Traveling to Cincinnati from Detroit and made a pit stop. Self admitted I'm a sucker for a "bad buffet", I like variety but this place didn't meet an already low bar. The booth I was seated at smelled of animal (cat?) urine. Absolutely gross. There's a table with silverware you grab, and a lot of the silverware was not fully clean. The food was your average run of the mill Chinese buffet food. A lot was soft and lukewarm. Nothing to write home about. The egg rolls were mushy. I did like the Hawaiian chicken though (it was recently replenished so it was warm enough). The waitress was really nice. I'll give them that. Won't be returning. One time was enough. read more

Atmosphere - Strip Mall decor. It was around 8pm and we were in the mood for Chinese food. Unfortunately, in the area the options were limited. Especially at that time of night. We are not crazy about buffets, but we decided to give this a try. The restaurant is somewhat dingy and the furniture is cheap and dated. There is a combination of booths and tables. They use paper plates and plastic cutlery (which I assume is due to Covid). Service - Good. Not much to do for a staff person in a buffet, but bring drinks, clear tables of used service items, and keep the food trays full at the buffet. All areas of service were handled well and promptly. Food - Average. The selection was very limited in terms of Chinese food items. In fact, there were nearly as many "American food items". What there was, was hot and tasted OK. I especially liked the Hot n Sour soup. The chicken lo mein was bland with very little chicken. The fried rice was not very good. The sweet n sour chicken, the General Tso's chicken and Teriyaki chicken were decent as well, but they were not as hot (temperature wise) as I would have preferred. Overall - Just OK. We were craving Chinese food after a Pickleball tournament and discovered this place tucked away in a strip mall. We haven't done anything like this since the pandemic and were a little anxious about it, but since we have both had the vaccine we gave it a try. The restaurant is fairly large and all employees wear masks. All plates and utensils are plastic and styrofoam, so not my favorite way to eat. One buffet had soups and eggs rolls, spring rolls, etc. The soup was extremely hot, but the wonton soup was very good. The egg roll was good also. Next stop was the entree station. Not as much to choose from as I had anticipated. General Tso's, Lo Mein, teriyaki chicken and some others. The other buffet was full of American food which isn't why we came here, so that was disappointing. There was also a salad and dessert bar. The dessert bar was pretty picked over so we didn't find anything interesting. They did have a chocolate fountain that you could dip marshmallows as well as cookies. Good things here: All foodbars are open & kept mostly filled most of the time. And now everything else. Walked through buffet Sunday it all looked good. Busy and crowded for all day $11 ish price. But Monday lunch was... BBBAAADDDDD! I'm ok with hot cheesed (?) mussels, but it was rhe only real food edible to me. Another reviewer just gushed over the wings and Baby Rays hot sauce he basted them in. We got there at 11 :45am, 45 minutes after opening, I bit in to the fist drummy of 5 expecting a good wing. WRONG!!! HARD AS STEEL! I thought I had felt 8 razor blades cutting my mouth up! W+F! I spit it out into my hand, not in a napkin I normally would have done discreetly. OMG, a failure to launch. I deskinned a second wing in hopes it was an anomaly, but the wing was 2 seconds from jerky. I tentatively tried a bite of a third, but discarded them to the trash heap on the cheapist Styrofoam plates ever they use here. The chicken piece from a broth was also so overcooked, the tines or the cheapist plastic forks bent and only 2 of 4 pierced the dried bite side piece. A nibble was all I dared. A beef piece in broth, also well done, was tolerable, but still a 3 out of 10. ( Just before we left after my customary restroom visit to relieve my self of excess liquid and wash up) the beef had now dried to jerky as the minute broth had all but boiled away. The crab ragoon, so over fried, had so little filling as to be non existing. More paper in the fortune cookie than filling in the ragoon. Egg drop soup 5 of 10. Everything else 3 out of 10 or less We were foced to eat only the mussels which barely came out. Only 10 mussels at a time and of course the one thing the 5 other tables wanted too. Luckily our table was closest, but we were not full when we left, never to return. Go to Hong Kong Buffet intead. For us in Michigan, both are 1 hour, 1 minute away,this sh!+hole by US75, Hong Kong Buffet by US23. Maybe if you love well done desiccated food, you'll love it on Sunday dinner. Maybe faster turn around will make dishes medium-rare or good. I cannot, in good conscience waste more money on a MAYBE. read more

I got the Buffet, had a little tastes of a lot a dishes! Garlic bread was cold and hard as a rock veg lo mein was good egg roll had no taste at all, many dishes was out and not replenished! I don't leave reviews but this place was bad enough. When we first walked in, it was a little uncomfortably warm and also humid. The front area was cluttered and I was instantly apprehensive about staying, the only reason we did stay was because my wife loves chinese food and it was her choice. Stains everywhere on the carpet, a tacky feel to the tabletop and God knows what underneath. The food. The buffet bars were unnecessarily close to each other so getting to what you think looks good is difficult. There was Chinese food on only 1/2 of the trays which surprised me because when you go to a chinese place, you expect chinese food. I tried the pepper steak, mushroom and beef, lo mein noodles and rice. I'm not sure if that was beef at all. It had a soft texture, not tender, more like dense stringy bread if you can imagine that. The sauce did not have any flavor to it other than sweet. I couldn't eat anything except the noodles. My youngest is 1 whom eats almost anything we put in front of her, she didn't even want the chicken or rice. My 3 year old chose pizza and I some kind of chicken. Again, I was surprised they had pizza. She barely eats regardless so I can't say the reason she didn't eat was the food. My wife was determined to enjoy herself so she went up to get something different but resulted in the same wasted "food". So, the kicker was the soft serve chocolate ice cream my 3 year old chose. She loves ice cream as any 3 year old would but did not eat it. She said it tasted bad. How do you make bad soft serve? I don't even want to know how long that sushi has been sitting out there, especially knowing there is no one "manning" it. 4. I got tired of the food after the first plate. I'm from Columbus and we've been to like...every Chinese buffet in town. This is one of the best. I mean it's your standard buffet but the food is prettttyyy good and their sushi bar is LEGIT. You can't expect much from a place like this..but my expectations were exceeded (especially since the reviews suck.) I used to drag my boyfriend to buffets all the time so he's not a huge fan anymore but even he said it's the best! That says a lot so 2 thumbs up from us! read more

I use to go when the place first opened and its gone down hill a lot since. First off, this place is the family's baby sitting place so expect a lot of kids of various ages bored and running around if you go on a weekend. The selection and quality are definitely going down hill. Nothing seemed fresh. What should be crispy golden brown is barely cooked and barely brown. Considering the amount of grease in the items I'd say the fry oil was old and not to temp. The place looks like it hasn't had a deep cleaning in months, especial the water feature in the front of the house. None of the employees are happy and the person working the checkout just seems angry about everything. The trinkets they sell at the check out can't be making them any money because of how low quality they are. I would just donate most of them to Salvation Army clear the counter space for a plant. I don't think its a lost cause but a solid cleaning and change in ownership could bring it back. read more

Just visited China City Buffet for the first time. Have heard some decent reviews from co-workers so thought it was time to give it a try. Positives: reasonably priced, main dishes like chicken teriyaki, beef w/mushrooms, hawaiian chicken, all very good. Negatives: I wanted to have some vegetables to balance out the buffet guilt, but all they had were brussel sprouts. Not much "healthy" to speak of. They had a chocolate fountain, but it looked like it needed a bit of upkeep and there were no strawberries :( They also had sushi, but I am not a fan, so I can't say if it was good or bad. Definitely the finest Chinese buffet the Toledo area has to offer, which, let's be honest, may not be saying all that much. If you are the business owner and want families that did NOT adopt little Asian babies, you gots ta have some food for the round-eyes! What they DO have: A good COLD sushi bar - not a diverse selection and no raw tuna, but again, think of the price point and it is AYCE. They do have a great veggie roll with crisp Oshinko and the Cali Roll is dope. Also, a quaint Maki Sushi of rice and sealegs. The hot food bar is stocked with HOT food. I never encountered one dish that was in the danger zone temperature-wise. VERY IMPORTANT and a reason to run (to avoid the runs!) Good stuff: Very good pot stickers with dipping sauce, the veggie lo mein noodles are garlicky, gingery goodness, the pepper steak is tender, the General Tsos Chicken is nice (but not very spicy), the Black Pepper Chicken is tops. They had a roasted pork loin that you carve yourself both times I was there. I was surprised, as I am used to seeing a slow-cooked shoulder, and expected it to be dry. First time it was very tender, but this time it was dry. It probably is more often than not. Low fat content makes it hard to be moist for any amount of holding time. So yes. I will return. Ok. I've been here a few times. It's been bad at times and really good at others. The key is to go at a busy time so they are filling the trays with fresh food continuously. If you go when it's slow it's not good because they aren't "freshening" the food as often as they should. We went on a Friday around 7pm with 3 teenage, picky eating girls. They loved it. The food was hot and fresh. The server was quick and attentive. I give it 3 stars due to the few bad times I've been there. All during lunch. In especially love the Thai chicken, and the tangerine marshmallow dessert and the little bacon wrapped chicken things. This is Chinese Buffet at its best - they are becoming far and few between. Our Hunan Palace in BG was closed thanks Tony Geftos's Stupid Restaurant Report Card and the Wood County Health department. Instead of $20 for 2 we paid almost $30. So it is what it is Good, Cheap, Excellent, variety and a nice clean restaurant with friendly staff. And yes its made by oriental people not Caucasian kids. 7.50 will get you King Buffet in BG with like tiems on the buffet and small selection and a huge disappointment in variety ( everything was Orange) The next best is The Happy Rose Buffet on Airport Highway its just a little further to drive. : )) read more

This buffet has a great selection of food. I really love coming here when I'm hungry for Chinese (and I have gone to many Chinese places to find that this one is the best around). This buffet has the worst staff, rude and lazy. I left my card and the waitress took it and she she brought back. When we were leaving they were literally yelling at us for not paying. There is no manager to talk to and the staff don't even speak English and to top it, they tried to charge us more claiming they don't have the ticket.
