BBQ meats with more veggies, less rice.
    Robert S.

Another great meal at Hong Kong Eatery. This time, I asked for less rice and more vegetables and they easily made it happen. The ladies behind the counter were really efficient and easy to deal with. I loved the BBQ meats rice and veggies. They were flavorful and still warm to the bite. A favorite in the Boston Chinatown area.

I came here from a TikTok video recommending spots in Chinatown. The food was pretty good, but the quality of the meat was somewhat questionable - lots of tough/dry/gristly parts. Interior of the restaurant did not smell awesome. Overall it was okay for a quick bite, but not worth going out of your way.

Service was efficient! Menu was easy to read. Food was fresh and delish! Seating was limited to about 10-12 people. They PACKED the meats on the noodle dish and their broth was so rich. PERFECT for the snowy cold day. The scallion pancakes were so crispy, chewy, and just so good. I highly recommend!!

A staple in Chinatown! Their prices are great and the meat is always super fresh. The workers are very efficient too, and easy to order off the menu. There are a couple tables inside, which is nice. I only wish the meat was a bit leaner, i've gotten a couple fatty pieces before that I didn't love.

Another week, another rice box from Hong Kong Eatery. This time, I was a little more hungry so I decided to do 3 pick selection. Might do 3 pick more moving forward LOL You get so much food you can barely close the box. The duck is always so juicy and flavorful. Crispy pork is a hit and miss because sometimes it can really be too fatty. Best Chinese bbq spot around Chinatown

Shatteringly crisp pork belly. Char siu glazed to a smoky, sweet shine. Roasted duck with skin that snaps. And that marinated sausage? A salty-sweet punch that ties it all together. This is the kind of Cantonese comfort that speaks for itself. It's generations of flavor packed on one plate. Boston's Chinatown stays undefeated, and Hong Kong Eatery holds it down. Cheap and delicious--what more could you ask for?

I wanted to try the roast duck but at other restaurants you have to get a quarter or half duck and that seemed like a lot for a first try. Here they offer plates of 1 meat 1 rice or 2 meats 1 rice, which are still huge portions but only $12 each and a much more manageable amount to try! Very juicy, loved both the duck and crispy pork I got. I would warn to be careful when eating it as there are shards of bone in the meat from how they cut it.

Hands down one of my favorite Chinese spots in Boston. I always order the meat combo with BBQ Pork and Tofu and occasionally Roasted Duck, and I am always satisfied and happy. Their portions are always plentiful and delicious and you really get a bang for your buck. You can either order in the front or you can order via the tablet towards the back of the store. The wait time for food is not long at all, which is very nice. The seating area inside is small and cozy, with music in the background. It is also walking distance to Tufts Medical Center which is an added bonus as someone who often has appointments there.

I had been craving wonton since moving to Massachusetts and decided to pay Chinatown a little visit. I had previously visited to help someone pick up a duck and realized it was the same place after seeing it in TikTok. There was lots of noodles in the portion. The vegetables were cooked perfectly- soft but not mushy. The wontons were delicious and reminded me of the ones my grandpa would make! Ordering was easy- we ordered at a kiosk, before sitting at a table to wait for our order to be called.

What I like about this place Is that they have cold dishes/appetizers. This is my second time here. The food is really good. Last time I had the roast duck and roast pork. Today I had the salt and pepper squid a side order of char sieu. The squid was light and crispy. The shallot and jalapeno seasoned the rice very well. Now on to the disappointment. The char siew was dry and lacking glaze and tough to chew. Still a great place for Chinese bbq and rice.

For a quick Chinese breakfast I stopped by HK Eatery. While a long line formed, everyone queued for the roast duck and other BBQ items. Since I wanted to dine in, I proceeded to the back, where larging ordering screens let me put in my order of fish congee ($8) and scallion pancake. No line at this part Today's items both came piping hot, but undersalted. I ended up adding chili oil and extra salt to it. At least it was quick, hot, and cheap. Can't have everything. I also bought a few to-go appetizers, priced at $6 each. The duck gizzard and pig ears are not worth it; they are bulked up by radish and cucumber, respectively. A rip-off given the already small size.

Hong Kong Eatery has been around since I was a kid! We used to get smoothies at the spot that was next door and eat here. Nowadays, I come here for takeout every so often. Depending on how I'm feeling, I'll either get a beef chow fun ( 乾炒牛河) or 3 meats over rice plate (三拼飯), with extra ginger scallion sauce! For the three meats, I like to get char siu 叉烧, soy sauce chicken 豉油鸡, and either duck 烤鴨 or octopus if they have it. I also enjoy their cold plate options, just to snack on. I love the cold spicy chicken feet and sometimes duck feet. Very quick service here, even if the line is out the door. Food is made fast, 5-10min ready. As for sit down/dine in, I haven't sat down to eat here in a minute. I've gotten very used to just ordering takeout from here and be on my merry way.

Hong Kong Eatery is a longtime staple in the heart of Chinatown, known for their classic window display of hanging roast meats and a wide selection of traditional Cantonese dishes. Whether you're getting meats by the pound or ordering a quick rice plate, this place delivers fast and consistent quality. Service was quick and efficient--our food came out in about 5-10 minutes. It helps if you know some Cantonese, but it's definitely not required. There are a few smaller tables inside for dining in, and they also have a big selection of prepackaged meals and meats if you're on the go. We ordered single meat rice plates with Char Siu (BBQ Pork) and Siu Yuk (Crispy Roasted Pork). The Char Siu was solid--classic flavor, nicely roasted, and a good portion for the price. The Siu Yuk had a crispy skin and was super flavorful, though I personally prefer a thicker crunchy layer. It did come with some bone-in pieces, which might not be for everyone, but it didn't take away from the dish overall. Definitely a go-to spot if you're craving classic roast meats in Chinatown.

Unless you wanna wait an hour or so, it's best to arrive 30min before they open to beat the rush. It's incredibly cramped and rushed inside, and you may need to share a table with others if you're a smaller party. Food is quite pricey but well worth it. We ordered the oysters (they've got a variety so you can choose), clam chowder, lobster roll, cioppino, and johnnycake. Oysters were fine, but the clam chowder was absolutely dismal. Not sure what happened, especially since it's so highly rated, but it was extremely watery and almost completely unseasoned. It could've definitely used salt at the very least. If I didn't know it was from Neptune, I'd have given it a 2/10. To my relief, the lobster roll was the total opposite. Succulent, juicy, heavenly. It was like being in Maine. The cioppino was also very good. The Johnnycake was an interesting but fun way to end the meal. It's a sweet pancake-like cornmeal covered in a syrupy glaze and topped with smoked bluefish paste, crème fraiche and caviar. I've never had anything like it. Nothing was super overpriced, but I personally prefer next door (Paulini's), which is much cheaper and while it isn't as good, it also doesn't require waiting in an hour in line. However, I think Neptune's is definitely worth a try as long as you're willing to wait in line.

Fortunately we got in within minutes of waiting. My family wasn't exactly hungry but we ordered the black pasta aglio olio and the black pasta Alfredo. Given the small restaurant / just a few tables, the kitchen was highly efficient and brought the food out quick. It was fun to watch our dinner cooked as we were seated next to the kitchen. The aglio olio is something I could eat regularly. The ground calamari was unique and it was loaded with sautéed garlic. The best!
