To start, Joshua is an amazing bartender. Honeysuckle is now officially the place I want to frequent often. The cocktail program is in the top 3 in the city. The food menu is amazing! They are introducing many new items. Fun fact: they have their own farm, not too far away. Nice to know that Honeysuckle is very serious and intentional. Looking forward to coming back to try the Escovitch Branzino!

They had a small limited menu with four small plates and four mains. The chicken and catfish were good but the burger with gold flakes, caviar, and truffle was my favorite! We had too large a group to do the tasting menu - apparently they limit this to groups under 6 so we basically created our own by ordering one of everything on the menu. The salad was my favorite small plate. Service was attentive and the restaurant itself was spacious. Drinks were pretty good - I tried the espresso rumtiniand ti guavay cocktail.

This is not just a dinner, it is an experience! The food was great and the staff were lovely. The burger is 100% the best item we ate and we will return for it. The experience is about 3 hours so just be prepared to spend lots of time chatting with your date or friends between courses. Lovely team that explains the meaning behind each dish. Such a thoughtful dining experience!

One of the best things you will ever put in your mouth!!

The service was impeccable, the food was delish. Every dish came with a wonderful story and history that made it taste even better! As if that's possible , because you were already in love with it in the first place Great Job CHEFS, we will be back! Do yourself a favor- get here !!

Vibes: low-key, woodsy, open; bring a friend or a few to sit at the long tables or the bar Tasting notes: - Amuse bouche: fresh, light, slightly vinegary mussel on a toasty square of milk bread - Clabber: sweet, tender scallops soaking in a creamy, slightly tangy buttermilk; wish I had a spoon or a piece of bread to mop up the sauce! - Green eggs: refreshing, aromatic, shiso-forward; soft-boiled egg added richness alongside the almost aioli-like dressing - Dombrey: Al dente pillows with umami filling in a vinegary, slightly nutty sauce - Sorghum: surprisingly sweet and nutty; loved the crispy, buttery belly - Virginia 002: excellent skin-to-meat-to fat ratio for the duck that provided a lovely balance of textures; celery root puree provided a pleasant contrast in texture and stringency to cut through the fat; mushrooms were earthy and tender - Rice Cream: icy, coconut flavor dominated - Marquis au chokola: ganache was silky; cake fluffy with a touch of ginger Other thoughts: - Liked the welcome tea that was light, anise forward - Service was friendly though pacing was rather slow, with the entire meal taking almost 3 hours - Appreciated plate and silverware change with each course, and the final jelly sweet to send us off for the night Impression: excellent execution of dishes with the sorghum being my favorite of the night! Would consider coming back to try the à la carte menu.

Beautiful space and a world renowned kitchen team at Honeysuckle. The service was incredibly attentive and kind. My group struggled with the pacing of the meal. At the beginning it was timed well but towards the end, especially before the main course, the wait started to drag us down. The menu had 6 courses + 3 more not on the menu: amuse bouche, bread plate and palette refresher. All in all it took 3 hours to get through... woof. You can tell that they put a lot into the design of the interior, even an art installation in the middle of the dining room. However my entire group was colddd. I run hot and I was considering putting my winter coat on. I noticed space heaters at some tables but not by ours. We were seated closer to the front door and it seemed there was nothing to keep the cold outside from snaking over to where we were. A lot of ingredients are sourced from their own farm, and the plates tasted very familiar and cozy. There was a great variety in proteins and ingredients we were introduced to from course to course. The short rib in the beef with broccoli was deliciously seasoned and came with a pristine slice of truffle on top, but the truffle was overpowered. I struggled to put together a bite that made the truffle worth having on the plate - and I tried every combo! At this price point, I was lacking an extra oomph in all the dishes, truffle aside. With Philadelphia's excellent dining scene, I understand why Honeysuckle comes out on top, and their ethos and commitment to community is admirable. I wish I could say the $135pp was 100% worth it for me, but there's room for improvement.

Beautiful restaurant on broad st, loved the ambience and the staff. They all truly seemed to enjoy sharing about the food, its farm to table origins and made great recommendations. Parking was really easy on broad st, you'll have to parallel park though and watch the signs. Prix fixe menu at $95 pp for 4 courses. I thought there were additional courses, but that was the bread and amuse bouche which were very tiny. We loved the shrimp, oysters, catfish and the paw paw ice cream. Everything else was just ok. Maybe I'm not sophisticated enough to appreciate this menu lol. There was beauty, detail and a lot of effort put into each and every dish. I used my Chase dining credit for this dinner which was great since it was relatively easy to get a reservation unlike all other sapphire restaurants. Would recommend try for the ambience, an elevated dining experience and if you're adventurous with food. We did leave hungry though and stoped by Chinatown before going home! Just a heads up

Wow! This wonderful culinary experience fully lives up to its Michelin recognition. I joined a party of four for a dinner of their small plates tasting menu and it is easily one of my top five of dining experiences. The decor and serving dishes blend to support the afro-centric theme. The menu is such a creative adventure and dare to be courageous with your palate -you will be amazed! The flavors and tastes were amazing-and that includes their cocktail selections! And don't let the small plates mislead you, we were stuffed and needed a to go box for the remains of the McDonalds Money Burger that we HAD to try -and so do you! Service was exquisite! And be prepared, this is not an order, eat, and dash experience. Our meal adventure was over 2 hours long, which was needed as we savored our meal. Not by any means inexpensive-and worth every dollar! Go!

This was too dope! The bill came out like this! These type of details will always be TOP TIER.

So I stumbled upon this spot. I initially walked into SOUTH(across the street). They didn't have any bar seats available and one of the ladies mentioned a Black owned restaurant across the street. I was happy to see this bright , airy open floor plan. The ambiance is dope. My hubby and I sat at the bar and were immediately served. We ordered the Fries! OMG ! Im a french fry person. They were delish. We had a cocktail that had blueberry, mezcal and other flavors I love. Yoooo the Legim is sooo good. The Catfish was great too. Did I mention the Black Ceasar salad with smoked herring?! Lawddd. SN: These portions are not sharable(Get ya own ish lol) No it's not cheap(dont go if you want big plates of soul food carbs. THIS AINT THAT) I was slightly disappointed that I couldn't get another order of fries.(They ran out) Everything was amazing. I will definitely be back for the tasting menu. I cant wait! Compliments to the chef‍!

There is so much I can say about Honeysuckle. I will try to compose myself and just stick to the highlights. I loved the "open" dining area concept at restaurant because it made me feel like I am not sitting on top of the other patrons around me. The staff at the restaurant were all so warm and welcoming. They made me feel as if I were entering their homes to have a delicious meal. We started the evening with the prix-fixe menu, which consisted of an appetizer, salad, and entree. I went with the crude boy, which was a Spanish mackerel dish that was so tasty. The flavors exploded in my mouth as they combined to make a slightly salty, but savory dish. My partner had the prawns. He absolutely loved them. Next up, I had the black Caesar salad. It was quite large and I didn't expect that. I enjoyed the classic taste, fresh Parmesan, and breadcrumbs. My partner enjoyed the salad russe. Lastly, our entrees were the catfish and peppers + epis roasted chicken. Now, I absolutely loved my catfish. It was lightly fried and had a hint of pepper that was almost smokey. The pepper had a paprika consistency that paired well with the catfish. My partner wouldn't stop raving about his epis chicken. He asked if we could return again just so he could eat more epis chicken (greedy? Lol). We ended our dining experience with the flan. It was the perfect ending to a perfect dinner. Would I return to Honeysuckle? Only if they allowed me too!!

It seems to me Michelin awards are going to restaurants that are super pricey with small portions. I don't agree with Honeysuckle being on Michelin's recommended list for Philadelphia. I was not blown away from my experience at all. The restaurant is a pre-fixed menu of $95 per person with four courses. PIPPIN PEPPER PRAWNS (king prawn, shitto sauce, cilantro macho, lime) - the prawn smelled awful, as the waiter brought the plate to me, a wet sock smell permeated my aura and left my hands smelling as such for the rest of the evening, I genuinely think the prawns went bad CRUDE BOY (Atlantic Bluefish, spiced mango coulis, coconut yogurt, scotch bonnet, pikliz vinegar) - I shared this with my partner and thought it was a well done dish, the bluefish is cut up to look like mushrooms, the spice mango coulis was unique but the dish could have used more of the pikliz vinegar SALAD RUSSE (heirloom potatoes, aioli, eggs, pickled beets, carrot relish) - I am not sure why it is my job to mix together to reconstruct a deconstructed dish...the dish had me wanting for more ‍FRIED CATFISH & PEPPERS (fermented calabrian chile, turnip tartar sauce, winter chicories) - the catfish was excellent, cooked to perfection and somewhat flaky, however, the bread batter left an off putting taste in my mouth, kind of like burnt olive oil I was told the chicken was absolutely juicy! FLAN DE COCO (coffee caramel, toasted coconut, puffed wild rice, preserved lemon) - the flans consistency was perfect, jiggly enough but firm, the rice with the flan offered a good balance of textures, the preserved lemon wasn't necessary BON BON SIWO (ginger molasses cake, goat cheese, pecans, poached seckel pear) - I think on paper these components pair well together but I didn't feel like it came together with each bite I also cannot tell the cuisine of the food - I think "African diaspora" is extremely vague. I left a bit confused. The space is beautiful and pays homage to African diaspora. The staff was incredibly kind. Based on other reviews, I was concerned that our food would come out very slowly, however, we were done under an hour.

Finally visited Honeysuckle. They recently moved from West Philly to their new location which is more centrally located. This place also won a James beard award which is pretty impressive. The place has African inspired foods that combined both a Caribbean and American theme to it. They have a menu of cocktails and beer and a prix fixe menu. They have fermented beer they make in house which is probably one of the best beers I have had in a while. Hands down, this place has great customer service. They had remembered I was bring my daughter so they brought out a high chair at the table we were sitting at even before we arrived. They walked us through every component of the prix fixed menu. They cleaned the table/ reorganized the table between each dish. The first course included the pippin pepper prawns. This was delicious. It did have the face attached which I didn't really enjoy opening up. Overall, the food was fancy and parts of the plates were amazing. Their customer service was incredible. I really, really loved their homemade fermented beers. I didn't like how long we had to wait between dishes. We were not expecting the food to take so long to come out.

Beautifully decorated with lots of space, you enter the lounge and bar area with many big couches and chairs and even window seating to watch Broad St. The main dining area is further in the back. Everyone was extra welcoming and kind, and the atmosphere is quite lovely. Prix fixe four courses, and a few extra from the kitchen as well. Went for the calas fritter, dombrey agnolotti, fried catfish, and the Bon Bon siwo dessert. The flavors and presentation were all very unique and a great experience. The catfish piece was huge and fried skillfully, crisp outside and perfectly flaky. Turnip tartar and chili sauce great. Extra courses were a fried chicken of the woods mushroom, an oyster, home brewed peach wine, and a bread plate (rock)! All very tasty and showcased more of the unique flavors and skillful work by the chefs. Just a great spot with interesting drinks and food as well. Definitely want to try more from their kitchen, thanks.

    Is there a bar menu,HH?

There is a bar menu that is a la carte, separate from the dinner menu. Unsure if it's separate for Happy Hour or they do HH specials.

Started off with the bartender giving me the stink eye and some lip about asking to sample their many micro-brews - I asked for one sample, it wasn't very good. The bartender's negative attitude made me uncomfortable asking for a second sample. Despite my trepidation and because they had as many as 19 different beers on tap, I asked for a second sample, which caused the bartender to frown at me and 'cut me off at 2.' I responded as positively as I could, accepted the second sample which I also did not enjoy, and took a random shot at a pint of a third beer which also wasn't great. Food was meh. As I now see has been noted in another review, the fried pickles had too much dough and way, way too much grease in them, which likely was the cause of me visiting the toilet a bunch in the morning. The pretzel was a hot pretzel, I don't agree with their choice of mustard as whole grain mustard can be difficult to spread on a hot pretzel but hey that's me. I understand that on Saturday nights people like to cut loose, but no one seemed to ask the women literally screaming with laughter to keep it down at the party in the corner, so this place gets low marks for very loud customers. I mean really there has to be a line somewhere and this was over it. The other bartender was almost apologetically polite when I asked for the check, kind of a good-cop/bad-cop thing going on there. If I wanted that experience I'd get arrested not visit a local bar. You only have one chance at a first impression.
