I was not treated to any rare delights but the basics of sweet and sour chicken with red sauce, sauteed green beans and the fresh cut fruit make for an enjoyable, albeit predictable dining experience. Staff come by frequently to clear plates and there aren't lines for any of the food stations. The price is reasonable and it is one of the better Chinese food purveyors in the area. Stopped by for lunch on a Saturday. Walked in right after they opened, was the first customers. I walked around to see what they had - your standard Chinese buffet with your standard food offerings that's found at any Chinese buffets. Since it was lunch, they didn't have seafood... the last buffet table had a sign "dinner only", but it also had food out, so not sure what that was all about. Salad/Dessert area - didn't touch this area, so can't say much. Sushi/Hibachi - tried some of the sushi, they had your standard rolls, lot less than other places, but enough to get your sushi kick. Didn't try the hibachi. I tried to try little of everything.. but on the fried food area, only tried the egg roll - which was your standard veggie egg rolls, bit bland. As for the other hot foods they had, the honey beef was my favorite. The lo mein was under-seasoned and to kick up the seasoning, mix it with some of the honey beef sauce and add some hot chili oil if you want it spicy!! The service was decent, water was filled regularly. The place got busy, filled up quickly. Overall, the foods were decent, nothing special that jumped out. If you have a picky eater, definitely a place worth visiting. read more

Weekend dinner was only $15. I cannot stress this enough: fifteen dollars! Tons of decent food with a heavy emphasis on Asian basics. We mostly gorged on sushi which had many varieties of maki and five types of nigiri. They had lots of sauces but no normal wasabi. There were at least 5 steamer tables of hot food plus a sad salad bar. Five desert choices but seven different tubs of ice cream to choose from. There was also build your own stir fry. Lots of fish and shrimp to choose from but no crab legs. Service was great with plates cleared quickly and friendly staff. There were no Asians eating here which is typically a bad sign. Not impressed with our fellow diners but there is plenty of seating. We really like the Chinese decor like the tables and the clear booth dividers with paper sculptures of village scenes inside. Ocean Garden is definitely worth the 45 minute drive from Detroit to Toledo. read more

When you walk in, it's definitely looks like a Chinese restaurant. The decor is spot on. You are also greeted with a vacuum and was quickly seated. The language barrier was a struggle, they do know the buffet terms: Pepsi, one, napkin, spoon, all you can eat, bathrooms and soy sauce. The buffet is large and has a big variety of dishes, many hot dishes also. They have a hibachi and sushi bar. Something told me the sushi wasn't the best and I was right, it was horrible. Not fresh and tasted funny. The food was good. The dessert bar could be better, it all looks like prepackaged food. I'm not one who likes to be reached in front of while I'm talking. A Huge restaurant, it looks clean. There were 3/4 servers, oriental atmosphere. Love the fish tank of coy fish! Anyways I got there after 12 so lunch started you can tell. The food was fresh and hot and all were filled from American, Chinese and Japanese food. I was very pleased it's been a year for me going to a buffet cuz of the Covid so this was refreshing to see their still some good buffet around. This place was OK, kind of middle of the road as far as Chinese style buffets go. Overall the food selection was great, would have liked a little more seafood, but I assume that was a weekend thing. They have hibachi and a sushi bar. I would come back as the food was hot well stocked and tasted well enough. When I first discovered this buffet many years ago, it was really good and had a big variety of foods- including sushi rolls. Recently, I went back there for the first time in a while and I was sorely disappointed! It seems as though the quality of foods has gone down. There wasn't a large variety of rolls and it didn't seem very fresh. My sister ended up getting food poisoning from eating there. I must say that although I was a fan in the past, I've moved on and found better buffets and probably won't be visiting Ocean Garden in the near future. read more

I love me some chinese food! And this buffet didn't disappoint, a wide variety of foods for everyone and very tasty. Living up to its name, the ocean and garden were both represented with lots of seafood dishes as well as vegetables and fruit. The sushi was decent, did not try the hibachi grill as I couldn't resist going back for more coconut shrimp and pineapple, so good together!
