So the restaurant looks a lot nicer from the inside than it does from the outside. The bridge/koi pond is very nice. It gives the restaurant a nicer feel than a typical buffet. It's also very clean and the prices are pretty reasonable. The buffet had 2 tvs in the background as well as wi-fi. I didn't really like the set up of the food. Most of the main food was all in one line that seemed like a cafeteria line. When we went, there weren't even that many people but I had to wait behind everyone before I could get my soup, and other dishes. I can imagine that when it's busy at ie dinner time, the wait for the food will be long. As for the food selection, they seemed to have a lot of the typical dishes and everything seemed pretty fresh (ie the veggies were still fresh and crunchy rather than soggy. I'm not sure if that's because we went in for an early lunch or if that's how it always is). They seemed to have a larger lunch selection of sushi than other buffets I've been to but they seemed to be mostly a variety of philly and california rolls with a few spicy tuna rolls. But the rolls also seemed to be pretty fresh. I would like to see what they had at dinner time (I heard they have more sushi and also more dishes, ie crab legs). read more

Hong Kong Buffet gets something right that a lot of Chinese buffets miss the mark on - variety. Located in a strip mall just beside Walmart, I was not expecting this little gem. Surprisingly, variety at some buffets is hard to come by. Hong Kong offers everything from sushi and hibachi to Chinese and American. They also have impressive dessert offerings. You'll find the staples like hot n sour soup, egg drop, egg rolls, Lo mein, etc. I was pleasantly shocked at their steamed buns, wontons, and other steamed items. Their hibachi grill had quite a few options as well. There was a pleasant atmosphere and even the decor is relaxing (albeit a bit dated) with the bridge over the water in the entrance. I was here for the lunch rush which also not as busy as I expected. This may be due to the reason I had to remove one star - the food itself is a bit mediocre. There are great healthy options and most of the dishes were not breaded and fried meats which I personally find fantastic! There are a couple Chinese-American dishes that are fried and breaded such as the sweet and sour chicken. The sweet and sour sauce also appeared homemade or at least a different brand than I've ever tried before (and I eat a LOT of Asian cuisine). I think that the chefs are "playing it safe" with flavors to cater to Americans but maybe they should are just a bit out of the box, because there's LOTS of potential here. 10/10 will return. read more

I went to the "grand opening" of this buffet this past weekend. The entrance is gorgeous, there's small bridge over a koi pond that takes you up to the cashier/hostess stand. Once you are seated and choose your beverage, I suggest exploring the buffet options before taking a plate. There are the usual Chinese buffet options such as egg rolls, crab rangoon, sweet and sour chicken and soup, but there was also "peach buns" (dumplings in the shape of a rose) and coconut buns. I did not try these but one of my dining companions tried the coconut dumpling & liked it. After the appetizer area, check out the entrees, such as garlic chicken, pepper steak, butter chicken (yummy!) and butter shrimp (also tasty!). They also have a Hibachi bar, where you pick your raw meat & veggies, add noodles if desired, then take to the grill to be cooked with your choice of sauce. The grill chef can recommend a sauce based on your meat choice & tastes. There is also a sushi bar, it looked clean & well stocked (I don't eat sushi, so I don't know how it tasted). The dessert bar is extensive, with several types of little cakes & rolls, plus 8 different kinds of ice cream. If you are looking for a good Chinese buffet option, I recommend the Hong Kong Buffet, located on Glendale Ave in the Walmart Plaza. Lunch is $6.99 Monday - Saturday, dinner is $9.99 every day. Came here with the fam for lunch on a Saturday and had a decent meal. They have all the typical buffet offerings, plus make-to-order Hibachi and a sushi section. The actual buffet food wasn't terribly impressive and I struggled to find things I would eat again the second go-around. I did enjoy the egg-drop soup, vermicelli noodles, and spicy shrimp dish. The sushi was actually quite decent and much better than other buffet sushi in my opinion; they had maybe about 10 types of rolls, including fresh salmon and tuna rolls. The Hibachi grill also offered additional options (steak, beef, shrimp, + veggies) and was pretty tasty (would recommend the garlic sauce + house sauce!). They also have a ton of desserts available for those with a sweet tooth, including 8 flavors of ice cream lol. Overall, at $7.50/person for lunch, I can't really complain if some of the food wasn't great. There were definitely enough options to keep me happy! All-you-can Chinese for $7? Yes, please! This buffet is huge with plenty of meat dishes. They don't rob you of variety here. I swear they had every type of chicken I could possibly think of with pork and beef dishes mixed in here and there. Their dessert bar was also pretty good and it was actually labeled! Really hard to describe just how many hundreds of items on this buffet! Great selection of sushi, being made constantly, and a Mongolian style raw grill. I prefer fish, and they only had one fish- Basa sautéed in a light garlic- butter sauce, that was ok. I think I got a piece that had been on the warming tray for a while. The butter shrimp was good, as were the whole fried shrimp, the bok choyi, and the sautéed green beans. The variety was amazing, with various traditional Chinese chicken and shrimp dishes, and BBQ ribs, chicken satay, sweet/sour chicken, etc,etc. And leave room for dessert, everything from 6-7 fresh fruit selections, to various cakes, pies, jello, cookies, puddings, and eight kinds of ice cream, that you scoop yourself from the freezer bin. The peach bun, with the sweet bean curd filling, was a treat. Tea is $1 extra, as are other beverages, I think. Great deal here if you are hungry, but not sure what you want. read more

Unfortunately, for the last few yrs I tend to have to spend most of my time at the hospital down the street when I come to town. Otherwise, I wouldn't even know this place existed as it is buried in a strip mall. This is one of the better Chinese buffets I have visited in my lifetime, and I have actually been to China (where buffets aren't super popular, but they keep the food coming at all times). I have tried almost every Chinese dish on that buffet and there is nothing I have disliked. It's definitely Americanized Chinese food, but it's a very good. They even make my fav Chinese snack from scratch, sesame peanuts, which I have yet to see anywhere else in America and filled my pockets with on the way out. The best part: it is absurdly cheap, something like $7/person for lunch. It literally costs more to eat at Chipotle, and they don't give you bottomless burritos. This isn't the greatest Chinese buffet that I have been to, but it is decent compared to the other choices that you have in Toledo. If you're a fan of Chinese American food then this is a good place to choose from if you're in the area. There is sushi, hibachi, hot soups and assorted Chinese dishes, salads and desserts to choose from. I wish there was more to choose from for sushi, but they make up for it in thier dinner foods at night. They have frog legs and crab legs at night, which were pretty decent sized compared to Happy Rose, and it was nice that when food was running low and I asked the workers for more of that food, they bring more of it in minutes rather than have you want long periods of time to do so. I went here because of participating an event. They gave a special group rate of $13 something including drinks. I think there are many choices. But maybe I don't eat much so my rating only reflects certain type of people. I love the seafood, the noodle, and others. I guess there aren't many Chinese buffet options in Toledo. When I first walked into Hong Kong, I was surprised as to how big and elegant it was. I suppose I was taken aback since I was expecting something completely different (I'm not a huge buffet fan in the first place). The foyer was elegant, the accents throughout the place were nice, and you are greeted with a warm smile. The service is quick, polite, and does what they need so you can start stuffing your face full of both Chinese and American treats. This place really has everything you could think of when it comes down to a Chinese buffet. I'm sure anything you would see in a American-Chinese restaurant is what you can get here... and more. (And more you say? Yes, and more!) The food is hot and the staff is constantly refilling empty items. I will say that the quality of the food is similar to the price. What you pay for is what you get. This place will not break the bank, and similarly, this place will not give you the best Chinese food you've ever had. The food is good, but it's not the best. I saw some people posted it's Americanized, but what do you expect? It's a Chinese buffet in Toledo. And in spite of that it's really good. A lot of it is your standard buffet slop, but there are some gems-like the octopus salad, coconut shrimp, hibachi grill. Those alone are worth the $9.99. I do sometimes leave there feeling like I've had too much MSG-I'm thirsty for hours- but it's only been the past couple years so I'm not sure if they put more in or whether I've become more sensitive to it. read more

My first impression of Hong Kong buffet the first time I went there was that it was absolutely beautiful inside. The decor is all very lovely, and eating in gives the feel of eating somewhere nicer than just a buffet. The food itself is good. Some of the food is better than others, and they don't always have some things on the buffet, which can be a bummer if you are hungry for something that was there last time but isn't this time. Overall though, I like the food a lot. They are a little but more pricey than some of the other buffets jb the area, especially for their take out buffet, but other than that, there aren't many complaints I have. read more

The garlic chicken actually tasted like it had real spices in it and not some generic gravy that is put on everything in the restaurant. There were lots of flavors and different vegetables on my plate (like squash). All of it was cooked well and the portion sizes are just great. IN fact the small size was to much food for me. LOL. I have been to Chinese restaurants all over the US and one of my favorite soups is hot and sour soup. So when I saw they had it at Hong Kong buffet I decided they should have some good soup. Wrong! The soup was spoiled and when I approached my waitress about it, she whisted away from the table before the manager could come talk to me. Then he had the audacity to say that I don't know what I'm talking about the soup is sour and it's supposed to smell that way? I know after being a chef for 25 years that that soup was not supposed to smell that way, it was spoiled! I would not recommend going here unless you want to walk out with some kind of foodborne illness, I had it last night and I'm still feeling sick today.... The staff was extremely rude and the food was hardly palatable let alone safe to eat! read more

Hong Kong Buffet isn't the greatest place that I've experienced, but it's not bad. Considering that I've recently moved to the Toledo area, I will probably be going back at some point in time. The price is slightly steep for the dinner buffet but it does include sushi, which wasn't that fresh. There is quite a variety in the buffet but not nearly as much as other Chinese buffets that I've been to. Hands down my absolute favorite place to eat Chinese food! They never go wrong! I love their sushi and their regular food. It's always hot and fresh! I've never tried something cold! I understand with COVID and all that it's a new thing, but after getting a plate that you don't get to serve your own food. To be told to go to the very back of the line to go get a new plate is understandable, but when all the other people are yet to pay maybe either make the new customers wait so you can get a plate or bring out more people to serve. I think 19.50 for two to only get one plate then to have to stand in line for 15 minutes is a little much read more

When you first walk in, there's a really cool koi pond. That was the peak of the visit. The sushi was good, but all of the "hot" food was at room temperature. I was scared that I would get food poisoning from improper food storage. The dumplings seemed really unsanitary - there was nowhere to put the tongs except in the pot, so the handle was laying on food. Several of the fried foods were too hard to eat. The dessert bar featured ice cream you had to scoop yourself (once again, this triggered the germaphobe in me) and treats that were very obviously Great Value brand from the Walmart nextdoor. read more
