretty terrible. I'm not sure what happened, but the cheese sauce was incredibly salty. It was so salty I think I drank three glasses of water. It had a nice homey/country atmosphere and nice wait staff. I'm in no hurry to go back, especially because it's a bit pricy. read more

I used to love Honeypie... really. I've eaten there probably 20 times since it opened for lunch, dinner, dessert, and now breakfast. I was seriously disgusted by the place on Sunday, however. My boyfriend's toast was coated with mold. The waitress was perhaps the most awkward server I have ever met in my life (she walked up to the table and said, "Are you thirsty?" in a monotone voice that attempted to be funny). She made up for the moldy toast by buying our drinks (a paltry $7) and saying, "Because I care... because WE care." Moldy bread=free breakfast. Sorry, but the hipsters in the kitchen should at least know what mold is, given it's organic. The slow service and wait time for seating should be worthwhile (meaning the food should be stand-out). I don't know what happened to the old menu. Many of the awesome sandwiches are gone and instead replaced by $20+ entrees. Other prices have been jacked up. $13 for a crock of chicken pot pie? Really. Sorry, Honeypie. I want to love you. My pocketbook and patience-o-meter can't handle you anymore. read more
